I don't know why people think bands/songs can't sound good just because they "sound like other bands". Too many arists and bands are trying TOO hard to sound different because "fans" are bullying them into it. The more they do this, the more they're being pushed into a corner.

Yeah but there is a fine line there, one side of it you take influences from bands and sound like yourself, other side of that line you lean too much into that and rip your influences to the point that it feels like it lacks creativity and sound too much like a copycat band. And the problem with that is it can feel abit watered down. Its a fine line. I dont expect bands to feel 100% unique, there are always going to be the cliche riffs or breakdowns, song structuring, but then a band shouldn't write a song with the intent to sound like whatever it may be that's hot at that time , I dunno its a tough one

@nemesis8626 It mostly is fine-line. You don't change your sound, people think you're boring and don't know how to evolve. You DO change your sound, some fans will feel alienated and won't like it. (And maybe some fans will, plus maybe some new fans will be made) It's truly a gamble. I don't think people really know what they want either way, it doesn't matter what a band does. Gatekeepers and Elitists will dog on them no matter what.
