I love this! Congratulations Jeff! Knowing all the time and effort you put into this airplane and seeing your face on that take off and how you were so focused and after that first crosswind turn your shoulders dropped and your face relaxed and as the flight progressed I could hear you think "Ya , I got this." ...and then your neck relaxed and you started to look around now you knew how it was flying and then I could hear you think "Ya ,I did this ! .. and even patted yourself on the left shoulder. I am so lucky you were kind enough to take valuable time away from this build to repair my broken DVa wings and got my airplane flying again. You are a great inspiration to the community ,and i just want to say thankyou for all you have done. You set a great example for all of us. Hope our flight paths cross again.🤞👍 .
@@jeffery7756 I will when I have something to film. It's disassembled and waiting it's turn in my hangar. ( Pitts S1s project and Chipmunk recover jobs first)
My first time here. The stabilized and gimbaled camera is fantastic on this flight. Other presenters could learn from this. Must have cost a fortune. I’ll be back!
Jeff, congratulations!!!! If only the people watching this video knew how fast your brain was working the whole time. Funny how 20 minutes can wear you out. I do envy your loooong grass runway . Many happy flights
Amazing 👍👍 looks like riding a Motorcycle 3D in the Air 👍 Congrats to that nice pice of History.😀 Holm und Rippenbruch 🍀🍀🍀🍀 Greatings from Cologne Germany🍺
Can you do a 'walkaround' video at some point, so we all get to see the various details? You could explain how hard it was to achieve certain elements, and the thinking behind certain choices (including the engine).
Thanks for your support!! A while back, you did a video on how to start the Mercedes engine. I would love it if you made something like that with step by step instructions. That knowledge will be lost over time.

Look at me Ma! I’m flyin’, I’m flyin’! Open cockpit, the only way to fly….or gyro plane.😃Awesome. Look at the fabric moving on the side of the fuselage and how thin the control surfaces are on the tail.
One of the things about open cockpit flying is how you can smell stuff that you fly over. Cattle, high octane fuel when flying over the drag strip, or flowers when flying over the farms. It's really awesome. BTY ... nice tractor project!

The cockpit is exactly like the original. The instrument board is a Albatros version instead of a Fokker or OAW version because I needed four switches and the FOK/OAW instrument board only had 3 valves. The windshield is the correct height and size ... Without the guns installed it does look too tall. The Fokker DVII at knowelton, canada is one of the most authentic (unmodified) original DVIIs and their windscreen is 3" taller than the guns. Here is a video where the guns are installed and the windscreen looks the right height. ua-cam.com/video/T3fi-TbgpAU/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I know, right ... But what I can't figure out is how this video gets 23K views and the other videos which have more editing and better points of view only get 1K views. For some reasone they algorythem likes the selfie.

This is incredible and very well done. Thank you for sharing!
on ne voit rien du tout en réalité . uniquement un plan moyen sur un type en l'air . de l'avion , absolument rien . dommage .
Loved every minute of it,what a fantastic bloke

Paul, Thanks for commenting.I can't wait to see your DVII on UA-cam.
The pictures you sent look great.

Did you see any of them pesky Chicom J-35s up there?
LMFAO!
You need a Sopwith Camel to play with.
Definitely!
I'm jealous
Didn't see any flying dog houses piloted by a beagle while you were up there?
The dog only shows up when the triplane is flying.
The dog never recognized the Fokker DVII.

Wait, no parachute? You can also overdo reenacting...
Where is Eddie Rickenbacker?
Just a t-shirt ? 🙂 I know that was in the middle of summer, but being so exposed in the airflow , doesnt it get quite chilly after a while ?
It's very comfortable.
On a warm sunny day, the propeller is a welcome breeze.
Plus, we aren't going high enough to be effected by the temp drop.
wauw !!!!
Cool
Is It possible to youse thermal Lifts with this beauty airplane?
Yes. the wing loading on this plane is very light and if I were to fly over a thermal the plane would float upwards.
Is this the TRUE Red Baron? I get his pizzas at Kroger.
No, not the red baron ... more like baron von doublechin

FLY ON J...IT BEATS MY CHOPPER...

Der dicke would be proud.
Yeah, But his plane was all white and given how dirty mine gets from the exhaust it would be all black on one side in a year.
@@jeffery7756 He liked to stand out from the crowd.
where is you scarf
I usually save it for airshows as the exhaust turns it from white to dark.
Camera view kind of sucked.

The cockpit looks to be modified. I don't like the little windshield, it looks too tall and very flimsy.
