Unrelated to the project but I’m just about to buy a brand new caravan. I’ve narrowed it down to two manufacturers with one being Bailey. After watching your vlog and seeing the competence employed in creating the drain hole means I wouldn’t now ever touch a Bailey. Your vlog has been enlightening. Thank you.
There are Monday morning and Friday afternoon vans made my all manufacturers! If I was in the market for a new van it wouldn’t be a Bailey, they do make some good vans but not keen on the finish they have. Hope you find something you like. Cheers
Hello Martin, the reason Bailey installed a plinth for the drain valve to sit on would be to cover up the shocking mess that was made in the caravan floor. Usually these vales are secured directly onto the floor, being the lowest point. This also raises the question that will the system drain down correctly? As the dump valve should be at the lowest point. Keep warm. Kenneth.
Thanks for the video Martin... gives me the confidence to try these things out myself when needed... a considerable amount of expletives in my case though 😊👍
Great video young man 👍 our drain down pipe was dripping an noticed Phil from lost weekend was on about it a while ago and he changed his. Then after that ours got worse so changed ours. And your right the price of it is shocking from caravan dealers, Amazon was the cheapest an free postage 👍
Why do I always remember I haven’t thrown the yellow flap until I’m locking van door before moving off and the flap is under the seat and there’s now chairs, tables, and (insert any bulky item here” on the floor ! Jobs a Bobby Martin …good on yer H
That hole was probably drilled from the underside when was inverted for fitting the chassis. That is the sort of damage resulting from thin sheet being unsupported near the perimeter of the hole when a lot of pressure is applied by the cutter.
Great little video. All the manufacturers seem to have zero thought for the end eludes with stuff like this. Oh and the shody careless workmanship from them is shocking. Our 2023 swift has screws coming out and missing from the where the bulkhead joins the floor.
@@TheCaravanNut 💯 agree with you. Our 1st van was a 2010 sterling elite and it was built to last. Our 2023 is much nicer to look at but build quality is nowhere near what it used to be. Love all your informative videos you do too.
Good idea and tidy job Martin. The old drain valve hole your correct it's shocking workmanship shame on you Bailey employing wood butcher's. Thanks for sharing 👍
I do like your posts Martin. Why do designers think having service points under a bloody seat is a good idea is a joke. If I was king, the service points would be all accessible through the gas stations or similar.
I'm always forgetting to close the valve, when setting up the water! Cheers Martin, and have a good season mate! 👍
So do I, but now it’s easier to access! Cheers

Another great job Martin. Tricky job made to look easy
I edit all the swearing and mistakes out! 🤣 Thanks for watching

Yeah, I wondered about the wood over the top of the hole. Obviously to cover their shoddy work!
Thanks for comments and watching

I might have said a few expletives but I can edit them! 🤣 Thanks for comments and watching

Better to change as soon as there is an issue rather than spoiling your holiday. Always jobs to do with a caravan!

Jobs a Bobby Martin …good on yer
H
Will make it easier Howard…when I forget to shut or open the valve!
Thanks for watching
Great job Martin, 👍 keep it up.
Will try my best, thanks for the support.
Just like the 15mm house hold push fittings you can get the inserts for the 12mm push fits helps them create a better seal
Will have a look out for those, cheers
No wonder my sevice engineer does not favour Bailey caravans. They do have many positives though. I enjoy my Cabrera. Keep the tips and advice coming.
Think there’s issues with all manufacturers in some way shape or form. Puts me off buying a new one!
Thanks for watching
I think Bailey used an SDS drill to make that hole😮
Great video as always Martin.. looking forward to the next.
Best Wishes Linda and Glenn 👍
Yeah, it’s not the best workmanship I’ve seen. Will be easier to access now. Thanks for watching

@colinhale1431 yep, that would make sense. Drilled with a knife and fork!
Great little video. All the manufacturers seem to have zero thought for the end eludes with stuff like this.

Our 2023 swift has screws coming out and missing from the where the bulkhead joins the floor.
They don’t build them like they used to! They should take a pride in the work.

Nice one Martin 👍
Cheers, should be better.

Hi Paul, yeah I was shocked by that hole. Some people take no pride in their jobs!
Thanks for watching
great vlog great job
Cheers, much better now.
Neat job Martin well done explaining as always helps others
Baileys job shame on you hope someone from Baileys see this
Not the best example of good workmanship from Bailey! Must have been built on a Friday afternoon.
Thanks for comments and watching
You made that look easy x
Ha ha, I edit all the swearing and mistakes out! x
@@TheCaravanNut 😂😂
A job I’ve wanted to do for years! How do you disconnect the quick fit water connectors please?
You push the collar in on the fitting and pull the pipe out. A bit fiddly but easy to do.
Thanks for watching
They’re always in a bit of a sod of a place, in my old Elddis I had to be an acrobat as it was under the fixed bed at the back.
Think they do it on purpose David. Got to get their kicks somehow!

Thanks for the feedback. I do wonder what some of these designers are thinking when they come up with these ideas! Cheers
I'm sure the saying was would you risk it for a Swisskit lol.
Not sure about that one!
Been in the classroom all day, been brutal
But at least you learnt something! 🤣
Unbelievable I’d send a picture of that to Bailey and ask them to explain it
I would if I thought anything would come of it. A 12 year old van, they won't be interested. Cheers
Our drain down is in a awkward place too not much thought gone into making life easier for us 🙈
All about saving money not ease of the end user. Will be better where it is now. Thanks for watching
That original install by Bailey must of used a machette to make that hole. Be good to drill it out and fill it as you say!
Yep, not the best I’ve seen.
Thanks for watching
It never ceases to amaze me the lack of pride taken at the factory, how on earth can you go home at night after having done such a shoddy job. 😡🤦♂️
I know, I was a bit shocked. Just goes to show that some people have no pride in the job. Cheers
Nice job and makes life easier 😊 sadly bailey's have a reputation for shoddy workmanship - out of site out of mind must be thier motto....
Yes, definitely out of sight out of mind with this hole!
Much better now!
Thanks for watching
Looks like it was hacked out with an axe 😬
yeah, that's what I thought. Not good!
AHH yes the dreaded drain down valve that I always forget to close when setting up on site 🫢😂
Yep me too. Will be better now I can get to it from outside the van.
