to everyone saying "she's so perfect", of course she is. She's the initial model for the motion capture of this song, means she was dancing this on a green screen while captured with cameras, then all her motions were translated to computer language and applied to hatsune miku's model. She's basically the embodiment of hatsune miku's movement.
They usually animate everything with MMD, but this song is an exception. Probably because this song is produced by SEGA who has the money to hire actual model (and a cute one at that, damn) and the studio capable of motion capture. While most vocaloid songs are made by regular users, either popular DJs and producers (Mitchie M, Livetune, Hachioji P, etc) or unpopular ones (LV4, wonderK, me, etc) who don't have the money to rent the mo-cap studio.
I would say it's impossible for the live concerts to actually has live dancer back-stage. I'm currently studying about the mo-cap system and the movement is quite glitchy without being fine-tuned in post-production stage. For example, if the person moved just a bit outside the tracking area, or move too fast, the model would get anatomically destroyed (eg. its hand goes through its chest and its leg bends to the wrong direction). However I could be wrong, since we're talking about a grand company and pro on-stage technicians versus a mere animation student who hasn't even graduated yet.
SEGA doesn't use MMD to animate. I've heard this so many times! SEGA uses commercial programs. MMD is mainly for fan work. EG in all their older PD games they use Intrinsic Alchemy as an animation engine (which suggests they use Maya to prepare models too, not PMX Editor or anything like that.) Also all of their songs are now done with motion capture and it's been like that for a long time, the only time they haven't used motion capture is when it is too much work for a device or the team cannot simplify the motion in time, in which they'll just animate it manually off reference. As for motion capture, generally performance capture doesn't require being trained to keep your hands a certain distance away (they can compensate by padding the dancer) as it is cleaned up by a team after - commercial motion capture systems are very robust and don't just break when someone leaves the stage or moves too fast because they use so many cameras that this effect is generally avoided and is removed in post-processing (heck, proof of this is that you can use 2 or more old Kinects for motion capture with minimal glitching); motion capture models are imposed joint limits just like humans, so they can't get destroyed easily, as well as very detailed rigs.
calm down m8. didnt I write before that im currently studying animation? mocap is the only thing I can think off when we're talking about translating real-time movements to maya animation keyframes. if that's not the case, then id like to know more methods like this. and i didnt say a single thing about sega using mmd, their quality of model and movement is just way beyond that.
Yui was the motion capture dancer for this dance, so she knows this dance very well. Infact, in the making, they said Yui only did the shooting once becoz she was so perfect. They compared this final shoot with her reharsal video and they saw that it was perfect, her moves were exactly the same.
Haha, love that "SEEEGAAAA" at the beginning. xD Man, Ogura Yui sure knows how to dance. Even those punching moves look so feminine when she does them. o.O She has this really clean, dainty way of dancing. If she had hair like Miku, she'd be the cutest thing ever.
She's very lovely! I remember seeing this some years ago. However... I am a bit biased, and it is my opinion that Kanna Hashimoto, of Rev. from DVL, is the best idol dancer! :D
@Moonchild Bunny oh ive definitely worn plenty of skirts, theyre my favorite type of clothing. but ive never had one that spun that nicely, most pleated skirts don't spin like that
I'm sorry miss yur cute and a good dancer but i couldn't resist it !! I SHALL HIJACK THAT CAR !!!!! MWUAHAhahahahaha ! >:D Just kidden it's coool though

LulzingBoy you were right with mocap. they did use it and they have a video of an actor dancing in a mocap suit for the first miku concert.

Yui really did the voice of Minori Hanasato from Hatsune Miku Colorful Stage (Project Sekai).
