    Great idea with the ice cream stick. Always up for a new trick or two, that blank looks like it's all ready for a nice new Fuji K guide now!! I appreciate the effort of posting this.

    Nice video, great demonstration.
    Can you strip one side of the guide and re do it without removing the whole thing? If the guide feet are epoxied separately of course (not like the rod in your example)

    Hey mate, awesome video. I'm thinking of stripping a build i did as im not happy with the finish. Can you save the guides when you remove them. if so how do you go about cleaning the guides of epxoy

    • @n1ckxlam
      @n1ckxlam  6 років тому

      definitely save the guides. Just use a toothpick and some heat to pick out the epoxy from the guide feet

    Nick, thanks for the video. It's still helping folks 5+ years on. Question for you: why is the one section of the blank white/clear?

    • @n1ckxlam
      @n1ckxlam  2 роки тому +1

      I believe its a reflection of the light. It's a graphite/plain blank with clear coat

    Would this work on a colored blank? Neon blue in particular. Might have to space out my guides differently

    Hi, I have been trying to repair rods and reels for a little while now..... the biggest problems I have are finding the right tools for the jobs??? Can you tell me, what are you using, did you make or buy your rod holder? Is it a rotisserie?

    Does this also work with blanks that have a finish on them from the factory?

    • @n1ckxlam
      @n1ckxlam  6 років тому

      Clear finish should be ok. Paint gets finicky as it can come off really easily sometimes.

    They make plastic razor blades that you might find helpful for scraping

    How can I just replace the inserts within the 'guide'? The plastic ring/circle within the guide broke.

    • @n1ckxlam
      @n1ckxlam  7 років тому

      The guide has to be replaced, those inserts are usually ceramic and have very very tight tolerances

      do you know what are good brands of guide? thanks. i dont know if i should just take it to a shop as i dont have the tools. a shop was asking for $12 to replace the tip guide w/ part included. thanks

    • @n1ckxlam
      @n1ckxlam  7 років тому +1

      rod tips are easy and cheap, they sell kits at tackle stores usually. Just follow the directions for those. Guide repair is different, that should be done by a someone who wraps guides/rods. Fuji, alps, pacific bay, american tackle company, are all good brands
