I don't know why people think bands/songs can't sound good just because they "sound like other bands". Too many arists and bands are trying TOO hard to sound different because "fans" are bullying them into it. The more they do this, the more they're being pushed into a corner.
Yeah but there is a fine line there, one side of it you take influences from bands and sound like yourself, other side of that line you lean too much into that and rip your influences to the point that it feels like it lacks creativity and sound too much like a copycat band. And the problem with that is it can feel abit watered down. Its a fine line. I dont expect bands to feel 100% unique, there are always going to be the cliche riffs or breakdowns, song structuring, but then a band shouldn't write a song with the intent to sound like whatever it may be that's hot at that time , I dunno its a tough one
@nemesis8626 It mostly is fine-line. You don't change your sound, people think you're boring and don't know how to evolve. You DO change your sound, some fans will feel alienated and won't like it. (And maybe some fans will, plus maybe some new fans will be made) It's truly a gamble. I don't think people really know what they want either way, it doesn't matter what a band does. Gatekeepers and Elitists will dog on them no matter what.
@@nemesis8626 It absolutely blows my mind about the copy paste core bands. I highly believe why its awful for growth is down tuning your guitar. You will forever sound like that never experiencing any other moods and feelings of writing. Its very cult like behavior. Kind of like how you have to be covered in tattoos to prove prove your importance and how tough you are etc. I see it as insecurities and pure phony nonsense. At this point its up to the artists to be artists and not follow suit. Also every core band in my town are the absolute worst people to work with. They never EVER go to any other shows in town except their own just proving the cult thing to be true. The worst part is its pure cringe generic writing. Like wtf goes through their mind when sitting down writing a song?! Absolutely no creative journey thought whatso ever. Omg dont get me started on the lyrics of all these bands lol "You will not survive the wrath of my suffering" So stupid... Im sure theres some good core people out there but this cult crap is disgusting and so obvious. Internet and technology has ruined everything
