This song both celebrates the positivity of wanting to make customers happy (we're not in this art field to make people feel bad about themselves) and the awesomeness of a super cute, well drawn caricature while poking fun at the fantasy-based, candy-coated realm that a super cute drawing could exist in (think the cute Unikitty world in the Lego Movie). I personally believe that drawing a cute caricature is totally cool if there is still exaggeration and likeness. However, if you're doing drawings under the name of caricature and drawing so "flattering" that it loses likeness, in that you're straight-up lying about how people look so that you don't "hurt their feelings," then this is the opposite of caricature. Mostly everyone that isn't a caricaturist has this idea that anything that is unique about their face and that doesn't fit societal beliefs of what is attractive is a flaw. Well, this BELIEF is a flaw! What makes you look unique is what truly makes you beautifully human! "Flaws" only exist as an idea because of us vs. them mentalities, business marketing, the entertainment industry, jealousy and how we are raised. So if you're drawing a lack-of-likeness, lack-of-exaggeration caricature that is intentionally packed with lies instead of truth, you are only feeding that insecurity machine instead of doing our job: to celebrate how awesomely unique everyone is, to help customers learn to laugh at themselves instead of taking themselves so seriously, and to do a cool drawing that shows our guests, to the best of our ability, a lot of cool stuff about their likeness that they might not yet know 😊I listened to a lot of cute songs, mostly Japanese pop, while working on this song. Finding some kitten and puppy sound effects and tuning them to make a cute little beat for the chorus was super fun! Mae Adao was perfect for the bridge of this song, turning her already cute voice into an even cuter one, plus Mae is the queen of super cute yet still awesomely exaggerated and fun caricatures! Other artists in that realm include Ali R.Thome and dozens of Japanese artists. I added a bit of a Satanic voice juxtaposed over a chipmunk voice at the end of the song to show how drawing cute can often be used as a cop-out to drawing good caricatures because that kind of product easily sells and makes lots of money, as Satanism relates to greed, lies and selfishness. Also, I'm sure that even Satan likes to look cute sometimes too 😊A lot of people request a cute, flawless drawing because most people prefer comfortable lies, but it's our job to remind them that caricatures can be cute but will also be funny and exaggerated, which most of them already know. If you tell them that you're celebrating their awesome uniqueness in a funny way, and you say it in a friendly, positive way, most people will accept that and go along for the ride!
