      Why? Kobe was never in that GOAT conversation. Laker fans and die hard Kobe fans might think otherwise, but that doesn't change reality. Jordan and Bron are on another level, based on pure all around generation basketball talent-wise. Then there's Kareem, and those guys.
      Btw, what about Shaq then? He's the reason Kobe has 5 rings, instead of just 2.. Shaq was the best player on that Lakers team during that 3 championship run, but nobody mentions him. Why? That's quite disrespectful

    • @jaybangz2926
      @jaybangz2926 6 років тому +39

      Again, you're wrong again. After Kobe won his 5th ring in 2010 & was still the best player in the league, the GOAT conversations immediately came up, you can even check old sport analysis on youtube, its there. Majority of NBA players and legends still have Kobe > Lebron & its for this exact reason, lack of assertiveness and aggressiveness and ultimately mentality. I'd rather consider former players that played with both players before I consider the nick wrights, colin cowherd, and shannon sharpes who love to use specific stats that cater to lebron and not the other way around. Context is everything.

    Kobe didn't play in the 2013 playoffs. What is Nick talking about?
    And I hope that Nick knows that Kobe(although not to the extent that Jordan did) played in the triangle offense and therefore sacrificed stats. Lebron plays in the Lebron system where every player is handpicked to complement his game. And former all stars are reduced to spot up shooters.

    • @Durdur752
      @Durdur752 6 років тому +28

      Joel Sebagala I was waiting for someone to check Nick on that! That’s what he does. He literally read off “context is everything” and yet spurts out things lacking context. 2011, kobe got swept by the team that smacked the heat. 2012, got beat by the raw talent of the thunder. 2013, ruptured achilles. This is why I hate this guy.

    Nick Wright is completely wrong here. He mentioned Kobe faced the Spurs 3 times after Shaq left, but he actually just faced them once and he beat them in 5 (the Spurs swept Lebron the year before). Kobe didn’t even play in the 2013 playoffs, he was injured, which is WHY they got swept.
    He also just glossed over the fact that Kobe in 2001 averaged 33-7-7 on 51% against the Spurs and SWEPT them with Prime Duncan on the team. Shaq and Duncan were still in their prime in that series, and Kobe was by far the best player. Spurs also had the best record in the league that year, so that was the REAL NBA Finals.

    • @Jaywyrick
      @Jaywyrick 6 років тому +1

      Well you are partially correct, but also somewhat erroneous as well in your facts dunny. Remember, in the 2003 West Semis the Spurs beat the Lakers 4-2, dethroning the three-time defending NBA champions, and ending their bid at a fourth consecutive title with Shaq and Kobe. The Spurs demolished the Lakers so thoroughly in gm 6, it reduced Kobe to tears on the sidelines. So, there is some reputability and context to what Nick is saying. His dates were awry and misguided in regards to the main time the Spurs beat the Lakers en route to a championship that season when both franchises were at their zenith. But, mos def neph, Kobe did not play in 2013. The Lakers wouldn't have have nothing for the Spurs that year anyway though. They would've got nolia clapped decisively regardless.

      No, Lebron didn’t run off Kyrie. Everyone just said he did when neither Jyroe, Lebron or anyone credible said that. Kyrie ran off because no one except Lebron would give him credit. Kobe is between 10 and 5 ever but Lebron is top 3. People do lie and and not mention MJ and Kobe’s shortcomings and bad moments because of their mentalities, MJs killer and Kobe’s Mamba they don’t want to remember the times they didn’t live up to that. But because a Lebron has never had the same mentality or the same personality they remember his bad moments more than his great ones. I love Kobe but he was way off here, there are leadership qualities and points he has to say he’s better than Lebron at leadership or just playing basketball but the ones he made ain’t that

    Kobe's right. Just because he passes the ball, doesn't mean he empowers his teammates. I've been saying for a while, teams are built for LeBron. Everyone sacrifices on a LeBron team except LeBron. Kyrie left because he felt his game was not being maxed out, and the team wasn't built for him.

      Frankie Russell I have a hard time blaming LeBron for Kyrie leaving. Kyrie wanted to be the number one guy and be the leader of the team (not just in scoring). That’s totally respectable. He knew he wasn’t gonna be that when you play with the best player in the world. So he left. That not really anyone’s fault.

      I mean I agree Kobe is that guy but just cos he’s that guy doesn’t mean he’s always correct. Not any player in history or even any Duo in history is beating that GSW team. Kobe and MJ would get swept, MJ got swept by Birds Celtics dynasty twice and Kobe by Duncan’s Spurs dynasty and as dominant as those 2 teams were, GSW was more stacked. And Lebron got swept by the same spurs as Kobe but in their prime when Lebron was 22 with a much worse team. MJ the goat, Lebron top 3, Kobe top 10. They all the guy who says what u need to hear not want to hear but everyone always uses Lebrons finals losses against him like he didn’t lose twice to the most stacked team ever, twice to the spurs dynasty and once to GSW when his two best team mates were injured. Out of his 6 finals losses 4 of them no other player in history is winning them, 1 of them was honestly just close Lebron could’ve won but Wade was finished cos of his knee and Spurs were playing some of the best team basketball ever so I don’t think MJ or Kobe is winning that series but I won’t rule out MJ but no one else is. So really Lebrons only ever lost 1 Finals he was expected to win the other 4 he was expected to lose and 1 it was a toss up. But on his wins he won 2 he was expected to win, he won 1 toss up, and he won 1 he was expected to lose.

