I was a military brat and born in Japan. I also lived in Taiwan. I decided to bring out my beautiful pieces and use them in my decor in my bedroom a few years back. I painted the walls a sage green. I used the pieces that had such meaning to me as my decor items. My home is in no way a home built for this look, but I made it work. I find my bedroom to be such a calm and peaceful place to retreat to.

I'm from europe (Netherlands) and one of the things that seem to be very different from American "decorating" with us is we are very minimal for example "decorating a coffee table" is not a thing here.

Most people also don't decorate coffee tables here in the US. And if they do..usually it's not excessive

I have an appt in Oslo this Friday, I am popping in at Illums Bolighus as a treat. Will try the diningroom chairs I have gotten my eyes on. And measure if the armrests fit under the tabletop... the chairs I am looking for is the Y-chair from Carl Hansen & son. It comes in many colors and different wood types. They have sale on the soap washed beech wood model.. So excited 🙂 I wish I had your eye for details. We are putting my moms apartment out for sale, and I am doing the styling. Have taken much of the furniture out of there, decluttered and changed the ceiling lamps. Doing a light make over, so people will click on the ad and want to see more. There is no bed in the main bedroom, as my mom has moved into a care home facility. What I will do is dress up some moving boxes to look like a bed! It is starting to look great. Have booked a cleaner, sent one rug to the cleaners and the finishing touches will be fresh flowers and green plants.. Have been binching your videos lately for inspiration. 😅

Japandi is a style that has become very popular.
Both Japanese and Scandinavian styles are both fabulous. To combine them together, l can see why it is popular.
When you look back at Architectural and Interior history, there were times when period styles did combine or seamlessly flowed onto the new style. So, it makes perfect sense that two different styles have been blended together to form a new style.

I prefer the first two. Especially for bedrooms, baths and office spaces. I do use more color in my common areas. Living in South America,I have a traditional Spanish Colonial style. It’s very warm. I have lots of textures, but mainly Navy, terra cotta accents, with leather. My youngest daughter is building her house and it will be the last one, sweet escapes. It’s fun, she loves it. I like purchasing for her the pieces I would never use in my own home😂😂

    I’m in Virginia City, Nevada.
We’re in a constant time loop!
    And it’s haunted. Very haunted.
Victorian, Western, Gothic is the style here.
Although I live in the area in a newer, mid century modern, with an older build from 1944. We’re all over the place! lol 😂
San Francisco is VC’s sister city. We have a historical area and if there are any external changes, it needs to get approval from the historical commission.

    • @firestick4991
      @firestick4991 3 місяці тому

I style my mid century, in more modern styles.
In the ‘44 cottage, I do more classic, romantic and lush. I just painted that bedroom in Tanzanite and Black Sapphire. So that has more jewel tones. The trends I do, have to go into one or the other unit. The architecture dictates the trends I’ll incorporate. I’ll color drench in the mid century. I do different trim colors in the ‘44 cottage.

I like the descriptive words of the trends but there was a little too much beige for me and then too much colour. In Australia over the past 30 yrs have been yellowy cream walls, then mushroom taupe everything especially in bathrooms and then grey. I’m not sure Oz follows trends too much. I’m so glad I found your channel a few years ago as it’s opened my eyes to design around the world and encouraging me to explore how I want to express my personality through decor. ❤

With all do respect, but what? So the t-shirt and sweatpants wearing people have stylish homes? I guess it is what makes you feel like home, not that it is particularly stylish. The dark wooden kitchens, big furniture, awful recliners, carpets, even in the staircase, doors swinging inwards. Noop, I would choose European style every day. 🤣

Normally it’s not even up to them. The sponsors pay for a specific amount of time or text they have to read. She tries to embed the lines with her experience and thoughts of the product so we can now it’s something she appreciates and supports. If she comes in here and reads the brief point blank, people would say she’s a sellout. Think of it as a 10 min video with great ideas with an ad to support the creators making it.
