I am hoping that gold is bind on account (BoA). If it is not BoA then there will be more bots in PoE 2 that will be botting for gold to sell for real money. Whether a game is good or not is in the eye of the beholder. There are games that I have played that are not very popular. But I have had many hours of fun playing them. RC Stunt Copter on the original PlayStation is a game that I believe is not a well known game, nor was it super popular. The Spyro series was way more popular than that game. Meaning unlike some players I don't always play the most popular or the most loved games. We have to admit that at the end of the day that fun is in the eyes of the beholder. What is fun for me might not be fun for you.
If I were making youtube videos for games where I talk about the game. Then I would just give the news and my honest opinion about the game. It would be up to the ones watching to figure out whether or not to try it out.

This is true in two ways: you earned your audiences trust and GGG earned their players trust.

I'm really glad it's going to be its own game.
I know it was announced as basically an expansion to POE a long, long time ago. But with that passage of time, I've gotten increasingly concerned about it being hamstrung from launch because it was tied to a game made quite a long while back. POE is still fun but I was immensely relieved to hear the news that POE2 will be able to walk on its own.
Now here's just hoping that loot works a little better and I'll actually find a single usable item at endgame on my own after hundreds of hours.
All the trashy nerfs they made to poe1 were claimed to be done in preparation for poe2. To bring everything more in line with poe2 to allow for a smooth transition. If poe2 is going to be entirely separate, then they should walk back all the nerfs. Knowing GGG, they won't.

Absolutely insane, They're just hitting everything out of the park. The gaming sphere as a whole would be such a better place if every big company cared this much about what their players want.
All the PoE fans on reddit are saying it looks terrible because you have to dodge enemy attacks instead of just flying around at 500 miles an hour one-shotting everything.

It's why I don't play blizzard games anymore, they don't care about satisfying a player base, they just care about getting anyone's money that they can, with zero fulfillment.
in an era where communities are hungry for this kinda interaction between studios and players, they def nailed it with ExileCon
53:00 with regards to 'standing still', the demo showed that by the time the ice comet spell has finished the moving animation the arctic armour has fully stacked up. Plus things like channeling skills and things like shield charge (if it works the same) will all count as 'standing still'.
not entirely defending it, but i do think its worth noting. Plus you still might get freeze immunity which is nice while levelling.
It can definitely work. Getting a good defensive boost for the first hit you take could be really powerful
PoE is one of the few games where they have every exploitable system, but are still somehow one of the most consumer first games ever. From a free game with microtransactions, to systems upon systems layered almost so thick you'd think they were designed to confuse players, to an endless number of expansion.
Its so rare to see game developers who arent against fun

i started replaying golden sun again because of the tweet hint josh made, and honest to god its one of my favorite tbrpgs, the combat is simple, unique, deep and fun, story isnt the best writing but on the contrary i love the pacing of it and i love how alot of dialogue is cut by just making the characters more emotive and reactive. i love the way the game looks the way they used the 3d plain with 2d sprites looks so good and its amazing its all on a gameboy advanced game

if flicker strike still works like poe1 (in that despite teleporting, you count as stationary), arctic armor will be fun with that
Flicker Strike is instantaneous movement, so you are never moving, but have never been stationary for very long either.
My guide to enjoying path of exile. Play without guides. Discover how everything works organically. Make diverse builds over a year, instead of reading college research papers on stats.
Those can wait until you get your own base understanding. Play and have fun, and learn the basics, THEN if you feel like it go for your phd in build theory.
Also it makes it a lot easier to understand later because you can post your build to the forums and ask for feedback, this will usually result in a directed and informative tutorial about aspects and flaws you didn't understand. Much faster than reading generalized information.
That's like telling someone who is about to go camping in the wilderness for the first time to just wing it. Now I could agree on not following a direct build guide, but I would at minimum suggest playing using something like Zizaran's playthrough guide for the Acts just to get the most basic info and help that the game really ought to provide upfront, but doesn't.

Everyone who missed it live: GOLD CURRENCY what we know now is an EXTRA currency. Not replacing the economy they have now. They will remove some currencys, so gold might be just a replacement for those exact things but its NOT a new economy system with only gold.

Where was the cringe ? They were nervous but they were great. Not to mention all the interesting stuff.
tbh I tried the roasted bananas, Werther's, and lime, they are all pretty good, I would use actual vodka or rhum and not "alcohol for fruit preservation" which tastes very aggressive. also lime was fairly bitter, I'd zest them then remove the rind.
roasted banana with caramel and cinnamon is fantastic. (peel bananas, add sugar, put in oven at 180C (in an oven safe jar) and cook till the sugar caramelizes, then pull out, let cool, add cinnamon and alcohol.)

