Well you won't. If the government doesn't care about keeping the prices low so you can keep more of your money, they sure af don't care if you get paid more to cover this bs. This is exactly why you can't depend on the government for your needs. Raise your value and keep more of your money. That's what needs to be done.
My wife and I were the same before COVID, we had decent incomes so we pretty much just got whatever we wanted from the store. Now we budget it out and don't get alot of stuff we use to, or hve made substitutes. I don't know how sustainable this is if it keeps going this way.
Inflation goes up and down, but it never goes below zero. Therefore, all inflation effects are permanent. Therefore, there is never a basis to cut someone's salary. Say inflation is at 8% and it drops to 4%. That means that the prices that inflated by 8% have gone up another 4%. It does not mean that prices came down.
inflation going negative = deflation, right? Multiple cases in the past where our economy was deflationary if I'm not mistaken
@@obomasinladen No. It's not going to be deflation. It's going to be inflation. The dollar is dying.
@obomasinladen. The effects can only be reversed if forced and prices are regulated. In a capitalist society there is absolutely no incentive to make less money. Ever. This only stops with forced legal intervention or mass violence. There are no other futures.

The thing that dave ramsey and his crew doesn't understand.... inflation is the RATE at which things are increasing in price. We have not had ANY significant NEGATIVE inflation in the past 55 years. So if inlation is 8% this year, and 7% the next year, and 2% the fallowing year, that means the cost of goods and services has gone up those percentages each year, and as a advocate for youself, we should advocate for matching inflation for each of those years.
So for me, my wife and our 9 year old son and mastiff, we spend between $2000-$2500 easily on food and household items per month. I look at the statistics and just laugh my butt off when they say that the average family spends about $800 a month on food. Maybe they do - if they are eating Mac and cheese and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches 3x a day for a month. Oh and yes, this with us going out to eat once a week and maybe forking out $70-$80 a week on eating out.
The fact you have a mastiff says it all.
Also you’re probably buying very healthy organic type foods.
I have 2 daughters and my partner and our groceries are like $1500 monthly
@@lovelydia21 Absolutely yes! We buy a lot of organic foods. We primarily shop at Costco because you get a lot of good deals there. Our mastiff probably costs an easy $300 a month to feed. Then when you factor in organic foods - it’s an easy $2000 (including household stuff like soap and paper). $1500 is pretty good for 4 of you. That comes out to approximately $375 a week. Yeah my wife can get up to buying that amount in 1-2 days when we are completely out of food.
I was watching a documentary which stated that organic foods might be a fraud and fake😢
It's terrible. I have several medical conditions and have to eat low sodium, non processed food. We already ate a lot of homemade meals but being sick sometimes it's very hard for me to do this. Bread is awful and disgusting now and so expensive for FOAM. The only way to survive is be able to keep rotating what you eat, eat as healthy as you can afford, and learn how to cook from scratch. I was already thrifty but this is getting out of hand.

Expensive indeed, over the last 11 years I'm spending double to a little over double on groceries alone when compared to 2013 prices. I used to be able to spend 200 a month on food then.
Back in 2019 I was making barely anything maybe 11/12 dollars an hour but could still make it was living alone no kids. In 2021 I got pregnant even on birth control(from long term partner togeyher 7 years) I freaked out but my parents and I did the math and they would help me out financially if needed. Out came beautiful and sweet girl who l loves butterflies and bunnies.
Now I’m working more hours then ever and my parents baby sit for free and I help them with the bills including my own I feel so scared for the future alot of times my young daughter eats extra piece of chicken or more vegetables which means I don’t get any because it just not affordable anymore. My partner cannot work because of PTSD from his childhood so I have so many people relying on my income and its getting to a point that we don’t know what to do. My parents and I as well as my siblings are thinking of moving in together. I now have high bloodpressure from the chronic stress.
I’m so sorry things are rough. I’m not trying to be judgmental but some people with PTSD do work. Is there any way he can help pull some of his weight in the household? It’s taking a health toll on you. That’s not right. I’m a single mom, I have (had?) PTSD and I severely struggled with mental and physical health, and I work full time. I have a child depending on me. It’s not a choice. But with therapy and other supports, people with PTSD and other conditions can and do work.

On the Belgian labour market, annual salary increases in line with inflation is mandated by law. Everyone gets an increase in January. When inflation goes down the annual salary increase is simply lower but not negative. Another interesting peculiarity about the market is that most people get 14 salaries per year (covering summer vacation expenses and Christmas holiday period)
Donuts ,, yes, donuts that’s how stupid this is… in the early 70s I would go down to the donut shop with a couple of quarters and come back with a dozen donuts. In 1974 I would go to the grocery store next to our home with a dollar. ((you’re supposed to ignore the fact that back then elementary school children could rome around the earth without armed security, or an SUV.))). I’m old now,,, last time I went to buy donuts. With the amount of fertile land and farms the US has how the hell is the prices of groceries so high. I would understand if the space is limited but that is not the case.
Short answer: because producers charge whatever people are willing to pay. If egg sales dropped when prices first rose, further increases would have stopped.

