Going through the same right now, crying while binging Olivia’s songs. Me and my crush were super close and even intimate (hooking up, cuddling, making out, holding hands) for months, even tho we weren‘t together. Found out he was trying to get with other girls at the same time and that he just thought I was hot, but didn‘t want anything serious with me. Apprently he told others he thinks I’m in love with hil. My stupid ass even had wanted to confess my feelings to him, but thankfully someone telling me the things he had said, saved me. I feel your pain... But at least it‘s comforting to know we aren‘t alone and that there are songs out there that help cope with the pain
Paramore, Swift, and Lorde are definitely clear influences, but this project also strongly reminded me of early 2000s pop punk groups like the Veronicas and the Donnas. It's fantastic
I saw this and said "Good luck, Bill." Congrats on moving! This album is so good I didn't understand the hype around Olivia until it came out and I was blown away. I had never listened to Driver's License so I really am living under a rock... This is an album that hurts cause it's relatable and she's so specific with her lyrics it just feels like ur going through a story. Such good writing. If I could suggest something for the future (even though I know you have some kind of list for sure) I'm excited to see you take a look at Melanie Martinez and Madison Beer is another person I would recommend. Not gonna list a bunch of songs since I'm just tossing the names out there lol
Yes yes so much! I made a really bad mashup of the two bc I have no idea how to mash up songs but even with my very bad skills they sound good together
okay I've been listening to this album since it came out and I've been obsessed with watching videos of people reacting to it so I've seen at least 5-6 whole album reactions but can I just say how genuinely nice this video was? everything you said was just so kind and sweet and I love how your focus was on your actual reactions and thoughts rather than just playing the whole songs. So fun fact, in 1 ste9 forward, 3 steps back, Olivia sample New Year's Day by Taylor Swift but she played it on the piano so Scooter wouldn't receuve any money. Also Taylor Swift and Jack Antanoff colaborated in the writing of the song
That's true but Taylor and Jack didn't help write it. They were given writing credits because they have to credit the artists for sampling their music.
Bill! I love that you did this album because I love Olivia so much. Being so young and singing so raw that I once again feel like I’m 17. Plus that pink/pop sound is sooo great. I’ve listened to this album so many times and it’s continuing to be played over and over when I’m feeling down
hope ur ok is probably about how she's met and known people who have gone through things that are much more worse than what she went through. It's human nature, we feel better when we see how small our difficulties are when compared to other people, and how privileged we are without realizing and acknowledging. That song makes me cry so bad
I haven't seen any comments about it yet, but favorite crime is more literal in the sense that the partner that she is writing about was 18 and she was 16, so them dating was technically an actual crime. Everything else that you gave in your analysis was super insightful and interesting, and I think this could maybe enhance that. Anyway, I always love your commentary, and you always give some really great perspective. Thank you!!!
Hi bill, did you notice "The Avatar's Love" playing at the end of Hope ur ok? To me that's such a perfect bookend to the album. It's like the ending of a wholesome episode of Avatar and bring such positive nostalgia to this moment. I love it so much

Whenever I hear Olivia Rodrigo I still feel automatically think actress, but every song I’ve heard from her I’ve loved. I really think she might be remembered for a long long time. In the future she’s going to be legendary
I saw someone saying react to Chloe Moriondo, which I second, but her new album Blood Bunny is the best representation of her work. I'd recommend: Manta Rays, What if it Doesn't End Well, Bodybag, Take your Time, Slacker and Strawberry Blonde for analysis
I really enjoy your reactions! :) Sour is such a great album. I've been listening to it almost constantly. I loved re-listening to it with you! I'd love to see you try to stan Ashe (or her album Ashlyn), Louis Tomlinson and Orla Gartland (who is a great friend of dodie's)

great video! this made me love the album even more. I personally loved watching all the react channels videos about sour but this was definitely my favorite; you talk about the lyrics so interestingly! Favorite crime was so emotional for me as well and was my favorite for that reason. I liked that the metaphor made the complex relationship a bit more understandable while also still keeping it ambiguous. beautiful but tragic
jealousy jealousy is my fav song off the album. it hits on a new level. i grew up with the internet and currently am and i let everyones positives have a negative effect on me. i constantly compare myself and wish i could be people i dont even know. its so toxic.