One game I´d install on every PC as standard is Rimworld. It´s very lightweight, its Linux compatible afaik and even without mods it´s just complex enough to keep you on your toes but also has enough customization options for your gf/wife turning it pretty much into stardew valley.
Which is exactly what mine did and I wondered why I suddenly had like 20 Farming and decoration mods on my modlist.

I saw the title of the video, and came here to half-jokingly criticize you by saying something to the effect of, "I thought you didn't unironically do reaction videos/streams?" Video opened with Josh talking for a full minute-and-a-half about how he normally doesn't do this kind of thing and why, and I got a laugh at that read of what people like me were likely going to say. I love your videos and content. Happy to say that you've inspired me to play quite a few MMORPGs I wouldn't have otherwise tried.

I like games like this without static builds. I loved in PoE just amassing huge hoards of skill and support gems. I loved the countless possibilities you could do with them. In Mabinogi, this old (now pretty dead) mmo I used to play, while yes it had standard 'classes', you could actually mix and match what skills to use and weapon combos to form an entirely new playstyle. I was the combat alchemist. I had a sword in one hand, and a Guard cylinder in the other. The guard cylinder acted as both shield and gun. Since Alchemy was very ranged focused, Cylinders were quite literally hand cannons for different elements. With the Singing skill trained, you could get it where you could apply Bard buffs without use of a bard instrument. And magic was very useful on any 'class' due to Healing and mana shields. Its a shame how the game wen, though. Nexon destroyed one of the only decent games they had left.
When I played Mabinogi it didn’t have classes, just individual stats and skills you could learn.
@@hannessteffenhagen61It does technically have classes. every skill is categorized to a set class. It doesnt have a traditional 'class' structure where you're locked into a specific skilltree at any one time, but it does have them.
It really didn't have classes in the day. You had combat, magic, life tabs, and that was it.
Like 3 directors later and now you have classes.
And now, last time I dared play, they have a fast track to total level 5000, by doing things like "buy a book".
In the old days the classes in Tir chonail (sp) actually had a use.
What a disappointment the game ended up as.
@@jesfest Nexon fucked it. After Anime crossover events were taken out, it was on the fast track to death. Maybe it was before then, but this made it alot faster. events became uninspired, repeated, people got angry. Then patches came out that often fixed one thing only to absolutely break something else. They just cant catch a break, even after they completely abandoned their other games simply to try to keep Mabi alive.

Afaik ure not getting an entire different tree for the weapon swap, only around 20,30points.that wont be enough to make a difference
@@YukeInRealLife They're making most passives on the tree more general. i.e. most melee passives are just "Melee damage", not "Axe damage". There's only one weapon-specific passive cluster for each weapon. That makes it much easier to find some passives that can work for both melee and ranged, and limits the number of highly specialized weapon-swap passives you'll need to consider investing.
Wait, the existence of coins might mean we'll finally have a single standardized fiat currency which would allow them to have a bazaar with in-built taxes to combat inflation

Yes, but the campaign is very interesting in PoE2 and actually way more random, the overall structure of each act layout changes for each playthrough, it was talked about in the 2019 ExileCon and a tiny bit inn Q&A on day 2 of this ExileCon
@@VanByyrg They literally showcased the randomness when he died to the first boss. Entered the boss' lair from a different entrance and the entire dungeon had a different layout.
@@Dyanosis Oh that kind of randomness existed and exists in PoE1 since it's conception back in 2010~ era. I am talking about the STRUCTURE of the ENTIRE ACT changing on character-by-character basis, e.g. which zones connect to which other zones, the rough 'direction' of the act itself, etc.

Pre-ordering BG3 doesn't give anything special anymore. It was originally going to give us a few days early to play before release. But Larian pushed the release date up to this upcoming Sunday when it was originally towards the end of this month. Honestly, I pre-purchased it because it wasn't called a pre-order. You were basically buying the ability to play the first chapter of the game only, but access to playable content as it was added, like as they worked out the classes you could play.
They also gave all pre-purchases a free upgrade to the digital deluxe. But honestly with Larian's track record on producing great TTRPG style games, I bought it out of sheer faith in a good product that I would inarguably enjoy.

