The saddest day ever for me was when I found this out when I graduated high school... They're still my heroes to this day though it's about to be 2022, and I am still rocking out to Isis, that will never change
It really saddens me that they broke up. This must be like the 4th time I found out about an amazing band that broke up recently. I hope one day they do albums and tour again. They were just too amazing for that not to happen again. Every album they made was just fantastic
Endless Static I search for any hidden recordings and live film here and across the boards in internet searches. Hard to let them go? yes yes yes. I search through Wavering Radiant for clues of how it fell in the abyss. When blasting Oceanic while driving in town or on the hiway so perfect, so heavy and drone-y the speakers force so much bass through my truck that it rumbles and acts as a subwoofer. Isis, so missed and such a great band.
A fantastic output of incredible music over only 13 years? Wow! So creative and talented, thanks for the great music gentlemen, what a gift you guys are!
I love their music, but I like the fact that they're quitting on an absolute high. Wavering Radiant was/is just epic beyond words. Best way to go, if you have to go.
There will never be another collection of artists that will rival the trancendent music we have witnessed here. Wavering Radiant was so good it was frightening, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. If you guys think of anything else to say, please don't hesitate to tell us.
isis is an artistic band. i hate growling, as i did as well with isis. but if you're truly a fan and you've listened to the music, they made it in a way that if you replace it with regular vocals it loses it's power. you can't tell me false light would be better if it was sung normally.
At least they're going out while they're sound is still strong. So many bands will just ride on the success of their previous albums while they churn out a couple more mediocre records before disbanding. Some of them won't even just give up, they continue to shit on their once godly reputation (ahem...Metallica). Isis didn't want to be that band. For this, the name Isis will be known as a selection of musicians who never diluted their sound, never compromised their vision. RIP, ISIS.
yes U guys will be missed, but I guess if it was time to let it go then it was time. They did what they wanted to accomplish, ya know touring, be around the same band mates for years, musical directions, conflicting situations both musically and in life! Im sure their was a host of issues, but they did on there terms and it was done at a point were they eneded it on a more positive note than it could have been! Everything u guys did , were an amazing journey into ur musical prowess, way ahead of ur time and one of the most unique bands I have ever been exposed to. Isis was genius!!! enjoy ur lives only the best success to u guys! Thanks for everything!
@evanisgay11 The guy in the video here. I met Cliff too in Philadelphia back in 2003 at one of their shows. I've met them all except for the drummer. They're really down to Earth, no frills, straight up. I'll never forget one performance, they came out, didn't say anything, played their set, and when they were done, Aaron was like "Thank you all for coming," and they walked off. No attitude, no nonsense, no foul ups, just heavy and austere brutality for an hour and a half, then finito.
Saturday October 13th Isis will reunite as Celestial for a concert benefit supporting the memory of Caleb Scofield and his family. I will be in attendance. Not trying to brag, but I'm extremely happy I will get to see this band perform live at least once in my lifetime.
And all you have to hope for is the magic of them reuniting will spark a motivation to try another album.. man you have no idea how dissapointed i was.. i started listening to this band by trial on grooveshark in 2010 . then i find out they disbanded in 2010 .. and their last show was in Montreal. God damn i live in montreal lol
I got to see their last 2 nyc shows. My 9th and 10th time seeing them. I'm still shell shocked over this. One of my absolute favorite bands. I miss them already :(
In regards to the Metallica Shirt, some instrumental segments of Wavering Radiant reminds me of the accoustic ”so low is the sky” part of Low Man’s lyrics
ISIS forever and ever... could never get enough of your guys amazing music. ill continue to be a fan forever, and share my many great memories(ur music) and stories with friends alike.
@evanisgay11 Was this in Washington State? If so, that's awesome. The same kind of thing happened to me when I went to my cousin's wedding in Portland, Oregon. I had no idea what was going on up there, not from there, but decided to wander out into the town on my own, ended up seeing in the city paper that MUDHONEY was playing that very night. Caught a cab to the venue and it was one of the best gigs I have ever been to. Why is the Pacific Northwest awesome like that?
There is something to be said for going out in top form. And, as always, in the music biz there is usually more to the story than what they will say publicly.
one of the worst days in music in many years. when i think of music and the bands around today i dont really like what i see, but i'd always console myself think, well, at least guys like isis are around. they make music worthwhile. im happy to have known them and heard their music however. i look forward to their future projects outside of isis, and am particularly curious if any of them will join maynard in the new embodiment of a perfect circle.
God. I miss them so much, I see this videos every week. Huge unforgiven band. THey seem strange at this video, something happened..it wasnt because they had individual conflicts only, at least it seems from the way they talk...
@CyValkarion Well, it's not really any of our business. Whatever "internal tension" Aaron's referring to is strictly between him and the rest of Isis. We're just the ones lucky enough to have been exposed to their music.
My personal top 3 bands that broke up without making it that deserved it in my eyes in no par'icular order: Sikth, Isis, Pulse Ultra. If you havent heard any of, try them. I believe you will find much happiness.... lol
if you do come to that conclusion it's simply because your ego won't allow you to mature and realize that art can include anything if soul is put into it. grow up. aaron turner knew he couldn't sing, thats why he made the music he made! THATS WHY HE'S A GENIUS! HE KNEW!!
some people try to milk glory for all it's worth; others understand that it's better to quit while you're ahead. better to quit while you still have 1 more good album in you than to slowly wither over the course of 2-3 crappy albums.
@jacob7207 It was June 16th in Washington with The Melvins and it was sheer luck. I was just there with my family on vacation and I had heard Isis was playing and had to beg my parents to give me a ride haha. Thank god I got to go.
@PoHakk I too am sad they disbanded, but I dont believe this is the end of these musicians work. Of course they are and have done on to do more things. At least we can hold on to isis in our hearts.
Didnt stick around way after their prime, like other bands. Not that Isis would go to crap IMO but they could always stagnate, or at least put out similar/sub par records. They went out on top, didn't twist and die like many. Like everything they did, even their end was perfectly executed
of what senseless bologna do you speak? Isis reached a peak with an endless plateau, in which inspired new atmosphere. There is no justification as to why wavering radiant was less potential than the rest of their albums, as they are all one. Isis is one story, you cant say that someone made a great story without a proper conclusion.
Isis may be done. There albums will still go on forever. Timeless fucking band.
Saw ISIS live 3 times. On the Oceanic tour, Panopticon tour and Wavering Radiant tour. These guys pretty much made my life better.
Lucky you Buddy!
Even 1 show would be epic.
You and me both
Will _always_ and forever be one of my favorite bands.
The saddest day ever for me was when I found this out when I graduated high school... They're still my heroes to this day though it's about to be 2022, and I am still rocking out to Isis, that will never change
2024
I watch this from time to time, thinking it somehow differs from the last time, but each time, it ends the same. :(
One of the most unknown and underrated band.
It really saddens me that they broke up. This must be like the 4th time I found out about an amazing band that broke up recently. I hope one day they do albums and tour again. They were just too amazing for that not to happen again. Every album they made was just fantastic

