Every once in a while I like to record a full concert. I recorded the Hip at the NAC in Ottawa a few years ago (although I did miss the first song) and it is over 2 hours .... better audio too, since it used a Canon G10 high end compact. We are blessed in Canada with some terrific bands ...
Only when the band are good guys like Wintersleep and The Hip ... the big guys (like Prince and Bob Seger) are so full of themselves that they give out copyright strikes when you post even a song or two. I'm glad we have these fantastic Canadian bands!
I saw Wintersleep at the Virgin Fest in Toronto a few years back. At first. I was bummed out, because they took a long damn time to set up. Something was wrong with their keyboard, I guess. After a nice apology for the delay. My ears began to take in the sweet and supple sounds of this wonderful band. I was blown away.
If you like this feel free to check out Ottawa band, High Waters. They opened for the guys in Wintersleep at a Postdata show last year in Ottawa...at Mavericks. Great band..and a free download at HighWatersMusic. com.
I attribute that to the fact that they did stuff from the later album (obviously they supporting the disc, so it makes sense). If it was a show after "Wintersleep" came out, I'm sure it would've been more intense.
