Ugestu really left aki because he loved him enough to know that he had to let him go because aki being with him gave more and more incecrutiys to aki. He saw how Haruki brung out a side to Aki and the saddest part is that Ugestu was waiting for Aki to break things off because he couldnt leave him just because he loved him so much. That is true love, to know you have to let go for both to move on and be happy. This song also shows and overall given shows that its okay to move on, its okay to leave a relationship with someone you love so dearly, its okay to forgive and give a second chance to someone who has hurt you in the past. No matter if you are not a bl fan, given is just so painfully beautiful and teaches so much lessons in love and really says its okay. I hope Ugestu finds happiness and someone who he can truly love, I hope Aki learns from his mistakes and becomes a man that is worthy of Haruki´s undenying love, I hope Mafuyu grows more and more, I hope Ue keeps on revealing a new side of Mafuyu, and lastly I hope Haruki will be happy with Aki, for he is soo strong for forgiving Aki and putting into light its okay to forgive someone who has hurt you and give them a second chance and help them be a better person. All the songs from Given have just hit me hard because theyre all devastatingly well written and beautiful. I cant wait till the movie comes out so I can see the moments in the manga in action :,) (edit after 2 years, I definitely don’t view their relationship in this light anymore. The movie is on gogoanime you can watch it for free but after watching i continued to read the manga and hoping that there will be a a next story for the side characters just like in the Manga that is still ongoing. About the songs that was used in the movie it is very moving and sad. My heart hurts so much. Im crying , i watched it 2x and im still crying.

Tbh, Given is the only anime that taught me how to love again, how to express my felings more and how should I let go even if it's painful. I really feel Haruki's emotins, Actually I kinda relate to him in more specific way. and besides fuyu no hanashi, this song really hits me in the heart... To non-weebs and non-bl fans, I think you should watch the anime ( or read the manga) so you would know what love is even if it is complicated.. Also, the author of this manga. Please continue this series. It taught me many great things. and a big round of applause making a great plot about love. PS. Given isn't your typical shounen-ai. It hits you in your deepest core of your heart

It means that even though the fact of letting go is painful, it's still okay. Letting go can also mean freeing yourself from the chains that's binding you to move on to the brighter light. Letting go can also means that you're approaching the dawn, to the end of the past and to the start of a new beginning. This song is basically an instrument of showcasing Ugetsu's story and some sort of "reaching out", that tells him that's it's okay to let go of Akihiko for the better. As well as Akihiko's story, that tells him that it's okay to let go in order to free himself and love someone new once more. To Haruki's side, to tell him that even though the one you love hurt you, it's okay to accept that person once more and love again. And lastly, the song is an instrument of showcasing Mafuyu's story, that tells him that it's okay to let go of the past, to let go of the pain, despair and especially regret he's feeling from Yuki's passing. The song is like a message to Mafuyu, telling him that it's okay to let go of Yuki but also remember the good times and the memories and start anew once more with Uenoyama. This song is beautifully painful. And crap, I'm crying right now. EDIT: I rephrased lots of parts on this comment since I just found out that this song is not the song Mafuyu will be singing on stage in the movie. I feel like the Kizuato guitar was included in this song to indicate how Ugetsu and Akihiko's toxic relationship in the previous segment of Given. And after that there's a violin part in the song which indicates Ugetsu finally letting go of Akihiko even though he's hurt deep down...don't worry, it's not only you...we true Given fans would recognize the guitar tune anywhere :))

I watched the anime and the movie yesterday for the first time. And look who's the moron who filed a leave today for work since he's been crying all day.
i think the fact that this song really is called "the theme song only for us" just really breaks my heart cause no relationship is as simple as staying together just because both parties love each other to death. there's no correct or justifiable explanation to describe the relationship Ugetsu had with Akihiko but the fact that they both were suffering just made my heart break and this song which wraps up how both parties are feeling especially the last few verses from the bridge just make me cry even more. ah I just really wanted to pour my gratitude and feelings for this song somewhere cause i have never been able to find a rs that was so similar to mine. because of this story and how this arc ended, it gave me the strength to let him go. and it was really the best for both of us as much as it still hurts me. i relate so much to Ugetsu so much although i was the one who let him go. sorry for the word dump! if you're able to find somebody who gives you as much light like how Uenoyama did for Mafuyu and how Haruki did for Akihiko then hold onto them, you are really lucky :') okay have a nice day yalls
Well I personally think that both Akihiko and Ugetsu are cruel in their own way. But in the end Haruki deserves the love he's been yearning for and Akihiko does clearly love Haruki in return and it shows in the way he's changing his way of life just to be a better man for Haruki. The fact that he's finally able to break his toxic relationship with Ugetsu that has been going on for YEARS is no easy task that should be put into account. Ugetsu meant so much for him but in the end Akihiko mans up and chases after the love he deserves😢
Yknow what this song feels like? It feels like youre just wanna cry out in pain,guilt and regret but at the same time, youre smilling because it felt like you just reborn, it felt pure and....refreshing? I feel like mafuyu is standing in front me, waiting for me to move forward but also telling me to take my time. I can't get over Centimillimental's excecution of emotions for this song. The singer's desperation in voice, the instruments' eagerness at points. These emphasize Ugetsu's point of view as a whole and I think that makes it beautifully tragic.
When this played at the ending of the movie I just fully broke down. Tbh, I ugly cried like I haven’t in a long time. It’s so real it hurts, seeing such complex emotions I’ve felt for so long being put into words and music. It’s just amazing to me

