What a lovely video! You've inspired me to go take a walk along the local creek today. The Year of Magical Thinking has meant a lot to me over the last couple of years. I agree that Didion's work is most moving when she's talking about her grief for her husband rather than the experiences of her daughter. Hot Feminist sounds awful!
I was going to point out how The Heartland was renamed, but it looks like you already found out! I found it super interesting too when I read it a few years ago. His novel is worth a read too if you haven’t already read it. I don’t think they renamed that one! You were more tolerant than me by sticking with Hot Feminist. I was pleading with you to DNF! I got rid of most of my TBR earlier this year, as the choice was paralysing. I now rely on my Kindle and, mostly, reserving books at the library so that I only have my holds available to pick from. Another wonderful reading vlog. I feel like I need a hoody with “Keri” on it to match your “Joy” one! 😂
You must feel so happy to finally have read the oldest books on your TBR! Really enjoyed the haunting moments. And the chocolate workshop looked fun! I really loved the year of magic thinking and found it to be incredibly poignant look at grief. I don't mind the academic and medical side of things, so I think that didn't impact my reading of the book as much. But I can see how that wouldn't work for everyone. I think I found it to be a respite from the emotional intensity every now and again. Hot feminism sounds terrible :'(
It’s a very satisfying feeling to cross some of these books off my TBR for sure! I’d like to read more from Joan Didion to compare because the bits I liked, I really liked.
Oh, I mist get to the Joan Didion, I am very drawn to memoirs living with bereavement. You have me very curious. Danny Abse, the Welsh poet, has written a really powerful memoir after his partner of more than thirty years passed away in a car crash. I can't keep away from these sort of books.
This was good fun, I liked how you did some special effects 👻 I think when we have really old books on our tbr it sometimes makes us realise how much our tastes have grown and got more focused to what we like. So odd and so annoying re the change of title - especially when the first title and cover were much better!! Hot feminist sounds absolutely terrible and it has the lowest rating I've ever seen on storygraph, so obviously everyone agrees!
You’re so right about reading tastes changing. Would be interesting to read something old and something new on my TBR together to compare. Yikes about the StoryGraph rating but I feel slightly relieved it wasn’t just me. Doesn’t feel right slating a book about feminism but have to call it as I see it. Thanks for watching Sarah ♥️
Great video and loving the creative filming! You have inspired me to read some of my physical TBR 📚 🤗
Thank you so much! I had fun making it. Hope you feel lighter getting to some of those older books! ♥️
I chuckled so much at the little hauntings 😅
24:34 what a glorious wood to walk in, absolutely perfect vibes.
Thanks Becca! It felt good to be silly! We’re so lucky to have woods like this close by. ♥️

Hope you had a lovely walk! I can see me revisiting The Year Of Magical Thinking. Thanks so much for watching. ♥️

I really must read some Danny Abse. I think you’d really like The Year Of Magical Thinking.
@@BookishAdventuresInWellbeing: Can't wait to get to it. You certainly have me very curious about it. Danny Abse is wonderful.
