I found the section of the patchwork rather interesting, because [from what I understand] Boro Kimono, or patchwork, was considered a mark of poverty. Now, however, patchwork is being more accepted and as a way to save other beautiful discarded fabrics.
@@MarcusCato275 I apologise if I seem like I am following you here on yt. I am currently watching season 1 episode 7 on summer kimono. I find fabric construction as well as yarn construction fascinating and yes.. I have thought about trying sashiko ♥️

(even though I wasn't the original commenter) I completely agree with you. Western suiting is so different to Tsumugi. The way the fibre is woven plus I do not think it would sit well on the wearer even if it was by a good tailor. Its just so different! I wouldn't even contemplate having that made like that either. I wish I had one. Just for around the house etc. Are they expensive to buy second hand? I saw fabric sellers in that road in Kichijoji etc but was way too scared to go in. That was a couple of years ago.
@@MarcusCato275 Yes Yes Yes! Everything you said, yes! I was thinking yukata.. the sort you wear to onsen if you want to take a stroll down the village. But I was quite taken by tsumugi and this episode is several years old. I am much taller than most japanese women however I did notice a few younger ladies there much taller than the older generation . I am 175cm tall. I have weirdo long arms (i know, i have checked soooooo many size and shape charts) I think that is from my father's side lol. Its good for reaching things though. I was thinking going to a more rural area like Niigata or around their farming areas. And yes, I do not speak japanese even though i did a semester at uni lol. I can say two bottles of beer please and where is the toilet lol. As much as I like the big cities, I prefer smaller places that dont mind tall giddy blondes being excited there looking like the Hoppy girl 😀 But I'd really like one made properly from yarn production, yarn woven by hand and fitted properly. I do like my textiles and method of production. One of my most happiest memories there was visiting Somaro tea house/maiko house in Sakata, Yamagata prefecture and everywhere you looked it was so aesthetically pleasing and there was a lot of things there from the mercantile era. I would have liked to see all the steps taken to wear the tsumugi and the obe item around the waist. I can't imagine.
I wonder how much does tsumugi fabric costs, it would be intresting to use it on high quality suit.