    The hate for Kobe by the mainstream media and especially Nick Wright is so intense, when he brings up Kobe's record against the Spurs without Shaq (1-2), he fails to mention LeBron's record against the Spurs (1-2). He then also credits LeBron with breaking up the Big 3 Celtics when he beat them with Miami, but fails to mention that they drove him out of town in Cleveland. He's also one of the first to complain about LeBron's lack of help, which I'm all for, but when he has help in Miami he puts their championships on his shoulders, and then tear down Kobe by saying HE got beat by the Spurs and OKC and the Mavs, when the Lakers got beat there. Nick Wright needs to stop being bias and hating on every superstar not named LeBron James, it's getting insane now, get the man off TV and put some respect on Kobe's name fool, he's the second greatest basketball player we've ever seen.

    Kobe Bryant is the beneficiary of Phil Jackson and his 13 rings over the years as a player and coach. Kobe Bryant also had Shaq, Derek Fisher, John Salley, Rick Fox, Robert Horry, Pau Gasol, and so many excellent sidekicks that were clutch. Kobe never transcended Shaq, Allen Iverson, Jason Kidd, Tim Duncan, and his peers like LeBron James has over KD, Curry, Klay, Harden, Chris Paul, Ray Allen, Lillian, Tony Parker, and others. Like being separated by the Atlantic ocean. He is so far ahead in his generation in skills and leadership. Just look at LeBron James' clean image as a father, role model, philanthropist, business man who invests first in his own people, and what he said back to Barkley. He is a social activist leader from police brutality to black and civil rights. LeBron is liked even by his rivals in leadership across many areas and spectrums. No debate for Kobe here. And he will likely take the Lakers to a couple of more consecutive Finals with possibly 5 to 7 championships (career) and 11 to 14 consecutive Finals trips plus one trip alone his third season. This has never been done by MJ, Kobe, Magic, Kareem nor any greats maybe even the Celtics of the 50s&60s. Go figure. And his stats are like Wilt Chamberlain and Magic Johnson. LeBron James can play all 5 positions with ease whereas Kobe like MJ was just a shooting guard.

      Xavier Vega now you're just responding for a reaction. Kobe was not a #2. It was a 1a and 1b. If you watched the playoffs with Shaq and Kobe, you will see that only in the finals was Shaq the man and that was because the East had no centers to challenge Shaq. Kobe carried the team a lot of times when Shaq got fouled out of games and even averaged the same amount of points as Shaq the 1st 3rounds. Go do your homework

    I have watched every cavs game this season except 5. Every post game interview that I could find from LeBron down to osman. And if you think LeBron didn't empower these guys you are crazy. Lue may have not used the enough but LeBron was at the gym with these guys. Taking them out. Heck even was trying to bond with Isaiah Thomas when he was missing shots. The dude spends his time and money doing things to build mental chemistry to make it easier at practice and in games to trust one another. He was early at practice every day and late to leave. He also was the one showing and teaching the new guys plays and sets other teams like to run.... not the coaches it was LeBron. Sorry Kobe wrong on this one

      Championships are a TEAM accomplishment and the measurement of success isn’t chips alone.
      As far as individual success, Lebron is miles ahead of Kobe and he’s not even done yet. Just look at the record books, Lebron is ahead of Kobe in most Major categories. But of course you want to bring up TEAM accomplishments involving a guy Who has a GREAT supporting cast and was even carried for 2 of his chips to a guy who has historically made the finals with a couple bad teams and was the reason he’s won all of his championships.
      Good job, you made yourself look stupid to real basketball fans lol.

      YouReallyDontKnow 1st of all kobe was never carried to anything he carried his own weight the entire time if shaq carried kobe he coulda carried penny theres a reason he won 1st with kobe stop it 2nd of all how are you gunna credit bron for winning with bad teams like it wasnt his fault he hand selected everyone on his dam team. idkare if lebrons leading in every stat kobes the better shooter has better footwork better free throws better basketball iq better defense better dunkin better handles better left hand. lebrons told ppl hes better numerous times, lebrons learned a ton from kobe bryant he said it out his own mouth. when they played head up with fairly even teams lebron was gettin dogged by kobe every chance he got the fact that lebron is alot bigger than kobe and the numbers are still close? is enough. lebrons the biggest mismatch in sports history yet kobes more unguardable. kobes just as good of a passer, brons a better rebounder but head up lebron wants no parts of that man and he knows it lebrons not better hes a stat stuffer. and you dnt use stats to determine whos better you dont do that in streetball do u? when you go to a game you dont ask for the stat sheet to see whos the best you watch and lets your eyes tell you. kobe can do things lebron can. theres nothin lebron can do that kobe cant. not 1 thing.. yall probably dont even remeber kobe you just look at stats and the end of his career and act like that was his prime. cut it out

      Nope he is not, but it's ok for you to think what you want. Kobe was an inefficient lesser clone of Michael Jordan. Didnt get along with teammates, He dropped the ball in the 04 Finals, quit in game 7 against Phoenix in 06 and demanded a trade out of LA. Y'all better stop with this Kobe narrative. Once he matured in 08 and Phil returned he did his thing but those first 3 Chips were due to Shaqs dominance.

      I say Kobe is right under Jordan.
      Kobe wasn't even the greatest player of his generation in the NBA, let alone one of the all-time greatest. Kobe is a guy who rode Shaq's coattails, failed to make the playoffs as the top dog, rode Gasol and Bynum for a few seasons, and finished his career playing for the worst team in the Western Conference. Never seen any other "all-time great" have such a unimpressive resume for consideration.
      Actually, Kobe wasn't even the best Laker when he played; that honor belongs to Shaq. Kobe was his brand. The NBA built that brand up for business. Kobe as an Top 5 player is a meme to sell jerseys and sneakers.
      Come at me Kobe knob slobberers.
