People might say all the negative things about Franco Bonisolli that they want. But here is a tenor that REALLY had the high notes. And really had them to spare. Sadly, the quality and thrill of these high notes are almost inexistent in the opera theaters these days. Grande Bonisolli!!
Sqillo...I think even a perfect technique can't give you the quality and thrill that God bestows on the chosen few. This man was BORNE to SING! His build and his big head and neck are a miracle like James Vickers!
I seem to think a long time ago when Italia 90 world cup came along Franco was to be one of the three Tenors. Pavarotti, along with Domingo. Jose Carreras got the third spot because Franco was deemed to be a loose cannon and so they left him out. Franco was a great singer that Lanza would have been proud of.
I have believed Bonisolli is the best tenor in the last century. No one can compete with his voice. Although this video seems to have been recorded after his prime, how great his voice was! I am always reminded of Italian spaghettis listening his Italian songs.

You know the funny thing is that after hearing this spectacular performance of this song you have to understand that he was actually holding back. On the CD he takes it up at the end to - I think - a high D Natural. I heard him in a couple operas. He replaced Pavarotti in a new Gioconda production for SF Opera which had been bought for him by Gordon Getty. I heard both tenors in this a couple couple years apart from the same seats. Bonisolli was better. His voice was bigger and richer is not quite a smooth. Bonisolli was better on stage too. You just had to love the guy.
Franco Bonisolli is unique here!!! He can not leave people who listen to him indifferent, you can like him, or dislike him, but both in very, very strong way!!! Me personally, I dislike his lacrymose singing here, but his sweetness is phenomenal. I dislike his too loud singing, but his ringing and full of metal voice is stuning!!!

he is good but he is no match for Caruso, gigli or bjoerling. sorry but i'm just telling the truth. the beauty of voice is no match for the three I have stated.

Riccardo, we talk about artists who have a special gift we do not have. We should not analyse every poop.
For me, the package Franco Bonisolli, is the best.

you are dead wrong Arthur. I can't imagine being as far off base as you are. your in real trouble. LOL LOL LOL LOL.
he is good but he is no match for Caruso, gigli or bjoerling. sorry but i'm just telling the truth. the beauty of voice is no match for the three I have stated.
truly absurd...
absurd 100(30)%
such an amateur opinion...absurd & grotesque…worthless bla bla..belongs to someone who knows zero about the opera & tenors
The problem with social media there are pseudo experts have no ears ! Dont judge the look of the man open your ears for a real powerful voice can sing everyting the perfect lirico spinto ! But for appreciate opera you need first study singing to understand what your talking about ! I study and listen opera since I was 5 years!
@@marcandregingras992 You are right he is true lyric spinto. People do not understand or appreciate how extraordinary rare these voices are. The last one before Bonilsolli was Mario Filippschi.

Out of sync. Bonisolli was over-rated but competent. He was fat headed divo, and a whiner. He had his chance but he blew it. @Andreas_Baum
Best!!!!!!

you will never hear pavarotti hitting high sib to times and a ln amazing high c at the end of o sole mio !! you will neverr never hear it from any other tenor
