I am a major werewolf fan, LOVE werewolf movies! Thanks for this. I found your interpretation of the identities of Geri and Freki intriguing; that makes sense given the nature and presentation of other wolves in Norse mythos.

Thank you, I find your information very interesting. Nordic beliefs have been taught to me since I was a very small child by my very special and mysterious Dad. He was named Gery and taught me so many about wolves, nordic religion and he was crying when I was around 10yr that he was so sorry for beying my dad as I was just like him and that we are loners and our paths will be lonely, long and heavy. Nobody will understand us because they can not see... He left home when I was 11yrs... A very wise man!

What a great talk, thanks for this Arith. This has raised a thousand thoughts for me. I'm so glad the totemic shamanic work of our ancestors gets recognition here as it always just seems to be accepted as a Native American practice.

You've heard it misappropriated from our culture, the word Shaman and the practice of Shamanism is specific to the Finnish Sami people, they are the direct descendants of stone age Europeans like the Basque or the Flemish and people would argue this but also the British are any where from fifty to one hundred percent European Hunter gatherer stock.
Any way fun fact, shamanism isn't Native American or African its actually European
Other "witch doctors" or whatever you want to call them have their own words for the practices unique to their culture.
Lumping it all together and calling it Shamanism is harmful to cultures like the Norse or Lakota that are struggling to recover from judeo Christianity's destructive influence on their way of life.
The differences between cultures are what make them all worth existing, focusing on the similarities forces all people into the same kind of mono culture mold as monotheism does.
Monoculture is just one necessary step towards Apocalypse. When we are all the same with the same strengths and vulnerabilities, we are just one calamity away from the end of Civilization.
Wait what am I saying? anything that can bring a stop to this Self replicating monkey meat factory is alright by me
      DESTROY NECROPOLIS!

@@ulfredorkjaeger7534 However nowadays Shamanism is considered to be an actual anthropological term for people communicating or interacting with spirits that inhabit, or make up, the world (animsm) :) You are right about its origin though, and you are also right that we have to be careful not to "lose culture" because we have a tendency to categorize everything!

In Scandinavia/Sweden you were not allowed to pronounce the word Varg or Ulv because it could cause death and trouble.
So people made up a by-name for Varg Wolf or Ulv, and one of those names were Skragge/Skraggen.
So interestingly my ancestors lastname was Skragge.
In the last movie of the lord of the rings they use a battering ram with the look of a wolf.
Another word for battering ram is shragga in Scandinavia

Bless your work Arith! I'm a big fan...
However, picture this, we begin to look beyond the borders of deep antiquity. Modern man is anything but. He is constantly trying to outlast, out think, or work with nature. Wolves became our allies longer ago than we can reliably date, and so before we became concerned with livestock over prey animals the wolf was a the perfect individual and kinsman. As our lives became less like the wolves we begin to dislike wolves and those people who behave like them, wilder than others. So we see a honorable title turned on its ear as most of society goes with the changing times and others do not, and are seen as trouble

Thank you and well said! :) We progressively lost the touch with the wilds, but we are in an Era right now where we are starting to reconnect, although I honestly think that much was lost and we will never fully understand how deep we go go. Things are changing nonetheless.

Galdr is certainly related to the power of the voice, such as in runic magical work, not the pronunciation of words but the sound of the voice saying the letters. Vocal chanting was common in sorcery and other magical practices in Northern Europe, which most likely came from shamanic practices of the Saami. That's something I shall have to make a video in due time.

Ulf is the word I have seen from the "viking" time or before. I don't know just this is only thing I have noticed from you that is not historically correct.

There is a Wintu legend on the East Coast, Likely Cherokee and Cheyenne too.. The Wendigo, descendents of my family, shapeshifters, etc... were confused with Lycans... The Chief Winnetou stories derived from the Wendigo legends. Look up Mohawks in the National Archive and you will see we were the Native Militia and guerilla warfare experts. We are also German, Welsh, Scottish and Scandinavian Royal lines. However, Natives believes that because they were wearing Wolf or Bear pelts they were Lycan, not so.. in europe the same bloodlines were considered Vampyre! Very old ones, combinations of the Vampyre, Lycan and the Warlock... the Native American Mohawk Shaman family... folklore of course right. So they say that they were confusing wolves with vampires, the wolves were cursed... the vampires and witches werent.
In reality, my ancestors were viking princes, berzerkers and guerilla warfare experts. Using fear, to stop criminal activity.

There is Native American legends based off of my family the Lycan or Wendigo, Shapeshifters, and even the Dog soldiers... in reality we were guerilla warfare experts form antiquities. We are the German, Scottish, Welsh, Scandinavian and other Royal lines. We were the berzerker princes and although on this continent were connected to werewolves or lycanism, in Europe we were thought of as Vampyre/warlocks. We used fear tactics and guerilla warfare to protect borders and to prevent crimes and the fear generated the stories told of vampires and lycans. Look at the National Archives for the natives on the East Coast and you will find that Mohawks were the Native Militia and bounty hunters, and the Native American Monarchial family. We were protecting the borders of Germany, Scottland and Europe, and North America... Vlad Dracul, Buica, The picts that defeated the Roman... I am a descendent of Mac Angus II, 72nd King of the Picts.
So what they sometimes confuse with werewolves in folklore, we consider vampyre, wolf/bear, warlock princes. In actuality, were geurilla warfare experts. My ancestors tactics lived on with the Nazi, Napolean, Che Gueverra, The American revolutionaries and Washington, The Union/Confederacy, and the israeli systems, and todays marines...

It's pretty simple. Where mankind had agriculture and livestock, they hated wolves. Where they were hunter gatherers wolves and other predators were respected and revered. Even modern times hatred for wolves is just some ignorant throwback from some useless ancestral baggage. Same with spiders, snakes, vultures etc. Too bad, people are missing out in some powerful teachers.

If you haven’t done a video on bind-runes yet I’d love to learn more on them! I’ve been using a few of my own bind runes

You judge a person's spirituality based on a video which is a single academic approach to this theme. You may have seen true power but it hasn't given you much humbleness, nor insight.