No name potato chips. Were $1. Now $1.50. 50% increase.
prices at our local stores have increased 4 to 5 times the original costs. That is 500% inflation. Example: 80/20 hamburger in 2019 was $1.00 a pound, on sale. Now in 2024, it is $4.99 a pound, on sale. Some items have not increased at all, usually the items that very few people purchase. Meats, produce, and frozen products have raised the most. Milk prices have not changed, I can buy a gallon of whole milk for $2.29 at Walmart. Eggs are back down to 99 cents a dozen.
I Agree about the prices I buy I can't Believe it's not butter the spray one because I like to spray it on my pan it used to be 3.99 which I thought was ridiculous.. now it's 5.49 the bottles about the size of my wrist to my middle finger.. what did they think I wouldn't notice and, then to throw salt in the wound they have the gall to give me a dollar off coupon which still makes it 4.49 there crazy.. and another thing they do now if they don't raise the price they shrink the packaging.. it's sad nowadays you got to shop around which makes it just as bad because gas. Keeps fluctuating out here from kind of high to real high.. you just can't win😮

Lol I freakin love this channel
- Eggs experienced a notable increase, from $1.59 to $4.89, marking a 27.5% price increase due to an egg shortage caused by AV and flu.
- Dairy and meat products saw significant price hikes, such as cheese slices up by 24.5%, chocolate milk by 42.33%, and ground beef by 37%.
- Other items like bread increased by 27%, Quaker Oats by 33%, and GT's Kombucha by a staggering 51%.
- Comparing to March 2020, frozen chicken breasts increased from $5.94 to $9.74, marking a 63% increase, and Quaker Oats went up by 54%.
- The total cost of the basket of goods in March 2020 was $117.01, whereas in the present year, it would amount to $151.99, indicating an increase of 29.89%.
Groceries have become significantly more expensive over the past few years due to high inflation. According to the video, the same basket of groceries that cost $14.93 in 2021 now costs $127.56, a 10.99% increase. When comparing prices from March 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic, the same basket of goods has increased by a staggering 29.89%. [1]
The video highlights several items that have seen major price hikes, such as eggs (27.5% increase), cheese slices (24.5% increase), chocolate milk (42.33% increase), ground beef (37% increase), and Quaker Oats (33% increase). [1]
The video explains that these price increases are largely driven by factors like supply chain issues, the avian flu causing an egg shortage, and overall high inflation. [1] The host notes that while some items like oat milk have actually decreased in price, the majority of grocery staples have become significantly more expensive over the past few years. [1]
The video concludes by comparing the total cost of the grocery basket from March 2020 ($117.01) to the current cost of $151.99, demonstrating just how much prices have risen during this period of high inflation. [1]
1. Inflation is the rate at which prices increase, not the actual level of prices. [2]
2. As inflation declines, prices do not actually decrease, they just increase at a slower rate. Prices tend to remain "permanently fixed at this elevated level" and do not come back down. [2]
3. This is because inflation is a monetary phenomenon caused by the supply of money growing faster than demand for money. Relative price changes, on the other hand, are driven by supply and demand for specific goods, not the overall money supply. [3]
4. The search results indicate that while the overall inflation rate has declined from its peak, prices for many goods and services are still significantly higher than before the recent high inflation period. [4][5]
5. For example, the consumer price index (CPI) shows that while the overall price level is up around 80% since 2000, some components like education and medical care have more than doubled in price, while communication costs have actually decreased. [5]
In summary, the evidence suggests that while inflation has come down from its highs, prices across the economy remain elevated compared to pre-inflation levels. Prices do not automatically fall back to previous levels just because the inflation rate has declined. The search results indicate that prices are still more expensive overall, even as the pace of price increases has slowed. The dynamics of relative price changes versus overall inflation are important to understand.

We need a system where if you can document to your employer that your cost of living has gone up he must, no exceptions, increase your pay to meet those costs. In NYC the rent guidelines board increases rents so that landlords keep the same percentage of profit from the previous year. Instead of fairly sharing the pain of a bad economy only renters feel the pain of inflation and never the landlord.
You need deflation for prices to go down.
Other things are going up too like rent and basic needs so all I can do it take away from my money I have left over for food
I'm a person that has stocked up for many years long before covid so I'm not having to pay the higher prices most of the canned vegetables or meat have an expiration date of 2025 or 2026. I've been buying only markdown meat and as much markdown food items as I could find
its because of consolidation of top supermarkets, shrinking of the competitve options and they just informally cartel that shit and keep prices artificially high.
They know exactly what they are doing. Milk would still be the same price at the start of the pandemic when farmers were pouring out milk and throwing away eggs rather than give it away or sell it for cheap before it went bad.
You have to adjust to what ever comes your way. Adaption is key.

