      Hmmmm, the good news is he is probably not a "Once in a lifetime." A lot of Green/independent's have been saying the same things for decades. Where he's important is bringing up the futurist issues he has, in major, televised, political debates. He'll be around for some-time, and there will be more like him. Indeed, we'll likely see Silicone Valley types becoming more mainstream/visible in political discourses until they eventually own it. Which might be a catch 22. However, for the time being, Yang has been much needed.

      Damario Haynes AOC is a truly awful person. Please don’t compare her to Yang.
      She messed up the Amazon deal, wants to get rid of ICE, she called farmers racist, and on top it all said that the impeachment process was “boring” and that she is “over it” after demanding the process to start.
      On top of that, her Green New Deal did not have anything mentioned about Nuclear Energy or Industrial Hemp. But what it did include was the option to work or not work. It is the biggest sham and most blatant pandering to climate change activists. It says “Green New Deal” but had very little to do with helping the planet.
      I am very sorry that you are a fan of AOC. She is incompetent and a detriment to the Democratic Party. I am praying that she will lose re-election. Which is very possible because the majority of her funding comes from outside her district. Her own district doesn’t like her. But people in California do.

      He made a huge impact with very little coverage. He moved UBI into mainstream conversation, he brought a new way of thinking about solutions to our problems. We need Federal jobs guarantee and UBI. UBI promotes innovation, small business, helps people stay home with young kids or care for elderly family members. UBI is a safety net we need. We need both Yang and Sanders. We need everything both of them are talking about. Having health care coverage separate from your employer enables the gig economy. UBI also enables the gig economy in that people are protected if work is seasonal or sporadic.

      #HumanityFirst

    • @ConQuiX1
      @ConQuiX1 4 роки тому +7

      @@africasseed The Green's having UBI as their proposal doesn't mean they posses the thought process that led Andrew to support it. It's the difference between the what and the how. The Green party in my experience has a particular brand that constrains them ideologically in unhelpful ways. I work in energy management, so I get my fair share of environmentalism. Most people I work with want us to get off the fossil as quickly as possible in an intelligent manner that won't cripple our neighbors or ourselves economically (as do I), but they are deeply opposed to nuclear energy production without even understanding it's the safest "least downside ridden" form of energy generation we've ever discovered. The problem is that the downsides it does have are MAJOR when they happen and they also involve nuclear physics which hardly anyone understands (even with the internet, fear of physics is still a thing). I'm lucky if I can find someone who understands nuclear fusion is different from fission and that different kinds of thorium reactors offer promising alternatives that are even safer still). Andrew was all over this, and it's because he doesn't make his mind up in advance of carefully investigating the details.
      What's remarkable and different about Andrew was his first principles based and (mostly) non-ideological thinking (this is what people say, but really they mean he doesn't make his mind up in advance). Andrew is eminently persuadable if you've got the data, the numbers the evidence, the methodology and the reasons working for you. A good or better argument will change the guy's mind - imagine having a government with the structures and systems that actually allow reason based thinking to be reliably implemented in viable policies. I know this is going to sound like a utopian dream to anyone who understands history or just human nature, but having a guy like Andrew win the nomination would certainly have constituted a decent shot at it.
      He does clearly lean left. Overall, that aligns with me personally but he's been either unwilling or unable to criticize things affirmative action (to take one example) even though it's problems have really started to show. Of course, no one really sees through all their biases. For the most part his concern for normal people over money or corporations takes an authentic and practical form though, and you can tell this from his policies and his focus in diagnosing the problems. Andrew understands not to ask or expect people to be heroes and go against their own self-interest - especially in large numbers consistently for extended stretches of time.
      He understands that getting many people to change quickly requires that you think carefully about the motivations and incentives driving people. It's what makes him different from Bernie; they share the same sympathies, but Andrew's ideas have the potential to scale, function and persist as intended (without deploying creepy overbearing constraints on people). Proposing policies that take human tendencies (generally classified as "human nature") into account makes all the difference in the world (until we start intentionally altering our nature and learn to alter it to something we like better I suppose).
      We all aspire to consistently do the right thing even when it's hard, but to expect most people to do this most of the time is actually a stupid expectation when you think about it. Reading between the lines, it's implied in almost *all* persuasive political rhetoric in some manner (either everyone else will be heroes or the government will somehow provide us everything we want and still manage to balance the budget etc.). It's a strategy that somehow still continues to fool people in large numbers and I would venture to guess that the Trump supporters that have crossed over to support Yang are likely permanently changed by their experience in this regard. On the other hand, the increasing number of people who have becoming disengaged from politics and were re-energized by Andrew suggests to me that many have started to catch on. Perhaps they were waiting for someone like Andrew who was willing to actually develop data, evidence and reason-based policies.

    • @Goreuncle
      @Goreuncle 4 роки тому +2

      Yang dropped out because he doesn't have enough support elsewhere (his team did the math, don't doubt it for a second).
      The DNC doesn't control people's minds, the US is a conservative country, candidates like Yang are too different for people to feel comfortable with, it was always a long shot.
      They're already refusing Bernie because he wants to implement universal programs... you know how it goes, giving people "free stuff" will supposedly bring about armageddon, etc.
      How did you expect they were going to react to stuff like UBI, if they're already paranoid with the supposed "freeloaders"?
      Automation is a huge issue that many countries in the world are already facing, Yang was right to talk about it and I predict that we'll hear about it more and more in the coming years.
      But I guess that most people still feel it's kind of premature to ring the alarm bells at this point (they aren't convinced about climate change yet, so it's definitely a slow process).

    of the remaining candidates - i'm not going to bother wasting my time with voting. its not worth my time, they all have similar policies and some just plain hurts the economy and small business owners. Yang was the only sensible choice. only way i'd bother is if the other candidates actually adopt yang's ubi unconditional policy.

    @Andrewyang is the only presidential candidate that got me inspired to be involved, donate and really excited for NOV to come so I can vote for . First presidential candidate to make me really sad and cry. But I'm sure the #yanggang will be back with full force!!! thank you Andre Yang.

    The system is broken and Yang had the tools to fix it. Now we aren’t going to stand idly by and watch the country take a dive. Let’s secure the bag and fix what’s broken. #YangGangForLife

      Ok, so people deserve Trump simply because they didn't vote for your candidate...
      Petty, childish and vindictive much? 🤣