Time for Protest the Hero
Just in time too. "Isis" was about to take on a new meaning in the early 2010's. It would no longer be anodine to call yourself "a fan of Isis".
really hate that I never saw em live.
ending on a high note. that's very respectable. great band, great things have to end. glad they don't all hate each other
I miss this band. Glad to have experienced what they did.
The seinfeld of post metal: leaving on a high note.
I don't get it. Seinfeld is not funny btw.
Seinfeld not funny? Damn boy, you must be high af. You might not like it, but the funny is there. One of the best series of all time.
seinfeld high is trippy af lol @@WanderLucifer
@@coryleblanc it's awesome I know xD
much respect. 'said everything and done everything they wanted to'. one of the few bands that knows to stop when they feel it
Mosquito Control is still one of my favorite Albums
A fantastic output of incredible music over only 13 years? Wow! So creative and talented, thanks for the great music gentlemen, what a gift you guys are!
They did it right. The quote says it all. Bands get in trouble when they try to force out songs the jus come out over produced and without emotion.
I love their music, but I like the fact that they're quitting on an absolute high. Wavering Radiant was/is just epic beyond words.
Best way to go, if you have to go.
Sumac official redeemed this decision. Two incredible full length releases.
Coming across your comment 4 years (and several SUMAC releases) later, and I can't agree with you more.
lol sumac is just caveman noise compared to the intricate composition of isis
There will never be another collection of artists that will rival the trancendent music we have witnessed here. Wavering Radiant was so good it was frightening, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. If you guys think of anything else to say, please don't hesitate to tell us.

