    Hi - I ran on old I50 for Moorings out of St Lucia back in 2003/4. This brings back memories of us refitting her in Grenada - even down a rudder rebuild, although ours was due to delamination. Eva Lois was her name. Fun boat to sail and spacious galley.

    Very interesting Rick, I really envy you and your amazing life! It's been two years since we were there for our anniversary, and it's definitely on our list to visit again. Your videos always stir up my memories and put a smile on my face. Thanks! Brad in Denver

    I watch so many UA-cam videos. Standards are completely different than when I was trained in video (well, actually film) production. We deal with all the junk, it's that or don't watch UA-cam. I want to tell you it's really nice to watch professionally produced videos for a change! I've followed your channel since way back, when you were one of the only sailing channels. I need to make it over to your channel more often. I'm trying to find out what kind of boat you sail? I've forgotten. I'm not finding this information anywhere. I was looking for a boat tour video. Seems I saw one of those some time ago.

    "Don't damage the rudder." LOL BTW will you pick-up any speed with the hull cleaned up?

    • @SailingSophisticatedLady
      @SailingSophisticatedLady  10 років тому

      UFO Bob Yes, she's quite a bit faster already with a smoooooth bottom! :) Now we're getting same thing done to the dinghy, for same reason! ;)

    Rick, do they do all the sanding and painting and *then* reposition the support pads or are they constantly repositioning them at each phase to get access to the entire bottom?

    • @SailingSophisticatedLady
      @SailingSophisticatedLady  10 років тому

      they moved the pads around a couple times to make sure they had equal coverage on all parts of the hull

    Spraying Polyurthyane for the top coat would be the way to go.

  • @joshuas10

    Can you media blast the bottom coat off instead of sanding?

    I have painted airplanes in the airforce.. Epoxy primer is the way to go.

    Love the new series. No one ever wants to show how the sausage is made so I'm looking forward to this. Maybe throw us a bone with at least one b-roll bikini shot in these vids?

    Just wondering: has anyone ever soda / sandblasted a hull to get it down to a paint ready? It seems would be a lot faster, do a better job, and maybe cheaper on labor.
