Ya think? It is very compressed and can sound nice on it's own but I play live and to cut in a mix it needs a more raw open voicing like what you hear in this video
Sounds great to me, it’s more articulate, open, and punchy! Does it have a different feel than the JEL? I hate the idea of shipping mine cross country and back but it seems worth the worry for the potential end results.
Thanks, glad it came through in the video! Which JEL do you have 20/100w? I liked the voicing of the 20w better but even it had a low end that jumbled the mids a bit if that makes sense. Sitting in the room with Dave he def likes the compressed darker tones. I would do it and the more I play through the modded right or left positions I doubt I will ever use the center voicing again. Tell him you want the Raw mid voicing with the 3 way switch mod Ala Don!
@@cragginshred Thanks for the information, it is greatly appreciated! I'm thinking if I hear you play Switch 626 & Lady Strange I'll know for sure. There's something about where the riffs of those songs sit for me. I just have the BE-100 deluxe, talked to Dave about doing the JEL 100 mod & maybe a version of the Butterslax. (He said that the 100 deluxe can get really close to the Butterslax.) I missed the boat on the JEL100 and they are really hard to find for a reasonable price so the mod may have been the best way for me to go if I can decide. I caved and bought the new Uber Ultra to hopefully tide me over for a while.
@@davej8045 The JEL 100 has the same plexi ch as your BE and ch2 is 3x darker than your BE ch 2. Funny I feel the same about the Hi n dry guitar tones on that record. Just re learned the main riff the other day!
@@cragginshred Awesome insight, thank you! I’ll have to email Dave about the mod he did for you and see if it can be done without losing anything that the 100 deluxe has. “Let it go” is another favorite but I have yet to learn both guitar parts.
Wow….that brought back memories seeing those L.A. pic’s….was out there for 15yrs playing. That’s the best I’ve ever heard a BE-100 sound. But, that’s just it, it’s not a BE-100 at this point. Not sure what he charged you, but for what those cost, I’d like to think he gave you some sort of a break. Whatever it was, it was money well spent. That sounds really good. It reminded me a little of the plexi channel on the new SS-100 V2, which is much more raw, and percussive. Sounds great….and you got a fun memory out of it, as well, rather than taking the risk, and expense of shipping this across the country. Cool vid!
Sounds Amazing. Love the pics and wow meeting Dave at his shop, what a treat bravo 👏
Sounds great. The amp should have these sounds available out of the box, without having to have it modded.

@@cragginshred Ha I'm going to end up doing something similar to my Smallbox
I'm gonna start with changing bright caps first before anything else.
Loved the Rock Bottom rendition.

Sounds killer. Are you hitting it with the Dual Channel Kokoboost or the Reloaded version?
Just the mid boost side on the V1

In your estimation, could the Smallbox ch 2 be similarly modded?
@@johnzuker yes, e mail Dave he can do anything
@@cragginshred Indeed, he's a tone wizard.
What are your thoughts compared to the Alta?
A little more top end kerning is present in the Alta -but thats good.2 flavors of killer!!
Just curious - What was wrong with the stock BE??
Late to the the party?? No seriously, it's a well known fact that factory voicing is very compressed and too nice to cut in a mix
Its needs more knobs lol😂
There always Line 6 for you, lol :)
