I never put more than 200W through it and I think I was chancing my luck here. It does need completely rewiring though. I swapped out all the SO239s too. The switch itself is probably the weakest point - that and the metal chassis are the only two original bits left in mine! Thanks for watching. 73 Nick
Did you purchase that antenna switch used from a private person? Or did you purchase it new from a vendor? It sure looks like someone put the magic screw driver to it. It looks better now.
It came new from a famous auction website. I suspect it was built that way. The guy who produced a video saying how great the unit was clearly never opened it up and looked inside! I had to once the RF connectors started coming away in my hands!!! There is a reason that decent RF coaxial switches are more expensive I think. Thanks for watching. 73
the fiber board switch will burn up with 500w of rf into off resonance antenna (high vswr)..have seen them black with even 100w into a out of resonant antenna ..best to junk it for the cost of making your own with a ceramic switch and connectors you could make a far better one
u do what hams are pos to do.. make it work for ur needs.. good on you.. 73 oldman
I bought a couple of OPEK CX5 3 way Coaxial antenna switch, a little scared to look inside them...lol
I have the same switch, I removed all wires and replaced them with coax and it is fine up to vhf
Well done. Good to hear.
You forgot to paint out two of the zeroes in the "1000 watts"...
Any guesses how much that switch can take? Finding a suitable switch, it could be a neat homebrew project building one!

@@M0NTVHomebrewing yes they are built that way by opek
Did you measure S-parameter values before and after the upgrade?
Hi there! No I didn't I'm afraid.

The content of this video is an insult to rodent homemakers.
