Yamaha, but he would sound exactly the same on a Bundy. His sound has nothing to do with any brand of instrument. It's all Ernie, no one sounds like Ernie. Everyone thinks the instrument makes the player. What a joke to think like we all think when the truth is he plays incessantly and he does his thing. We all have different voices so why would sax be any different?
He plays the full range of the sax with so much ease! He's phenomonimal

Only time I saw him was with the Rolling Stones back in 1981 or 1982. His blowing made the whole band better.

Ernie used to play Yamahas but switched lately to German made Julius Keilwert tenor with custom neck + plastic reed (Sorry, don’t know the size)...

no its a Keilwerth, not a yamaha.
He plays Keilwerth saxes now. These were gold plated Yamahas and they were prototype saxes made for Ernie by Yamaha.
