Most of the time you are going off feel /feedback from both the level of the machine and the resistance through the blade. Also he is aware of the changes in levels that you can’t see with the naked eye or from a camera situated well above the ground.
Kind of defeats the purpose of pushing the water if you’re just going to push too far and have the water spill back in on you. He’s alright but could have been less messy.
