I’ve been playing fire emblem casually since I was a wee child but till this day I still don’t understand how devil axes work and I can’t be bothered to search the wiki
@@nisekoishi That's how it works in most, but the DS titles do it a little differently. Instead of dealing the displayed damage to yourself, it's (attack-defense) damage dealt back to the user. So lets say base level Barst in FE11 hit himself with the Devil Axe, he'll be dealing 21 damage to himself regardless of how much damage he would've dealt to the enemy and would have 3 HP left.
@@rhythm1961 It usually has stupidly high might and is usually E or D rank, requiring very little investment to use. In the GBA games specifically, in gives a boat load of weapon EXP, going from E to D after two uses, from D to C after four uses, etc. In the DS games though, it's the only axe with 100 hit, letting even someone like Darros hit consistently.