I don't like the idea of just adjusting based off of how much you are getting robbed by the government though.....
You are not at the low income level. People with low income already do not buy things they don’t need. Shopping and take always and holidays are a pipe dream- we don’t even think about those things! I just want to comment because I find people in the upper classes really lack awareness around being considerate of what low income people really have to spend- which is really nothing. I am glad that you have found it easy to adapt to this economy, that is good to hear, but there are many people below you who were barely getting by and now they are literally half starving themselves for a place to live, or vice versa- can’t have both food and an apartment- can’t have lights on and enough toilet paper- must choose whatever takes priority that month. Trust me, the lower classes want to adapt and be ok just like everyone else. There are things beyond a persons control that can spell for a really difficult time generating income. Maybe sone people are just “lazy”, ok- but many are not! Many have faced catastrophic injuries, illnesses, unwanted divorce, maybe an untruthful spouse who ruined all chance of being able to secure a loan again, maybe someone’s business was not able to recover from Covid and now they are thousands in debt- the list goes on and on. Yes of course you can always do your damndest to make all of the money that you can, but being at the bottom of the barrel is rarely something anyone would choose. Just putting it out there as food for thought, thanks for reading.

There was a time when annual cost-of-living increases were the norm... so that the employee is not required to lower their standard of living in order to have long-term job security.
That all started to disappear when Ronald Reagan was elected President, he implemented supply-side economics, and all the labor protections went away.
Sad.
The reason why everything is going up in price, is that the Billionaires and Trillionaires have bought majority shares in stocks of places like Target, McDonalds etc & using this Majority status they have demanded that prices increase. & Apparently it doesn't take much to get CEOS to increase prices because they have gone through the roof. I think its time for Windfall Profits Tax & time for the Government to enforce Price Gouging Laws that are already on the books. Thank you.

Groceries and gas arent included in the inflation numbers right? Or am I crazy?
That's correct, food is not included in the way the Fed calculates inflation.
It depends on which measure of inflation. The CPI you usually see in the news is CPI-U and does take into account food and fuel. However, Core CPI does not take into account Food and Fuel.

The data shows that grocery prices have generally increased each year, with some exceptions like 2009-2010 and 2013 when the increases were very low. However, the rate of increase has varied significantly, with much higher inflation in recent years, peaking at nearly 10% in 2022 before moderating somewhat in 2023. The long-term average annual increase in grocery prices since 2000 has been around 2.5-3%.
The cumulative increase in grocery prices from 2000 to 2024 is approximately 359.3%.

I was spending $45-60 per week on groceries pre pandemic, that same grocery list is $90-110/week now.
I don't drive much but fuel was mid-high $3 pre pandemic and is now high $5.
My rent was $1300 in 2019 and is now $1800 in 2023. (same unit)
Oats, cheese/milk/butter/cream, meats, oils, nuts, grains and most produce have all increased in price significantly for me.

Gas near me is around $3.50 and I never fill my car up completely. The electric bill is about 140 a month.
A 10-pound bag of frozen chicken breast at Costco used to be around $20. Now you can only find 8 pounders, at $26/27. I used to balance it out buying their $4.99 rotisserie that are now $6 or $7. Toiletries are ridiculous. Toilet paper and paper towels have gone up 30 or 40%. Canned beans used to be around $.89, now I can't find anything below a dollar. The list goes on.

The cost of living and housing is rising everywhere in the world which already says that the real reason is global. In Finland, however, the cause of the increase in food prices and rents has been blamed on the unemployed and especially the social security paid to the unemployed, and that is why it is now strongly demanded that the unemployed should be punished for it, but this mentality is so wrong. I personally believe that it is not about the unemployed, but that the increases are at least the combined effects of inflation, the pandemic, and war.

The guy can’t do basic math. See my comment on this video.
Sorry take, a dozen of eggs is still a dozen of eggs, a 12oz steak is still a 12oz steak, so is a twelve pack of Coke.
The PER OZ PRICE of EVERYTHING has increased relative to just as recently as a year ago.
Even if the math is off on the percentages. The prices are bang on. Look up grocery price fixing in recent years
Ontario Canada here, I used to be able to eat extremely well for 100-200$ worth of groceries for a month to 2. Now 100$ lasts about a week, usually less. Things like toilet paper, dog foods, margarine, etc... has all gone up in insane amounts, some going over 10$
