You could pyt down some plastic or tarp and build the walls then cut the plastic out when you get the roof on. That way it helps protect the wood on the floor. Not necessary but its something I thought about.
I love the look of cypress on the outside of a house and the people stained the wood and it looked so nice I really like it but it’s your house and you do what you have to do on your house
Hey Rox and Anthony have been getting it between the rain and the hope they can get closer to getting the roof on the goody house I couldn’t think of the right word so that’s why I called it the goody house lol 😂
It’s 6:30 pm here in central Mississippi and we haven’t got any rain either but it could change soon who knows and yeah I’ve been looking for another video from you and I haven’t seen anything yet girl I’m wanting to see what you have gotten done on the house I’m anxious to see your mud room Mel
I am 63 years old and my husband is 68, I wish we would have done what you guys are doing when we were a young couple. I have so much admiration for the 2 of you. Keep living the good life, your children are blessed to have you. 💖
Hi Guy’s! Congratulations on windows & door! Exciting just listening to Gary speak about hunting ! Tung & groove easier then Sheetrock & sounds great🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Mel I saw on a channel I watch and she put tongue and groove on her floors but her dad also has a business cutting his own trees down oh wow Mel I didn’t know that you could put anything on your house not having to deal with the inspection and building what you wanted but I know Gary is going to make sure it’s all right
Hey Gary do y’all look at Ryan Hall for the updates on the hurricane I know I do because he pretty much has it all together or figured out but you never know with hurricanes
Not that you would do something like this BUT you ARE restricted in one area but i honestly dont think you would ever go there and that is how high you can build! I think its either 75 or 100 foot and after that you need permits for air space travel! I think that is a federal restriction but i honestly dont see you building ANYTHING that high even a zip line LOLOL
I love the board and batten looks it gives it an old-country feeling. A nice medium stain is gunstock on pine but you need to rub it in to show the grains to make it look great. God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Hi guys it's Ron in Canada and just making a suggestion for your mud room on the flooring. I just redid my kitchen with a waterproof vinyl planking which was very reasonable in price it looks excellent and it's completely waterproof which if I was doing a mud room😅 I would want something waterproof😅 anyway love your videos looking forward to the mudroom build keep them coming
Good morning Mel and Gary, yes looks like a beautiful day there. Your font mud room is going to look sharp, can’t wait to see the door and windows you picked. If Gary builds it, it’s perfect!! 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Michigan certain counties they have alot of codes some areas not so much. Gary goes over the top and always knows what the codes are. He done alot of research before he even started. Great job ❤❤
Here in Wi I am fairly close to two log cabin sawmill manufacturers. Log siding is pricey but they have seconds! Did my cabin 16 x 24 with 10’ sidewalls for $400. With 6 windows, door and 2 patio doors I had lots of cutting so seconds were not a problem. High end stain cost me more than siding .
The same guy (he's a bit quirky, lol) built a tool shed, with 4 different wall styles, one vertical, one horizontal, one diagonal and the last was a wall of first and last cuts of the logs. Some he did board and batten and some just the sealant. His channel is Surviving Ringworm, his Playlist are nicely grouped, that tool shed was really interesting. ❤❤
Mike at MT Homestead turned C'mon on to a bunch of windows, when you are thinking about greenhouse windows. They might have been from a habitat for humanity store, not sure. BTW there is a guy in the UP of Michigan that cuts, mills and builds with wet lumber. He uses black roof tar sealant, he picks it up at the Habitat for a $1 a tube by the case. Once the wood dries and shrinks, he just goes back and adds more. Getting sealant at $1 a vs $5-7.00 is a great motivator. If you are trying to save that's one way! ❤❤
Michigan Habitat resale stores are the best also Menards. I miss both since living in Arizona now. We bought alot of things from Michigan resale stores.
One suggestion is have the kids gather leaves and name each one by looking at the tree and bark and leave combo. Every kid should learn the difference between hardwood and softwood and evergreen trees. Good luck Gary ,I am hoping you get a big buck.
We never learned that either so it would be a teaching moment for all of us. We grew up in the desert for the most part so it wasn't something we were taught. But we're having fun learning together 🤗
? I love all the windows and maybe this doesn’t apply in Arkansas but are you including hanging for multiple coats etc for 5 people or is that not part of the purpose of the room?
Science experiment for the kids. Buy 2 liter bottles of different types of soda. Some mentos and if you can find them the life savers peppermints in a roll. If not the bag of life saver peppermints will work. They are bigger in dont fit into the top of the bottle quick. You need to break them up a bit. Do this experiment outside. Open the bottles. Have each kids get a soda bottle , then either the peppermints or mentos. Their pick. Then drop two mentos or the whole roll of peppermints into the bottle then stand back. You have a soda geyser. You can see what soda went higher, lower ECT.
I always loved going hunting w my late husband. Just getting out in the woods and sitting watching wildlife. I personally have never got a deer i missed a huge 12 point. The bullet went under his chin😂. My late husband got him out our back window later. 😂 He came up to eat my garden😂❤❤❤. Good luck hunting Gary. ❤
One thing for sure if you have a dream and you are paying as you go, you can afford to wait for that particular project. Go for your dreams! Finish the inside before the outside. It's OK!
Mel I saw on a channel I watch and she put tongue and groove on her floors but her dad also has a business cutting his own trees down and it was gorgeous girl
My brother lived in a stationary house trailer and he had five ten and twelve-point bucks hanging on the living room walls, Quite often he would fall asleep on the couch. I asked him if he ever woke up in the middle of the night and thought they were all coming after him, you know night time and the only light is the TV. LOL God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
That’s a great idea Gary that you have everything to show if it ever came down to what and where and how it was done but I bet they wouldn’t be asking Gary again how he did what he did and knowing how it was done you two are a great couple and I love love watching you and I laugh at Gary when he laughs at things he did and why
Mel and Gary I saw this park on another UA-cam family that might interest you guys. John F. Kennedy Park, 375 Hatchery Rd. Heber Springs , Ar. 72543 I don't how far that is from you guys. Love you guys
We call it a cabin, because the definition of cabin is "a small shelter or house, made of wood and situated in a wild or remote area." - and when we are finished it will have the cabin esthetic on the inside and outside. Youll see.
You guys need to ignore those people and keep doing what you doing and if they don't want to watch they cannot watch you guys are doing a great job😊

Gary I hope you get that buck out there in the woods and I really hope you get it man Good luck
Mel I saw on a channel I watch and she put tongue and groove on her floors but her dad also has a business cutting his own trees down oh wow Mel I didn’t know that you could put anything on your house not having to deal with the inspection and building what you wanted but I know Gary is going to make sure it’s all right

It's interesting what you can at the resale places. Defiantly learning that you can eventually get everything you need.
Michigan certain counties they have alot of codes some areas not so much. Gary goes over the top and always knows what the codes are. He done alot of research before he even started. Great job ❤❤
Love you guys!!!😊🎉❤
Glad you found what you want for the mud room. Sounds good. Have a productive day. ✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Weatherman is wrong…. Go for it. 😊
A fun walk for the kidos would be searching and taking pictures of mushrooms. Research and see if they are edible.
Sending love n respect from Malaysia ❤❤❤❤❤

💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛💚💛
Y'all are TRULY a pioneer family and it reinforces my belief in the greatness of the USA!
Mel and Gary I saw this park on another UA-cam family that might interest you guys. John F. Kennedy Park, 375 Hatchery Rd. Heber Springs , Ar. 72543 I don't how far that is from you guys. Love you guys
I WAS WANDERING WHY DO YOU CALL IT A CABIN, ISN;T THAT PART OF YOUR HOUSE?
