I was born and raised 30 minutes from where I am now in Missouri. I was born in November in the 1940s and this kind of weather was common from November through March. It snowed sometimes for days. School wasn't called off and for most of the storms life went on as usual. Oh and stores didn't run out of food like they do these days. Now the weather patterns have shifted so drastically people panic, schools close and stores run out of food at the mention of snow. People have no idea these days how really easy they have it. 😉 Happy New Year from an old lady in Missouri. ✨️
I wish I had photos from the December 1981 going into January 1992 Winter Storm here and in East St. Louis!!! Got up to 6-8 feet in places! We lived on Forest Ave close to Manchester. We had to open our window to get out and shovel the snow to open the door!!!!
They did a horrible job at cleaning up the roads. Lots of accidents and stranded semi trucks. Ice everywhere off ramp was the worse. Good luck dealing with ice Monday and Tuesday.
ST. LOUIS COLD WIND, SNOW, ICE & MORE - 2025** A good poem like a cardinal Is pregnant with song. You can’t help but hear its message As it sings what's right or wrong. Over the heads of all I meet Falls winter's life giving snow. Upon the rooftops and the streets Filling the sky and earth below. Dancing, swirling, skimming along, Like the snows of yesteryears. There's lots of ice on the windows As my lashes freeze over with tears. It's so cold; it's too cold to snow Yet the snow continues to fall. The land is covered blanket white As the winter winds wail their call. There's a red-hot fire awaiting me That will thaw out my every part. It's not the glow of a fireplace But the love that dwells in my heart. By Tom Zart Most Published Poet On The Web
I love how the news anchors tells us to stay off the roads while they not only drive to and from work but drive all over the area with camera crews, I guess they feel their job is more important that everyone else's!

Every news reporter these days sounds like a 2nd grader giving a book report. What ever happened to having intelligent reporting. They talk like everyone is in kindergarten.
This isn’t even that big of a storm. If there were competent experienced directors running MoDOT and the counties the roadways would be just wet. How is it that road crews in states where they have blizzards can keep the roadways wet and or at least drivable during one but we get a few inches and it practically shuts down the area? It stopped snowing hours ago and all the highways are still not drivable.
@ 😂 that’s what sheeple do. Their master (the media) is freaking out so they need to also. As we all know we have never had winter weather in St. Louis before lol
Couldn't some of you also do work at home to do reports, without putting yourselves at risk today? You don't always need to have a reporter on a scene, but hearing from your locals out there working to clear snow was nice to let them know they're appreciated.
I'm in my late 60s, grew up in STL. Yes it's been much whiter in back-to-back years during '60s, '70s, '80s. IIRC it was only around 2008-10 that the routine heavy snow started slacking off.
These are hilarious to those of us in the sierra nevadas, cascades and Rockies honestly. "It was harrowing getting out here" doesnt even have two feet to our normal 10'-20' 😂😂😂

Hopefully in the future govt will disable civilian cars to prevent any unauthorized travel, for our safety, at the first flurries. This is very traumatic
My last comment was removed from UA-cam and it wasn't even bad. Have you considered that people don't want to be on the road but the must be there for some reason. You want the government to mandate what people can and cannot do. Really?