I love how this album is like the five stages of grief like as soon as you feel like you can let them go or you know someday someone will treat you the way you deserve something the next day will take you all the way back to the anger and hurt
hi bill, thank u so much for your insight on favourite crime !!!! I grew up in abuse and had a horrifically abusive relationship 2 years ago when I was 16, and that song hit me really hard and I haven’t seen anyone else realize the implications of the song. It was really validating, thank you!!
Just recently started following you, n I must say I love your reactions.... your vibes & the things you gotta say are awesome... n about ur situation @ home, it will get better bud ✊😎 hang in there.. you matter 😊👍
im so happy you read favorite crime as darkly as i did fills me with some peace, most people read it as just a bad breakup/relationship but i always immediately thought that darkest reading when i listened. probably from experience but... i took crime and accomplice and alibi very literally....
this video and your take on the songs were brilliant i always appreciate your perspective!! you should react to Waterparks, they dropped a new album called Greatest Hits on the same day as Olivia Rodrigo, and it has a really interesting sound. much love
i absolutely LOVE finding pop culture references in music. the 'deja vu' mv and 'good 4 u' mv are both inspired by a fair few films and tv shows. deja vu was inspired by Ingrid Goes West and Killing Eve, and good 4 u had the cheerleading outfit from Princess Diaries and you were right with the Jennifer's Body reference. except for Princess Diaries, they all contain lead female characters that are considered psychotic, kind of like the media portrays her out to be. and in Princess Diaries the main female character is into a guy with the same name as the ex she sings about.
I totally recommend listening to the rare americans, particularly their two newest videos: "Baggage" and "Mama Bear" "Brittle Bones Nicky" is really good too and has a sequel Great video as always 💜💜💜
hey bill, i hope that you’re doing okay! thank you so much for all of the effort and energy and time that you put into these videos. they(and you) are so wonderful. i’m not sure if you care or still enjoy cavetown-but he just released a new ep that i think you’d really like! anywhoozers take care!
I didn’t really like driver’s license initially because it wasn’t my type of music, but I loved most of the songs on this album (especially brutal and good for u). Her music is so versatile and for that I admire Olivia Rodrigo. Also how sad is it that traitor and enough for you fit two of my past relationships
For me enough for you really gets me because I’ve been there where I’ve torn myself apart just to be enough for someone who never really cared and it really hurt me but when I realized how hard I was trying and how they just weren’t I left because even though it hurt like hell I knew it’s what I needed and honestly it still hurts sometimes but I’m doing better because I know I’ll find someone who dose care some day
God, I love you !!!! I got those same interpretations from Favorite Crime and I related and I felt valid but also invalid bc I thought I was being dramatic. But it feels so much better that I’m not the only one who kinda understood the trauma with that song!
I would suggest youd listen to Marianas Trench! They're a canadian band and talk a lot about mental health issues, as well as addiction (the lead singer, Josh, had an addiction to heroin before the band started). I would recommend either their old stuff (Lover Dearest, Masterpiece Theatre Part one/two/three, Fallout, September, Say Anything) OR their most recent stuff, particularly their album Phantoms or Astoria, since its supposed to be played like a movie soundtrack.
i’m usually too scared to comment but omg i never thought i’d see someone comment about Marianas Trench yes this would be absolutely amazing. i think he would love the meanings behind the lyrics and just the musical talent the 4 of them have. it would be awesome if he reviewed the new album whenever that comes out as well bc it seems like it is gonna be amazing from the small clips Josh has shared:)
1 step forward 3 steps back, enough for you, favorite crime, and hope ur ok fcked me the fck up. relatability aside, she really knows how to compose her lyrics in the way that even though i never experienced that personally, i was easily sucked in and empathized with her. everything felt so vivid and real and concrete as if i was there myself. i love her self-awareness, while also recognizing that it's not her problem, it's him problem. plus point for brutal and good 4 u for summoning my teen angst rage to the front 😂
id love to see your reaction to mxmtoon! some songs id recommend are: porcelain unspoken words dream of you fever dream almost home asking for a friend first love your work :)
while being only a few years older than her this album is so nostalgic for me even tho it's new. i remember being in high school and feeling so many of the things she expresses from favorite crime and being in relationships with people older than you who you shouldnt be with to brutal talking about how the world is shit and teenagers get hit with the brunt of it.