RIP, ISIS.
Unfortunately I couldn't go to their shows :( I really hope they come back to work some day.
Remember few years back when isis was becoming a thing and some hillbilly ripped my shirt off thinking it was about the haji’s and not this band.
🧢
Saddest day in the history of mankind
Not even Trump becoming president can compare to Isis' breakup...
I just know they will be back one day. We have to believe in it
there is hope again!

Damn shame if you ask me. As much as it sucks, in life all good things must come to an end....

These guys need to reform to be the support act on the just announced upcoming Tool tour.
Fucking art. Awesome.
Brilliant band, influcencing many of the post metal acts coming out today.

where is that live material from? It sounded good
Anyone know the name of the song at the start of video ? :)

In my opinion, they were one of the most unique and great-sounding bands.
I would give my kidney to see them live once again :(
At least you got to see them. I became a fan just a few years after they split. Same with Sonic Youth.
There is something to be said for going out in top form. And, as always, in the music biz there is usually more to the story than what they will say publicly.
I love Aaron Turner's transition from the buzzcut tough guy look to full blown Pacific Northwest Forest man. Dude is a genius, love ISIS.
Don't take this out of context...

@jacob7207 Was it Cliff or Michael? I've meet Cliff and he's a great guy.
I feel great full that I was at their last show, a very memorable band.
I can only hope this means some possible new material from Old Man Gloom
...all they left us with was great music. Thanks guys :-)
@evanisgay11 I saw them in San Francisco on that tour. Where did you see them?
I just found out last week. They played in boston in June, I had a chance to go, but passed, thinking I'll just see them next time....
God. I miss them so much, I see this videos every week. Huge unforgiven band. THey seem strange at this video, something happened..it wasnt because they had individual conflicts only, at least it seems from the way they talk...
Best post metal band of all time!
Good call, Isis. Takes a lot of guts to call it a day on something that's commercially successful but artistically complete.
Saw them open for TOOL back in the day....fucking killer!!
Aaron's tattoos on his arms are houses and gardens... Anybody knows why?
@CyValkarion Well, it's not really any of our business. Whatever "internal tension" Aaron's referring to is strictly between him and the rest of Isis. We're just the ones lucky enough to have been exposed to their music.
For some reason I've always gotten the feeling those guys were hiding things from us.
Nice joy division shirt!
I knew this was going to happen...i was thinking about them. The end is near
Aaron turner = post metal incarnation

same goes to me, I just hope they'll re-unite one day!
If any1 hear any news as to the release date of the dvd, PM me! Glad I got to see em live here in Norway before they spilt.. *sniffles*

The world lost some amazing musicians. I can't wait for the final EP that they promised though.

@blogtvpunk What's that supposed to mean?
Bummer! what a creative band they were...
i never got to go to any isis concert and show my support. damn, i get why they're not around but it's a huge bummer

And express themselves they have. Holy fuck was their music amazing.
didnt imagine aaron to look or speak like that
You spelled Maynard wrong in the description...
@davethehostage I completely agree. I'm just disappointed I discovered them after they broke up :(
they will never die
Seen you on aereogramme song too. Great taste
Now I'm sad. In 2017. The universe is broken.

I was at that bonaroo show
Respect guys. Pretty gutted really, but atleast the music will live on with integrity.
I love his vocals.
Aaron and Mike G should just get back together. They made ISIS what it is.
no. if you take away Harris and Caxide, you lose 65-70% of their sound.
Aaron wearing a joy division shirt.
One of the most depressing vids I've ever watched.
Hey at least we still have tool.
They broke up because they realized they havent wrote a sweet song since poison eggs
Theshold of Transformation = The culmination of their whole career.
perhaps the most versatile. he sings everything then he does that soft chick voice stuff and it still rocks. weird.
@skate4life2022 How is that?
Glad I got to see them in 2006...
their music was too epic and children were starting to spontaneously die throughout the country. The federal government asked them to please stop.
"Manyard James Keenan"...lmao...
i look forward to when they reflect and revive the magic that is Isis.
miss them already
If that's how you want to phrase it, then yes, the conclusion to the story sucked.
Aaron has really let the hair go....
