Nice burn off and review on the features Ricer! I suppose if you live where it's humid, emptying the hopper and allowing time to burn off the pellets in the auger would be nice. But..... I live where it's dryer than a popcorn fart!🤣 So that would be a bit annoying. 😁👍👊🍻

I agree Kevin!!! It is perfect for the humid areas!!! It does start up quickly and you can always walk away during the shutdown process but the auger stronger so I wish they would have rolled the dice to see if it could push through so you didn't have to burn off extra pellets every time you ran it but they certainly added some nice new features to the 1200! I just bought one of these while Oklahoma Joe's was running a massive sale. I'm honestly very disappointed so far. There is a massive glitch in the control panel that is causing the grill to stall out when I set the temperature to 350. 300 is fine. 325 is fine. As soon as I set 350, the grill stalls and equalizes at 270. If I set 400, it still hovers at 270.
325 to 350 is the transition from smoke mode to sear mode, and it seems like the programmed logic for this transition is broken.

Nice video. Had two of the old DLX and now this newer version. The improvements are really nice. As far as pellet grills go, these offer unmatched searing ability & area (easily & quickly gets the center round up to 800/900 if you really dial it up). In general, just gotta take into account the center round heat transfers straight upwards, so offsetting that with a water pan and using the racks to cook on is ideal. A good trick for cleaning ash, after dumping the pot, is using air compressor air gun nozzle to shoot up from the ash can below, blows the ash out of fire pot. Over 40 cooks and literally that's all I've done, barely looks used inside, ZERO grease anywhere and have have done many pork butts, fatty chuck roasts, ribs and burgers in her. Most maintenance free pellet grill I've owned to date (and I've had ALOT), literally cooks itself clean. Grilling burgers is amazing, I smoke them on Lo for an hour, on rack on sides, then dial up to 450, which gives 650 grate temp, couple minutes on each side with lid open (it keeps up high temp easily even with lid open!), excellent. You also get awesomely controlled flame flare ups when you mash them a bit, its quite fun to grill burgers on etc! Gets up to temp much quicker than the older ones too. Shut-down burn off seems to only be about 15 for mine, but haven't really timed it yet, as I'm usually inside eating the fixins.

@@DeadBrokeBBQ I'm looking forward to finally doing a video in a month or two on the large Lonstargrillz IVS. Talk about set it and forget it. But the get it up to temp time is about one hour safely. No getting around any vertical smoker being slow to temp. If you overshoot the temp it's hell getting it back down. That's where I think a pellet can have a advantage. But I'm looking forward to showing off the IVS eventually. 12 to 16 briskets at one time depending on the size of the briskets. Hey maybe next year we get you and a guest out here for some salmon fishing and we play with the IVS, I'm sure that would put a smile on Criss's face. Later.👍🔥😁🎣🐟🍻

@@DeadBrokeBBQ I will add or suggest when you do order one get the medium or small ( having troubles remembering what they call those two) not the large unless you're planning on doing catering. At 1,200 lbs it's just to big for the backyard cooks. But brother I do love it. The dog can't brush up against it and get the you know what burnt out of it ( the smell of burnt dog hair takes days to get out of the nose) . And who cares if it's -20°f outside ( you're winter's, not mine) she just keeps chugging along. I haven't put it to the test but Criss says at 225°f with the firebox filled with 2 20lb bags of briquettes she should burn without interruption for 30 to 35 hours. As our Canadian brothers to the north would say " she's a beaut ehh". OK, enjoy some beers 🍻, catch you later 😀.

Oh, FYI I have been referring folks who are considering getting a pellet cooker or are looking for something different then their late model Traeger. I think it's a good idea to help folks who like pellet cooking to better understand the limits and advantages of the pellet cookers. How adding a water pan will not only will help keep meats from drying out but help keep a more consistent temperature in the cook chamber. The more mass the better the heat retention. The more you mentione this perhaps the better they will be designed with more steel. I love the fact that Lonstargrillz is using serious amounts of steel. True they will be heaver but better. It would be great if someone would build in a large water pan that can be easily drained. Oh hell I'm rambling on again. Later.

Hi Ron!! Sorry to hear about your DLX bro!!! Ok so to be honest the 1200 just went to a person in need for a new pellet grill so I will not be doing any comparison video with those 2 pits. I tried to film one but he was desperate and I just didn't have time to do a video. But here is my opinion. Buy the Elite. The controller is 3 times better and it does have WiFi which does come in handy at times. The sear zone is smaller but it does a better job smoking than the DLX does IMO. My 1200 was off on the temps more than the Elite and still had some pretty big temp spikes at times too. Now 1200 is better than the OG DLX but the Elite is truly more reliable to run. Plus the new dump out the pellets and wait 30 minutes for the 1200 to shut off is a pain in the rear at times!!!! I hope this helps but if all you are truly looking for is a pellet grill that grills then the DLX is still a better option. Thanks for watching my video brother!!!!

I don't see that much improvement to raise the price as much as they did..I like mine big time..but zero way I could afford the newer model..thanks at 3:13 in the morning..

Ya not leaps and bounds on the upgrades but certainly a couple good ones! I like the baffles being able to be removed and the the 2 temp probes to hopefully help the PID controller to run better than the older analog controller on the OG War Machine! Man you are a night owl brother!!!!! hahaha Like always thanks for watching!!!

I would not know the importance of baking the paint if it weren't for you😊

Heck ya Bobbi and I am glad I was able to teach you something!!! On this pit is very important to do it slow!!! This is just plain paint and they love to peel away but at least with plain paint you can always touch it up compared to powder coated pits, those are almost impossible to fix! Like always thank you for all your support!!!!