PLEASE DO A REACTION IN BO BURNHAM!!! I REALLY WANNA HEAR YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT IT!!! songs: -sad -left brain, right brain -from god’s perspective -we think we know you (live) -art is dead -rant AND OR PLEASE DO A REACTION TO ALL OF HIS SONGS IN HIS SPECIAL INSIDE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
Hey can you do a Trying To Stan Waterparks? They released an album called Greatest Hits also on May 21st and got overshadowed by all others when their new album is such a banger lyrics and musically. It's a longer album and a complete different style compare to all of their older stuff and I would love to see your take on it because it's an extremely personal (as usual) emotional outlet for the lead singer Awsten
Give Will Wood a shot, he's amazing. Some of my personal favourites: -Hand Me My Shovel I'm Going In. -Love, Me Normally. -I/Me/Myself. -Marsha, Thankk You for the Dialectics, But I Need You to Leave. -...well, better than the alternative.
She did promo with sour patch kids and the current running theory is she's gonna drop a second album full of her unreleased love songs bc "sour sweet gone". Shes a big swifty so the theory holds water im excited to see what goes down
You DEFINETELY have to check out Jack Stauber! it has a really unique vibe and songs, and I feel you'd have very insightful opinions on it (as always lol). I always appreciate your comments and little rants, thank you for what you do!

jealousy jealousy is my fav song off the album. it hits on a new level. i grew up with the internet and currently am and i let everyones positives have a negative effect on me. i constantly compare myself and wish i could be people i dont even know. its so toxic.
I love how this album is like the five stages of grief like as soon as you feel like you can let them go or you know someday someone will treat you the way you deserve something the next day will take you all the way back to the anger and hurt
Hey, I would suggest that you listen to NF. Some of his songs: Mansion, Therapy session, Why, how could you leave us
Also Lost In The Moment, If You Want Love, Intro III and Trauma!
Yes!
good luck with moving bill!! hope everything goes smoothly :D
hi bill, thank u so much for your insight on favourite crime !!!! I grew up in abuse and had a horrifically abusive relationship 2 years ago when I was 16, and that song hit me really hard and I haven’t seen anyone else realize the implications of the song. It was really validating, thank you!!
I feel like this album is a bit like going through the stages of grief. sometimes you're sad, then angry, then sad again and it's all valid
i just want to tell, i was having a horrible day and your video bring me so much comfort, thank you
Just recently started following you, n I must say I love your reactions.... your vibes & the things you gotta say are awesome... n about ur situation @ home, it will get better bud ✊😎 hang in there.. you matter 😊👍
this is the reaction that I've been waiting foorrrrrrrr!!!
Love u and Olivia
im so happy you read favorite crime as darkly as i did fills me with some peace, most people read it as just a bad breakup/relationship but i always immediately thought that darkest reading when i listened. probably from experience but... i took crime and accomplice and alibi very literally....
I do hope you get to try to stan Sabrina Carpenter and Mary Lambert if you can or have. Their music is healing
I came to the comments to see if anyone had recommended Sabrina Carpenter yet!
this video and your take on the songs were brilliant i always appreciate your perspective!!
you should react to Waterparks, they dropped a new album called Greatest Hits on the same day as Olivia Rodrigo, and it has a really interesting sound. much love
your reaction to hope ur ok- me too, me too (i sobbed like a baby the first time i heard it)
i absolutely LOVE finding pop culture references in music. the 'deja vu' mv and 'good 4 u' mv are both inspired by a fair few films and tv shows. deja vu was inspired by Ingrid Goes West and Killing Eve, and good 4 u had the cheerleading outfit from Princess Diaries and you were right with the Jennifer's Body reference. except for Princess Diaries, they all contain lead female characters that are considered psychotic, kind of like the media portrays her out to be. and in Princess Diaries the main female character is into a guy with the same name as the ex she sings about.
oh i’ve been waiting for this one bill 👀 hope ur okay buddy
I totally recommend listening to the rare americans, particularly their two newest videos: "Baggage" and "Mama Bear"
"Brittle Bones Nicky" is really good too and has a sequel
Great video as always 💜💜💜
I second Brittle Bones Nicky and also recommend Ryan & Dave
I like how she didn't bring down the other girl but whenever she brings her up she compliments her
hey bill, i hope that you’re doing okay! thank you so much for all of the effort and energy and time that you put into these videos. they(and you) are so wonderful. i’m not sure if you care or still enjoy cavetown-but he just released a new ep that i think you’d really like! anywhoozers take care!
