Bachmann really could do with looking into upping their game regarding their speaker spec. So many of the 'new kids' blow them out of the water with their DCC provision now, and on models like this, where competition is imminent it can make all the difference. Accurascale, Cavalex and SLW are setting a rather high benchmark which Bachmann don't seem to be even attempting to reach for. Its a shame that they're not even really leaving much room for upgrading whats there. The 20x20s make a big difference, but not much wiggle room for anything else.
I agree to a certain extent, but I'll never understand why people will praise Accurascale when they have models where the sound cuts out because the wrong speakers have been used, or the speaker hits the roof of the model. But then criticise Bachmann for playing it safe, but with no issues stopping you from using them.
@@roadsandrails I certainly agree there re Accurascales baffling decision to parallel up a 4ohm EM1 with the sugarcube. The Delitcs lack of speaker clearance was a lesson for them too. Lets not forget the Bachmann Deluxe 37s with the loose and rattling round speaker that is a pig to access to sort out, and even when thats done still sounds lacklustre! In both class 37 cases, both models need work to sort out questionable manufacturing decisions. Thankfully the series 2 class 37 doesn't suffer that problem, the rebadged EM1 measures the correct 8 ohms, and hopefully their 31 has learned the lessons.
@@Simon-Davis Just ordered a load of 8 ohm ESU speakers from Richard to replace those 4 ohm Accurathrash on 37s. What is even more baffling is that ESU was supposed to have been involved with the PCB design! The 4 ohm jobbies will have to go onto ebay. 8 ohm is now the standard with Accurascale for dual speaker set up (including their 31). I reckon better sound is more important than rotating fan, but then there are support lugs sitting in the way for a larger speaker upgrade.

I didn’t have any problems with this one, should be possible to get a stay alive in there though, even with the fan

Hi, its two 8 ohm speakers in parallel, the decoders support 4-8 ohms
Did you try the new smaller ESU passive speaker at all.
