I love your vids, this is a great list. I played an SK from 2000 to 2003/4 up to 65. It was an absolute blast and you’re right, SK’s are basically the undisputed best tank FOR GROUPS. Warriors are best for raids, of course. Since I’ve been back playing TLPs, I usually main an ench because I love their versatility but I made an SK persona and as soon as I get some time to play I’m gonna work on leveling him. Keep up awesome vids coming
I think it’s great that there’s all these different upsides and downsides to all the classes that appeal to other people in completely different ways. For me, Shaman is by far my favorite class, but even when listening to your reasoning for their placement there wasn’t much I was disagreeing with. I love their versatility, how they can solo and group extremely effectively, how I’m rarely left just sitting and medding with nothing to do, and how they scale very well with gear. But I completely understand how someone would see it as tedious and unfun. In the opposite direction, I hate being the puller and so avoid monks like the plague, but I’m extremely grateful to have a monk in my group and I’m very appreciative of the skill that it takes. I hate the risk and pressure that the puller assumes, and I’m very thankful to find other players that have mastered that art.
nice comment appreciate it. Shaman was crazy i still like it but man you really gotta be a busy body for sure. People dont realize how much the shaman is doing if they doing it right dancing and what not. Keepn up on buffs etc...controlling a pet SHEESH...healing...wtf! Pulling is its own kind of fun you got the groups lives and exp rate in your hands and get to go out and see the dungeon. takes skill to pull singles or pull more than that if the group can handle it...you have to know what your group can handle and pull accordingly
Like the list! I myself am currently trying to roll a Troll Shadowknight, as it is a class I never really truly tried to get far in. It will be a process, but hey at the end of the day it's just a game right? no sweat. Great job as usual!
From what I see in YT videos a geared sk look super fun and that's the character I chose to start as twinked as possible with the goal of conquering ToFS solo, even if it takes me a year to get strong enough for that.
I started a wizard because of your old videos. Quickly became my highest level toon. Once you start quadding reliably around level 34 its not only great exp but addicting!
You mentioned playing a SK in eqoa. There is a private server going if you would like to check it out. It is currently in testing stages but level cap is 45 and most quests to that level are in. The server is called sandstorm.
i dont even remember that game much. would be crazy to play. thanks for letting me know. i was running and gunning irl and kinda just played in bed at night
I was a Rogue main back in 1999 and all the way through Planes of Power. I never felt weak back then because everyone grouped. Getting groups was the meta, and there were groups almost everywhere you went. Flash forward to 2024 on P99, zones are sparsely populated and groups are almost non-existent (at least on Blue). Feels like Rogue suddenly becomes a really hard class to play. I'm sure some people will disagree with me, but these people are probably using Cloak of Flames, and Fungus tunics, and are likely also ignoring the fact there was never a documented case of being able to solo backstab on live. I spent years trying to accomplish this and never did, nor did anyone on thesafehouse forums. They eventually added an AA to the game to try and help compensate for this. But on P99 rogues can literally backstab while tanking mobs, and that was really never a thing.
Backstab while tanking, why? Goddamn, every 20 minutes looking at videos and reading Reddit threads I hear a new bit of weird ass information about either p99, or Quarm, or one of the seemingly endless other so called EQ2 worlds that describe things that are so totally NOT EverQuest at all, it just gets more and more confusing. I start to think Quarm is legit classic, then I’m led to believe nah it’s p99… then I’ll hear some weird shit and think, ehhh… p99 does wha, huh? Is there _anywhere_ that’s actually _NeverRest_ today, for the love of (Insert EQ god, it’s been decades)? There were _very_ good reasons this game was the original GOAT that caused more lost jobs and broken marriages than any other game in history. Naw mean? _Nyaaaaa!_
i came from modern mmos where everything is hyperactive so i had to play an enchanter to make things interesting but i do enjoy chilling on the cleric sometimes. I've also started a shaman, druid, necro, monk, magician, bard and those are my picks i've pretty much always enjoyed casters/support roles more in any game i've played. The melee classes don't interest me but Monk i just wanted to try after watching Flatts classic adventures.
TBF I feel like Magicians are pretty OP lol. It's just his opinion, which is fine, we all perceive things differently. I've seen magician epic pets that are better than full groups there's also that strategy for rapidly leveling magicians where you burn through a lot of malachites by letting your pet die fighting really tough mobs that way you nuke it one time and get all of the experience. I also feel gimped when I leveled my Wizard (I was group at the time because it was pre kunark, and most quad kiting spots were taken). It felt like magicians did so much more damage than me because they always had their pet and the damage difference between our nukes wasn't that big :( I could see where he's coming from though. Also if we're talking about a purely classic perspective, I don't think people charmed nearly as much in 1999, so Magician pets were always seen as these insanely OP things. Maybe less so with the adoption of charming high level mobs as the meta.
Oh also keep in mind the wonky strategy used on P99 green to get server first everything by using like 30 magicians and sending their pets in repeatedly to bombard mobs. I remember when PoSky opened and they cleared it all in like 18 hours using this strategy.
I hear people say that paladin is the best group tank, but sk get more fun stuff like fear, feign death, 1 hour levitate and instant invis clickies, but for w/e fucked up reason they can't bind wound to 70% hp while paladins not only can do that but they also get a clicky heal helm and bp.
Best class for raiding is Cleric by far. Best class to gear for solo / small group farming is iksar monk. Monk also responds the most to item upgrades in terms of power. So if you pick 1 class to fully build out, Monk. Rogues really good in terms of raiding power but gives up a lot of solo ability to a Monk for like 10-15% more DPS. Enc has great ability to solo camps but at great risk of death and is also a pain to play at raids.
@@glenhug3308 It can depend on the mob your fighting, really high AC mobs the rogues do better, lower AC stuff like a sleepers tomb trash mob the monks can match/beat rogues with same level of gear. Monks are pretty OP basically
That's not how you play the mage. I never chain summoned. Don't need too. You got decent DPS spells. You can summon cool utility items too. It's been easily one of my favorite play throughs
Any chance someone currently playing will get on the forum admins to send verification email to join. Signed up twice with separate emails no response to both..
hehe what was that noise at the end lol

I have a level 22 Gnome Warrior at the moment and he has become my main, and also probably my favorite character I have made so far.
little warrior fun too!
Poor Magicians always getting a bad wrap lol. I am playing one now and it has been a blast. Currently 51 on blue.