Why people didn't understand the feeling of Ugetsu for being genius and always being hating by his loved one. He exactly know Aki's passion for voilin is the same as him and Aki gave up because of his genius talent and stayed beside him unhappily, only caring for him, envy the success of him that he also aimed for. Ugetsu want Aki to play voilin again and see his best performance again. He also knew that is impossible while they are together. This is also affected for his creation of music. He can't do anymore to suffer Aki with his talent. He deeply in love with Aki... He is Ugetsu's first love. For the sake of Akihiko, he needs to him let go. But Aki felt lost when they broke up and he can't help but getting together. So there is no way other than to make Aki to leave with his willingness. So I can sense that he made other love affair infront of Akihiko. Ugetsu deserve being loved and happiness. He is a lonely genius who have only music. So he decide to stay left alone with music. this is what exactly what ugetsu feels and thinks, for sure. rewatched the movie for countless times, but i cant still imagine how hard it is for ugetsu to let go, and how he really wanted to chase akihiko when they officially let go of each other. akihiko has haruki by his side, and he knew that. but, ugetsu's alone in his suffering. i was really happy when i finally saw him smiling in the manga, standing in a window of the new bright apartment contrasts to his and akihiko's old home. it just means that, he finally lets go of his past with kaji, knowing the fact that he said that the basement they once lived, held a lot of them memories together. im so happy for him

Words cannot describe the impact that this song has had upon me. I never believed that a piece of music could touch my heart, yet the raw and painfully beautiful emotions held within this song have physically touched my very soul. Ugetsu is a beautifully crafted character; his love for Akihiko is eternal and the same could be said in reverse. They were each others first love and although it was not perfect, it was unforgettable. In life, you will inevitably make mistakes and it is your duty to learn from those mistakes. Ugetsu had learnt that even if you love someone, you will eventually have to let them go. People are not objects and even love can change/fade over time. Perhaps they were not soulmates or maybe they were but this teaches us that even the most beautiful relationships cannot last forever. Perhaps they met at the wrong time and under different circumstances could have lasted? They helped each other grow. Akihiko also learnt that some people either cannot be fixed or were not even broken to begin with. They loved until it exhausted them. Ugetsu was desperate to find companionship and Akihiko was desperate to save him. It was a beautiful tragedy that I will eternally admire.

i think the 0:48 boku wa ikuyo means "i will go" then "hey, look at me", kinda refers to how uegetsu felt when his relationship ends. he cried because he'll go forever and hoped akihiko to look at him.

Come to think of it's that's true the 2ñd part seems different I may have not read the manga yet but you can clear spot the vibe and even the rythm of the 2ñd one from the other's maybe it's sort of like haruki comforting akhihiko but it still feels sad that akhihiko completed his part beautifully but ugetsu never got the chance

The violin part hits so hard. I really hope a second season comes out, then Ugetsu gets to be happy like we all wished. I also rooted for Ugetsu coz he just wants Aki to not feel inferior around him and bring out his best self. But since he isn't the one to do that, he let's him go. He is such a great character in the progress in this movie. It's been a month since I've watched and rewatched the series and the movie, but the songs still hit me. And whenever I hear the violin part, I always tear up. Also how this ED became more orchestraic than the other EDs and OPs made me realize that Ugetsu became a part of Aki's life and will always be the source of how Aki became the person he was up until the day they finally broke up. *ugly crying in the corner.

