I got this album on Friday, probably listened to it four times already. Think it's an amazing album. The guitar solos and the drumming as you mentioned are fantastic. The singing just takes me away. I found it to be an emotional album, really enjoyed it. As you mentioned I didn't have high expectations but I've been blown away!
Hi there. This album had me at pre order. Marillion is a lifelong companion and subsequently sublime soundtrack to it yes, I too have not been this anxious since Marbles. I agree with your excellent review. Incredible textures throughout and the crow and the nightingale and Care are epics. I will definitely be returning to this over and over. I hear elements of Brave Marbles and Fear. Just a luscious aural experience. Thank you for this great vid. Long life to this band that I have loved since He knows you know
Are you the same Dave who regularly posts on the Thrash It Out podcast Fb group? I really enjoyed your thoughts on this album. I, too, really dig it; my fave since Marbles. "Care" actually moved me to tears... it made me realize I'm grieving 'something' due to the last couple years... being a healthcare worker, it resonated deeply
The reason they split the tracks up is so they get more streams online. I understand why they do it, but I don't see why they need to keep it that way for CDs.
@@arthurmol6875 yes ....after the first 3 or 4 listen i thougt Siera leone is a less stronger song..but since this morning i am totaly in love with this song...🙂
Love this album already. The only bit that jars for me - and we’re only talking about 15 secs here - is this lyric from Murder Machines: ‘Tested positive, No antibodies, No vaccine, No escape..’ - H is a great lyricist, and I felt that he could have worded it more poetically, rather than as literal as that. But that’s the only bit. Care is absolutely epic. Great vid btw!
interesting details. I got my download on Thursday, and it was just the 7-track version. I know on Spotify and other spots it's 18 tracks. The CD version that i have expected soon in the mail, I plan to show on my channel (and the Vinyl), but if the CD version resembles the streaming version with the suites, I'm kind of down about. I guess it may ultimately not matter, but initially, I prefer it as 7 tracks.
@@doopum1 I got the cd , did you see the live stream from Fish?It was good but in a strange way it was not as if you where there in person if you know what I mean , but I hope to see him live before he stops
@David Clark I did watch the live stream, it was cool, but not as cool when I saw him at Shank Hall in Wisconsin on the 13 Star tour. He stood at arms length away from me during Faith healer
Thanks, great review. Honest, clearly coming from someone who cares. Fans of Hogarth's TCD will know where "You've got to care" comes from. I've not seen my CD version yet, still in post, so I hadn't experienced the silence then bonus track part. I agree with you that does sound rather 90's. The Spotify version doesn't seem to have that, which is probably better. I think of the album as just 6 tracks ("Only a kiss" is essentially an intro to "Murder Machines", similar to Muse "interlude" to "Hysteria"). I think I heard that this modern Marillion tendency to split tracks (while being similar to old Yes, Genesis traditions) is partly driven by Spotify. It's been said that on FEAR, and I guess the same here, if the "album" only has a small number of tracks, it's counted as an E.P. and so generates less revenue to the artist. So if you split the tracks, you get more money. Ridiculous if true, and annoying for playlists, but that's life I suppose.
Dissappointed with this album. Reprogram the gene and Crow and the nightingale are probably the only tracks that I like. The rest of the songs bore me and sound derivative too often.
Marillion están olvidándose de los pasajes instrumentales. Y ya hace demasiados años. Se hacen derrogar en la faceta sinfónica. Es cuestión de gustos en el rock-progresivo. Demasiado protagonismo en la voz y quita credibilidad.
"They are forgetting the instrumental passages. And it's been too many years. They are made to be overthrown in the symphonic facet. It's a matter of taste in rock-progressive. Too much prominence in the voice and takes away credibility." No creo que tengan la voz demasiado alta, a veces creo que es un poco demasiado callado en realidad. ------------------------------- I don't think they have the voice too loud, sometimes I think he's a bit too quiet actually.
As a graphic designer the cover works fantastically I believe, it’s a graphical representation of “An Hour Before It’s Dark” :)

That is me. I hope I explained why I am glad they didn't go with that care image for the cover
@Fairly Secret Music I feel you did. Woulda been a crap cover image f'sure 😄
Yet another incredible Marillion album. Can’t stop listening to this masterpiece
Great review thanks for posting🎼👍🇺🇸

Fantastic songs…can not decide which one is the best
Crow and Care

oh, and I adore those H lyrics from Holidays. He's hit and miss, but his best lyrics at times can elevate many of those tunes.
Hi after Fish left I did not get into Marillon for a long time ,I am looking forward to getting the new album
I hope this video was helpful to figure out which version to get on cd...if you get cds over vinyl? Let me know what you think! Thanks for watching.
I get all the Fish solo albums too. I did a Fish dicography video a while back too

That's a good reason to split the tracks then
Looking forward to this, still in the mail... you really think people are still making "mix tapes" lol?
No, I don't but it was funny to talk about like I did
@@doopum1 Kidding aside, would be nice if people still did
Care of angels? Is this an extra track not on the standard album?
Sorry, it's called Angels on Earth and part of Care. My mistake

Not digging it at all. To preachy for me. Very dull.
I think it's way less preachy than the last few
I disagree its one of Hogarth's weakest vocal performances
Interesting? Have you liked the last few