I disagree on playing without a wiki being the most fun. I can't theorycraft for the life of me, I can't build decks, I can't build characters... because I find the process frustrating and annoying and not rewarding (thus I never practised and learned it). Much like I find sowing frustrating and annoying and not rewarding. So I tried to build a character, hate every second and then ended up not being able to see much of the game.
For me the way to have fun with PoE (not the most fun, fun at all) was to find "The easiest 1 mio dps you will ever build SSF suitable physical zombie Necromancer" (or something equivalent) and just copy that step for step rigidly. And then I got to play the super fun game that I super enjoy playing. My man Sin is still one of my favourite husbandos of all games to this day. I was there when Vorici was the smoky-voiced hot man dissing you for not being stealthy and I loved it.
PoE purposely filtering out people who don't do massive skill trees honestly means a lot of people are missing out on a really really fun game. And I'm glad I didn't. I'm glad I threw my brain out of the window and mindlessly copied some other player's build because it meant and means (you know I will play the hecking fudge out of PoE 2 like I did PoE 1... do youtube comments even get censored for swearing?) I get to have so much fun with a charming game with lovely mechanics and a startlingly enjoyable visual style. I find the colour schemes and music of Skyrim and Vanilla Minecraft too depressing, but I never had a single second where I wanted to change anything about the lighting or music of PoE, it was always... not cheerful, but undepressingly atmospheric. Much like Genshin Impact. Yes, I play GI. Yes I also brainlessly copy builds there and I am having a blast.
Incidentally a process I do find enjoyable and rewarding is writing. I'm a writer. I write all day. Enjoy this moderately-formatted youtube comment about how even people with skill issues can find a lot of enjoyment in the game with the velvet-voiced shirtless demon cinnamon roll. I am 50% joking with that btw. I played the fudge out of the game back when you just did Acts 1 - 4 three times. I played before the Atlas.
Do you have any idea how exstatic I was when they added Acts 5 - 10? They always said they would AND THEN THEY FUDGING WENT AND DID IT! They actually kept their promise. And yes players complain about nerfs but GGG at the very very least show they care about a somewhat balanced meta. Those are experiences I got to have because I didn't let the skill tree filter me out. I attached myself to the TCers legs like a leech and profited from their achievements in figuring out the game, because to me they would have been the opposite of fun.
Not every player enjoys every part of a game. I love playing Magic the Gathering, I hate building decks. You wanna know what I enjoy more than building my own PoE character? Writing a horror story where the Shadow thinks Sin is gonna eat his soul after he's used him to defeat Kitava so the second the big hungry god falls he legs it with the Portal skill gem and lives as a reclusive hermit for months in paranoia thinking Sin (the little hungry god) is coming to eat him until eventually deciding such a life is not a life and going to murder Sin.
HARRR GGG THOUGHT THEY COULD KEEP ME AWAY WITH A 1500 NODE SKILL TREE BUT IF THEY WANTED THAT THEY SHOULDN'T HAVE MADE THE STORY AND GAMEPLAY SO ENGAGING! MUAHAHAHA!

Way more than I enjoy the video of the guy that tried to put a jar inside himself.
The sad thing as much as I agree poe kills diablo its all based on money. Gameplay wise yea it kills D4 but if it doesnt gather the money of 10million copies + the people that come back every season then leave or when 10million copies of each xpac are sold then in fact it has not killed D4. People truly forget the hold blizzard has on its cultist.

the one thing i dont like as a narrative, if they are going with gods drive all realities, then what keeps existence going when they kill all the gods that govern all the rules. example if the god of water stops existing then what happens to all the water? do the physics just stop working on water or does it all just disappear?
They've never suggested anything like that in the lore. If anything, they're suggesting that the world is a dream, and peoples' minds impose structure and consistency on what is otherwise a chaotic and arbitrary reality. The world is as it is because people expect it to be, and gods become gods because people believe in them. The expectations of a significant enough number of people cause that belief to manifest in reality. Malachai explains that the skill gems grant power by releasing the restrictions on your mind, allowing you to consciously shape the world like a lucid dream. Presumably, with Sin's Beast dead, the power of mankind to create new gods has been restored, and new gods can now arise if they gain enough belief from the people.
They lore doesn't fully elaborate on why minds would have such significance, and what their true nature is, but Malachai suggests that the Vaal thaumaturge Doryani understood it.

With the separation of the 2 standalone Path of Exile versions, I wonder what would happen if people played less and less of POE1 to the point it made no sense for GGG to continue updating it: would they just kill it, or ultimately try to merge the 2, as originally thought?
That is the point of this, or maybe leave it in maintenance mode where you can always olay poe1 but no major uodates will come. However this will happen over time slowly probably in couple of years.
When PoE 1 eventually becomes redundant, they can just release standalone offline version of the game and give it modding tools to keep it alive forever.
I mean even poe1 currently is getting big updates with a crew of less than 10 people. It doesn't take them much to keep it updated currently.