3rd time may i suggest: trying to stan SUGR?
songs i recc:
-oh, death
-what happened
-make it hurt
-strapped
-back with you
:)
Good 4 U immediately made me think of misery business by Paramore when I first heard it!
Yes the remix with both together is just perfection 👌
same!
Bc the song sample was misery business
I didn’t really like driver’s license initially because it wasn’t my type of music, but I loved most of the songs on this album (especially brutal and good for u). Her music is so versatile and for that I admire Olivia Rodrigo.
Also how sad is it that traitor and enough for you fit two of my past relationships
For me enough for you really gets me because I’ve been there where I’ve torn myself apart just to be enough for someone who never really cared and it really hurt me but when I realized how hard I was trying and how they just weren’t I left because even though it hurt like hell I knew it’s what I needed and honestly it still hurts sometimes but I’m doing better because I know I’ll find someone who dose care some day
i was waiting for this reaction!!!!
I love these videos because I love seeing someone love the music that I love and enjoy it
God, I love you !!!! I got those same interpretations from Favorite Crime and I related and I felt valid but also
invalid bc I thought I was being dramatic. But it feels so much better that I’m not the only one who kinda understood the trauma with that song!
Oh yeah let’s go, I was wondering when Bill would Stan this!! 🥳
YESSS I WAS LITERALLY JUST WONDERING IF YOU WERE GONNA MAKE A VIDEO ABT HER NEW ALBUM.......
you are way more insightful than I was antecipating, subscribed
THANK YOU SO MUCH BILL I LOVE THIS GUYYY
HOPE YOU'RE DOING GOOD BILL
YESS. I’d love to see him react to marianas trench!! Their music has helped me a lot
Yes! Marianas Trench please!!!
1 step forward 3 steps back, enough for you, favorite crime, and hope ur ok fcked me the fck up. relatability aside, she really knows how to compose her lyrics in the way that even though i never experienced that personally, i was easily sucked in and empathized with her. everything felt so vivid and real and concrete as if i was there myself. i love her self-awareness, while also recognizing that it's not her problem, it's him problem. plus point for brutal and good 4 u for summoning my teen angst rage to the front 😂
id love to see your reaction to mxmtoon! some songs id recommend are:
porcelain
unspoken words
dream of you
fever dream
almost home
asking for a friend
first
love your work :)
“Ew no gaslighting thank you.”
Periot sir.
while being only a few years older than her this album is so nostalgic for me even tho it's new. i remember being in high school and feeling so many of the things she expresses from favorite crime and being in relationships with people older than you who you shouldnt be with to brutal talking about how the world is shit and teenagers get hit with the brunt of it.
hey bill, great video!!!! I hope that ur okay too, loved hearing your thoughts
PLEASE DO A REACTION IN BO BURNHAM!!! I REALLY WANNA HEAR YOUR OPINIONS ABOUT IT!!!
songs:
-sad
-left brain, right brain
-from god’s perspective
-we think we know you (live)
-art is dead
-rant
AND OR PLEASE DO A REACTION TO ALL OF HIS SONGS IN HIS SPECIAL INSIDE!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
I clicked so fast and have completely abandoned my school work
MEEEE
do your school work please!
@@thethirdbill dw bill it’s all done :)
Yassssssss was waiting for thissss
This video distracted me from some scary thoughts, so thank you Bill 🥺❤️
sending healing thoughts. take care of yourself, please
Some of my personal favourites:
-Hand Me My Shovel I'm Going In.
Shes a big swifty so the theory holds water im excited to see what goes down
Trying to Stan Julie and the Phantoms
!!!
You DEFINETELY have to check out Jack Stauber! it has a really unique vibe and songs, and I feel you'd have very insightful opinions on it (as always lol). I always appreciate your comments and little rants, thank you for what you do!
you should do trying to stan bo burnham, he just brought out a new special called inside on netflix! i recommend listening to:
- sad
- art is dead
- problematic (hold me accountable)
- welcome to the internet
- left brain right brain
- repeat stuff
YESSS I’ve been waiting for this! Yes!
End of brutal gives me billie vibess
