Trouble is, it's not just about "looks and styling", is it? I am a bit bothered by BMW's lazy approach to this: they simply removed the ICE in the 4-Series and replaced it with batteries. The production line was designed for an ICE. Nicht gut.

Thank you for your honest review. I ordered my BMW eDrive 40 M sport same Portimao blue last September 2021 and take delivery of it next week and can’t wait to drive it.
Great to finally see a review on an i4 without the HUD, without the Laserlights and without the Harman Kardon. All other cars are specced to the max. Great color!
Nice review, had a conversation with a Tesla M3 LR owner - he says he’s saving £120 a month now on diesel costs - great but he’s either just spent £50k on his car or £700 a month on a lease - that buys a lot of diesel, even at these astronomical prices.
Good to see another review of the car on Irish roads, and another positive review aswell. My i4 is being delivered in the next week or two so nice to know it’s been worth the wait.
Great looking car - I test drove one and really liked it - the boot is quite raked though and not very dog friendly - hence waiting for an ix3 Thanks for the review
It’s just the order times, no factory build date after 5weeks. What an incredible car, I have decided I will wait whatever the time. Had same problem with our Skoda Enyaq but the i4 is in a different world. For me after three hours in two test drive, it is so planted whatever the U.K. roads throw at it. Prepared for but hopefully not too long a wait.🤞🏻
Thank you for yet another great review, Mark! Looking forward for you to checking out the newest honda hrv e-hev. We are all wondering how does it compare to the likes of the toyota chr or yaris cross (although not exactly the same segment with regard to yaris). Its all about hybrids and evs now.
My favourite channel for content, style and presenter. Being in England I would really appreciate it if you could also report on miles and £ not just kilometres and € but I do appreciate your key audience is Ireland. Great work Thanks. Glenn
Mark. Excellent review, as always. Okay, this is how an E car should be! Nigh on the perfect 'executive' E car. BMW have nailed it! Design, quality...actual shut lines that are closed! Really does show what a 'rubbish, ugly, pile of **** Tesla cars are. Imagine the electric E 3 Series? The i4 is stunning and game-changing. Thank You for the review.
Have to say it's an impressive yoke and if I had the money to choose I'd have that over the VRS Enyaq. In saying that I doubt if either would ever be in my price bracket.
Can ya put a towbar on it ?!?! Fabulous looking motor - it even makes the Tonka grille look Ok ! Love that detail on the rear hatch hinges. Seems like this i4 will soften the blow of giving up a straight 6. Great review - and your delivery style is just on the button! Thank you, good sir! 👍🏻
Nobby I've been really enjoying your videos. Thanks a million. Subscribed, liked etc. Torn between a volvo xc40,c40, ex30 or the i4 as my new car. Through work lease scheme. Have 3 kids but we have a big Alhambra for proper family stuff, but still need to do drop offs and pick ups. Thinking I will go for an i4 to treat myself, do you think edrive 35 much of a step down from 40? I probably don't need the extra mileage and otherwise seems very comparable but cheaper
They’re actually all a little tight in the back for 3 kids I think it would be a split between i4 and EX30, it’s actually not going to be much smaller inside than the other two Volvos. Hard to dismiss the BMW though if you really like your cars. Worth test driving the EX though, it’s actually really great to drive.
Great review thanks & confirms what I was hoping. My last new BMW was over 20 years ago (company car & ha I got pulled by the police 'for looking too young to be in it' seriously) - I have an i4 e35 M Sport due December (company car still & will save a fortune in tax) and despite the potential faff / change in habits due to charging I'm looking fwd to it. I cover Ireland too via ferry once or twice a year, so need to look into the charging infrastructure over there too. I honestly just don't like the 'plastic' look of Tesla, so that was an option I discounted. Cheers.
@@NobbyOnCars Thanks for the reply fella, ha I visit Cork to Donegal with Limerick and Belfast dotted in between - yup, I'm all over really - I will work it out somehow Cheers ;)
Ordered the same car 9 months ago which should be delivered next month. It should have come with HUD and Harmon Kardon radio but due to a dealer louse up neither are fitted. Can't wait any longer so will take the car. My question is how good is the standard radio?
Big fan of screens in cars but not at the expense of climate control buttons :( Have a 128ti with the iDrive 7 system. The rotary controller and shortcuts are so good I never touch the screen. All these video reviews of new cars with grubby greasy touchscreens make me sad.... Cracking car though.
Amazing car but again how does the ordinary working man afford this beauty. Are we going back to the car being only for those with wealth. its a beauty.
I had a long test drive with both of them and BMW is a miles better than Tesla what comes to finish, quality and driving dynamics. I just made an order for M50
That is true 100% but if u have a decent trade in it’s not nearly as bad.I have a 2017 520d and they’ll give me €28 grand for it so that’s nearly half . I was looking at a 530e and it’s no dearer than a well specked one of those . But it is a lot of money
@@tomquimby8669 Haha - yeah maybe you can fool a poor ignorant buyer that the badge covers all other features that you personally don’t want to pay extra for 😂

@@NobbyOnCars . LOL, yes, we’re all guilty of it!
What a dope.. the resale on them are unreal
A very good review. The only thing missing for me is a rear wash wipe but it has not stopped me ordering a m50 which is due in June.
335i is one of the best sounding cars with the OEM performance exhaust IMO. It's always a head turner

Portimao blue

Portimao Blue
It makes the E30 seem almost delicate ! BMW made the best dials and dashboards in the business , now cheap , nasty , garish and very distracting .

€65k to spend on this or a model 3 long range?
BMW
If range is needed then the Tesla I guess but for a lot of everything else, this!

Ioniq 5 is 20k less and a ground up EV with more space. This looks epic but insanely overpriced.
Compared to a petrol 3/4 series of lesser output though with no big cuts on interior quality etc it isn’t a lot dearer.

Have a look on carzone - multiple 420i and 420d GCs for +€70k. You could argue the i4 is a bargain
30k is a better price for this
A Renault Zoe costs 30 grand cop on
@@brendandevoy8178 ok I'll add 5k for better seats in the BMW so 35k seems reasonable

It's so damn ugly
The driveshaft/transmission tunnel through the rear seats floor lets the space back there down. This is where the ground up EV’s excel.
Or any front wheel drive car !