You know how hard it is to deny the thing that you want most? I cried reading through Ugetsu’s story. All he want is to be loved, to be with someone. But he has to deny himself of that love because of his passion.

the lyrics from the song itself telling us about a love story in 3 stages. first, when the love he (refering to the singer which I think in Ugetsu point of view) always longed for, slowly becomes distance, he wanted to make it up. their relationship. "mou modorenai ne" "boku wa iru yo, nee mite te yo" we can't go back I'm here, hey look at me, I want us to be like before, laughing together at silly thing, getting mad at each other and made up after that. second stage, slowly he start to doubt about their relationship, he once really happy to have someone to lean on, but now he realized that their relationship is getting toxic and hurting each other. Yet, he still can't let go of his lover. His one and only other than violin. He need his lover to keep him sane. third stage, he slowly realized that he can't be selfish anymore. He realized that he stole his lover's dream and it'll hurt them more in the future if they're insist to keep this relationship. Ugestu really left aki because he loved him enough to know that he had to let him go because aki being with him gave more and more incecrutiys to aki. He saw how Haruki brung out a side to Aki and the saddest part is that Ugestu was waiting for Aki to break things off because he couldnt leave him just because he loved him so much.
That is true love, to know you have to let go for both to move on and be happy. This song also shows and overall given shows that its okay to move on, its okay to leave a relationship with someone you love so dearly, its okay to forgive and give a second chance to someone who has hurt you in the past. No matter if you are not a bl fan, given is just so painfully beautiful and teaches so much lessons in love and really says its okay.
I hope Ugestu finds happiness and someone who he can truly love, I hope Aki learns from his mistakes and becomes a man that is worthy of Haruki´s undenying love, I hope Mafuyu grows more and more, I hope Ue keeps on revealing a new side of Mafuyu, and lastly I hope Haruki will be happy with Aki, for he is soo strong for forgiving Aki and putting into light its okay to forgive someone who has hurt you and give them a second chance and help them be a better person. All the songs from Given have just hit me hard because theyre all devastatingly well written and beautiful. I cant wait till the movie comes out so I can see the moments in the manga in action :,)

The movie is on gogoanime you can watch it for free but after watching i continued to read the manga and hoping that there will be a a next story for the side characters just like in the Manga that is still ongoing. Tbh, Given is the only anime that taught me how to love again, how to express my felings more and how should I let go even if it's painful. I really feel Haruki's emotins, Actually I kinda relate to him in more specific way. and besides fuyu no hanashi, this song really hits me in the heart... To non-weebs and non-bl fans, I think you should watch the anime ( or read the manga) so you would know what love is even if it is complicated..
Also, the author of this manga. Please continue this series. It taught me many great things. and a big round of applause making a great plot about love.

Those are Mafuyu's words when he sang the band's second song on the stage which pretty much resembles the message of this song in its entirety. It means that even though the fact of letting go is painful, it's still okay. Letting go can also mean freeing yourself from the chains that's binding you to move on to the brighter light. Letting go can also means that you're approaching the dawn, to the end of the past and to the start of a new beginning.
This song is basically an instrument of showcasing Ugetsu's story and some sort of "reaching out", that tells him that's it's okay to let go of Akihiko for the better.
As well as Akihiko's story, that tells him that it's okay to let go in order to free himself and love someone new once more.
To Haruki's side, to tell him that even though the one you love hurt you, it's okay to accept that person once more and love again.
And lastly, the song is an instrument of showcasing Mafuyu's story, that tells him that it's okay to let go of the past, to let go of the pain, despair and especially regret he's feeling from Yuki's passing.
The song is like a message to Mafuyu, telling him that it's okay to let go of Yuki but also remember the good times and the memories and start anew once more with Uenoyama.
This song is beautifully painful.

i think the fact that this song really is called "the theme song only for us" just really breaks my heart cause no relationship is as simple as staying together just because both parties love each other to death. there's no correct or justifiable explanation to describe the relationship Ugetsu had with Akihiko but the fact that they both were suffering just made my heart break and this song which wraps up how both parties are feeling especially the last few verses from the bridge just make me cry even more. ah I just really wanted to pour my gratitude and feelings for this song somewhere cause i have never been able to find a rs that was so similar to mine. because of this story and how this arc ended, it gave me the strength to let him go. and it was really the best for both of us as much as it still hurts me. i relate so much to Ugetsu so much although i was the one who let him go.

Well I personally think that both Akihiko and Ugetsu are cruel in their own way. But in the end Haruki deserves the love he's been yearning for and Akihiko does clearly love Haruki in return and it shows in the way he's changing his way of life just to be a better man for Haruki. The fact that he's finally able to break his toxic relationship with Ugetsu that has been going on for YEARS is no easy task that should be put into account. Ugetsu meant so much for him but in the end Akihiko mans up and chases after the love he deserves😢

