Thank you to Napa Valley Marathon for presenting us with original WBZ video of the famous 1982 "Duel In The Sun" with Alberto Salazar and Dick Beardsley.
Fantastic clip of one of the great races of all time ... Salazar and Beardsley both gave their all, both fantastic athletes ... and with the great Bill Rodgers behind them, it captures the unique heritage of Boston ... read the book, inspiring!
That was thrilling. Those motorcycles must have been annoying. I'm more likely to be harassed by the street sweepers cleaning up at the end of the day, but I can still sympathize.
Ah, the days when runners collapsed after a marathon, no excess EPO in their veins, I'd wager. Motorcycles probably prevented them from breaking the WR. Idiots.
Great video of a great race but the background music is irritating and unnecessary. Let the race speak for itself. There's no need to produce an MTV video.Simplicity speaks volumes.
This is so hard to watch with the annoying U2 audio. It sounds like two radio stations overlapping. It amplified my frustration as I needed to concentrate through the bleached video.

So happy they invented the gimbal !
Salazar drafted for miles and miles. Thank you Beardsley.
I just read the book about this race. Good read. Classic race.
Incredible.
What Jerks! Getting in the way of the motorcycles!

I hate bebilitating carbon dioxide..

What a zoo!
Blatant disregard for obstructing motorcycles and bebilitating carbon dioxide fumes being blown back in their faces & lungs.
