My workhorse midrange is the DX Roc, and everything you stated is spot on! I don't think people realize how good and workable base plastic is. Nothing beats the feel and flight of a slightly seasoned DX Roc. When in their prime I'd say they glide much better than their premium counterparts. One thing I might add is the durability is better than you might think. It's not like a DX disc will only last a month and then it's done. I have a couple in my bag that have lasted 2 seasons. They are beat up, for sure, but they still hold nice lines. Great video, thank you!
MVP Electron is great. The overmold seems to slow the beating in. My Electron Matrix went 30-40 rounds before starting to give a slight turn. My Electron Terra is still beefy after a +30 rounds. 😎
Everyone points to the DX Roc and I agree. Used to avoid drivers in DX when I first started, thought they were too cheap to be throwing. Now my DX Eagle is probably my favourite Eagle in my bag. The thing just goes so much further than any of Eagle I own, still has a consistent fade as well, just the best haha. This reminded me to go and get some back ups, great video!
I’m from the PNW and thinking about getting a bunch of dx to use for the next 8 months. I already have issues with my sweaty hands on premium plastics in the summer. So hopefully dx will help me through our rainy months.
Yah could be helpful for sure. Trilogy base line plastics are not as common but also work well. I am also probably gonna do a video about some grip aids soon so keep an eye out. Could be helpful for sweat related grip issues for sure.
I use a DX Shark as I like how the mold is with water and open bomber/open tailwind but for backup, I got 2 F2 Valkyrie at 145 grams because the price was under $5 for the disc before shipping.
110% agree with this video. I gave myself a challenge to use only base plastic this winter. Took second in my division in a tournament last weekend. DX does beat in quick but if you want a great option for base plastic that is more durable and holds its stability longer, check out the Base Grip from Prodigy’s Ace Line.
For me as an MA1 player, its hard to trust dx as one tree hit can make a disc change its flight dramatically. Forcing me to buy and learn a new disc. I am a big fan of mid range pro plastics. They beat in after about 3 to 4 months of play.
I use 175 DX Aviars for putting, 180 DX Roc’s. The 167 DX Destroyer is one of my favorite discs! But! Innova “Pro Plastic” flies best, has the best grip and breaks in quickly. Innova discs are very unreliable and it seems no two are alike. The pre flight number discs were far better in terms of consistency.
I tried to use a base plastic (light) Sapphire, and for me it's an awful disc... On the contrary, I find very useful for approach throws (up to 55-60 m) any base plastic putters.

@@DiscGolfNerd I do love trilogy too I might have to check some used bins at disc golf depot to finds some base plastics from them.
Another great take that no one else is talking about.

Agree with the glide for sure, the DX Wraith was instant, unexpected distance gains I wasn't even looking for at the time.
Yah I honestly think some of the pro D Forces I had were the farthest flying discs I've used. At least as far as I can recall.
Any chance you were playing a round at Heckscher today on Long Island? I could’ve sworn I saw you but also didn’t think you lived around here
Haha good eye sir
That was me
Ugh, I should’ve said hi! I was in the crowd of folks there for the tag round. How’d you like the course?
Only got to see part of it but I had a good time. I liked that it had multiple tee options for sure.
Good points. Iceberg channel just had to beat a disc by throwing it on the concrete 50 times.
I had a pro-d buzz I miss it so bad.

Great video👍
Thankya
6) people will return your DX discs in the lost and found. The premium plastic not so much.