This is literally one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard
Why people didn't understand the feeling of Ugetsu for being genius and always being hating by his loved one. He exactly know Aki's passion for voilin is the same as him and Aki gave up because of his genius talent and stayed beside him unhappily, only caring for him, envy the success of him that he also aimed for. Ugetsu want Aki to play voilin again and see his best performance again. He also knew that is impossible while they are together. This is also affected for his creation of music. He can't do anymore to suffer Aki with his talent. He deeply in love with Aki... He is Ugetsu's first love. For the sake of Akihiko, he needs to him let go. But Aki felt lost when they broke up and he can't help but getting together. So there is no way other than to make Aki to leave with his willingness. So I can sense that he made other love affair infront of Akihiko. Ugetsu deserve being loved and happiness. He is a lonely genius who have only music. So he decide to stay left alone with music. The violin is the only thing to express his feeling of everything. How poor is he. He is suffering alone with his music. At the very end only music remain with him. Sorry for my poor english. I felt so sorry for him so I did my first youtube comment for him. Don't hate my poor baby.😢

this is what exactly what ugetsu feels and thinks, for sure. rewatched the movie for countless times, but i cant still imagine how hard it is for ugetsu to let go, and how he really wanted to chase akihiko when they officially let go of each other. akihiko has haruki by his side, and he knew that. but, ugetsu's alone in his suffering. i was really happy when i finally saw him smiling in the manga, standing in a window of the new bright apartment contrasts to his and akihiko's old home. it just means that, he finally lets go of his past with kaji, knowing the fact that he said that the basement they once lived, held a lot of them memories together. im so happy for him

this is seriously such a beautiful piece of music. and the backstory behind seriously fuckin messes w you. extremely powerful, the people who wrote this and composed this are literal geniuses.
I can feel every single word😭🤍 ... it hurts when you can't be with who you love, it hurts when you can't even just stand beside them....
But, it's hard...when you're near them....but, not even close.
Words cannot describe the impact that this song has had upon me. I never believed that a piece of music could touch my heart, yet the raw and painfully beautiful emotions held within this song have physically touched my very soul. Ugetsu is a beautifully crafted character; his love for Akihiko is eternal and the same could be said in reverse. They were each others first love and although it was not perfect, it was unforgettable. In life, you will inevitably make mistakes and it is your duty to learn from those mistakes. Ugetsu had learnt that even if you love someone, you will eventually have to let them go. People are not objects and even love can change/fade over time. Perhaps they were not soulmates or maybe they were but this teaches us that even the most beautiful relationships cannot last forever. Perhaps they met at the wrong time and under different circumstances could have lasted? They helped each other grow. Akihiko also learnt that some people either cannot be fixed or were not even broken to begin with. They loved until it exhausted them. Ugetsu was desperate to find companionship and Akihiko was desperate to save him. It was a beautiful tragedy that I will eternally admire.

i think the 0:48 boku wa ikuyo means "i will go" then "hey, look at me", kinda refers to how uegetsu felt when his relationship ends. he cried because he'll go forever and hoped akihiko to look at him.

Come to think of it's that's true the 2ñd part seems different I may have not read the manga yet but you can clear spot the vibe and even the rythm of the 2ñd one from the other's maybe it's sort of like haruki comforting akhihiko but it still feels sad that akhihiko completed his part beautifully but ugetsu never got the chance

The violin part hits so hard. I really hope a second season comes out, then Ugetsu gets to be happy like we all wished. I also rooted for Ugetsu coz he just wants Aki to not feel inferior around him and bring out his best self. But since he isn't the one to do that, he let's him go. He is such a great character in the progress in this movie. It's been a month since I've watched and rewatched the series and the movie, but the songs still hit me. And whenever I hear the violin part, I always tear up. Also how this ED became more orchestraic than the other EDs and OPs made me realize that Ugetsu became a part of Aki's life and will always be the source of how Aki became the person he was up until the day they finally broke up. *ugly crying in the corner.

You know how hard it is to deny the thing that you want most? I cried reading through Ugetsu’s story. All he want is to be loved, to be with someone. But he has to deny himself of that love because of his passion.

the lyrics from the song itself telling us about a love story in 3 stages.
first, when the love he (refering to the singer which I think in Ugetsu point of view) always longed for, slowly becomes distance, he wanted to make it up. their relationship.

second stage, slowly he start to doubt about their relationship, he once really happy to have someone to lean on, but now he realized that their relationship is getting toxic and hurting each other. Yet, he still can't let go of his lover. His one and only other than violin. He need his lover to keep him sane.
third stage, he slowly realized that he can't be selfish anymore. He realized that he stole his lover's dream and it'll hurt them more in the future if they're insist to keep this relationship.
He tried to do something bad, in order to make his lover hate him and leave him first since he couldn't let go of his hand. In the end, because his lover stayed there next to him, he decided to let go, even if this decision breaks his heart into tiny little pieces. He doesn't want to hurt his lover more than this.
