  • One of my favourite pieces choreographed by my Guru Padmashri Dr. Narthaki Nataraj.
These lines from the traditional Bhairavi varnam composed by the Tanjore Quartets in praise of Sri Thiruvarur Thyagarajar, describe Shiva as the resident of the ancient city of Thiruvarur.
The city installed by the Chozha King Muchukundan, a great Shiva Devotee. Ruled by righteous king like Manuneedi Chozhan, who in order to give a cow justice for her calf's death by giving death sentence to his own son who was the reason for the calf's death.
With the Kamalalayam tank as large as the temple itself this city is the largest of the vidangar temples.
The birth place of Trio of Carnatic Music, "Sangeetha Mummoorthigal"
Worshipped and Praised by all the four prominent Saiva Saints " Nalvargal"
The cultural capital where music dance and instrumental Artist huddled together.

Very well done! So many details mentioned like the Muchukunda Chakravarty story, Manuneedi Chozhan story, Kamalalayam, Shiva in the form of Anthill... All the Best for learning more from Narthaki amma and propagating this great tradition!
