- Specialized Stumpjumper Evo. Full rebuild with TP! Here we take a close look at what Tom does behind the scenes to make my bike one of the fastest in the world. This was from the Leogang race. He does a full strip down and rebuild before every race and it pays off because the rig is always top notch for race day.
If you have any questions please ask me and Tom in the comments below.
Shoutout again to Tom Prier for his work and the Specialized Enduro team along with SRAM for making this bike so epic!
Filmed and edited by the man himself, John Turpin
Funny to see Charlie running a Lyrik on some of the roughest courses in the world, yet I see Zebs and 38s all over my local blue trails 😂
I loved my Lyrik! Have a ZEB now and miss the Lyrik regularly
Almost like riding bikes is 90% rider and an athlete like Charlie could ride a rigid, hardtail faster than most people could on 38mm Enduro rigs!
@@matthewcozart7684i heard peeps prefer lyriks, is the zeb just more damp and heavy so not so fun?
@@DandyHippo It isn’t as responsive. Even after multiple set-ups. The Lyrik rode trail super well.
Because those forks help you plow
Thanks for the full run-through TP. Did you have to "face off" any mounting points for brake calipers or axels? Good to see the attention to detail with matching red valves and calipers, Loving your work.
Haven’t needed to yet, Specialized has it dialled from the get go!
Are you running the MX Link with 29" Rear Wheel? Would you like to tell us something about the benefits?
Awesome vid TP! Do you have any sneaky mechanic tips to keep the headset cups happy and creak free? I feel like I'm constantly pulling mine apart and regreasing on my Evo
A nice coating of thick waterproof grease is the best. Headsets can be a tricky one especially with the angle cups as an extra surface, but we don’t have any issues. Make sure the bolt has grease too, that can always be a culprit
Are you go to change the air can to the linear XL?
And how much time does such a rebuild take ?
About 6-8 hours to get it race ready! Depends on the day and how muddy the last race was
Nice vid but I think now it's time to tune your accent. Something is bent or needs replacing to get you back in true
should do a thing about his tool box and the custom grease applicator. Im interested
Yes
Found it, its from Mapdec

Super nice bike. Thanks a lot for the details. Just want to ask what are those barend pinky protectors?
LoamLab Counterpunch
If the best enduro riders in the world can use one-piece rotors then that’s good enough for me.
Great work from TP as always. I wonder if he has some big work ahead of him, considering what spesh is presenting tomorrow... Or maybe you guys will keep running the current bike :D
what is specialized releasing tomorrow???
I need a personal TP... Unrelated to the video but related to riding, what chest protector (if any) do you use? Cheers
It’s a 100% one! Tarka short sleeve
Love the piston resetting tool errrr tire lever😂 personally, I like the Pedro’s lever for that job.
Sweet rig chazmaz gonna ave lemon pepper tearing leogang a new one this weekend woidemup
Cheers brother hungry for some racing
anyone know what fender that is in the front, i have a muckynutz one want something a bit bigger
It’s a Slicy Products one!
Would like to see one where they do the bearings in the pits.
How much does the bike weigh?
16kg!
When you say cycle the pistons through, do you just push them forward clean with a can of brake cleaner? and push back?
It's called massaging, you run the pistons out and push them back, helps do a few things from dislodging air bubbles behind pistons to helping the seals get moving freely
Yeah, also found it better to clean them up before pushing them back in helps
Hey what kind of fender is that? Cheers
It’s a slicy products one!
@@Chazmaztv looks perfect for the new whistler bike rack 😂
I'm wondering why you chose the stumpy and not the specy enduro
Because he is paid by Specialized to say what they want him to say.

Hey, I was just curious and wanted to get your thoughts on why you run the Stumpy evo over the enduro from specialize? Thanks
He mentions in other videos.

@@beno9966 do you know which video it is by chance?
@@schmidtty5.0go back to his test sessions in NZ. Stumpy faster on most trails
I believe it is because the Enduro’s frame is not UDH compatible so he can’t run the SRAM Transmission. 👍
