Nobody likes to defend the position. We always love to keep our pieces active, attack our opponent, and win the game. At the same time, our opponents love to do the same just as well. Therefore, you have to be ready to successfully defend (or counter-attack) when your opponent tries to attack you.
In this video lesson, Angelos Kesaris explains 3 important rules to successfully defend a position. They are:
1. Bring your queen to the defense
2. Play actively, try to counterattack
3. Look for tactics to simplify the position

Be2 is the best move
In the final puzzle 1. ...Be2! looks like the best move to me. Solves all problems Black may have and removes all White´s threat-possibilities because White can´t ignore this bishop´s threat to his queen.
Prophylactic is used a lot!! Like a lot a lot. This was a very good video with a lot of useful info! Thank you.
Thank you sir; I appreciate your motivation words! Cheers up :D

@@jaylorgarido4911 can you express yourselt with some words?
For final puzzle what about rg8?
4:41 couldn't black have played Rxg2 instead of Qh6 here?
Hey very intresting question! I think that White can exchnage queens and then start pushing his a-pawn, am I right? :D
No. It won't work because of 1...Rxg2 2.Qxg5 Rxg5 3.a6 and Black has to give up his knight for the a-pawn.
@@ChessStrike good comment; bravo!
Knights are very weak if a rook pawn is ready to promote
@@ekanshgoel8442 It's sound like a Rule of Thumb! Thanks for this useful advice! :D
So for the puzzle at the end, Nf6 to put pressure on the queen and if White takes then Qf6 to give king space to move from discovered check?
Hey man I saw your solution , I honestly think that Kf7 is one of the saving moves as well as Qc7
After Qxb6 why is is that black cannot reply Qxd6 instead of Qxb6?
Sorry. I meant Qxb5
@@kangsoonlim779 In minute sir?
@Washington Cascades thanks for you motivating words!! After qxd6 the bb7 is unprotected as well, right? 😇😁🙏
@Washington Cascades you are very good and you can improve even more! It was a complicated position...
@Washington Cascades the Bishop on b7 falls
At minute 14:18 of the game, black can easily checkmate with the move Rh1#
Black King is in check.

Thanks for watching and comment! ;-)
That's what I'm thinking. Do you see anything else?
@@indigomontoya1970 This is good enough! ;-)
Be2 ?
You are rocking! Thanks for your comment and watching :D
Very informative, but a bit too fast to follow easily.
Thanks for the comment! Indeed I was talking too fast; you might see the video again. Please also notice that this is an advance video; you might want to see other videos that I created for new players ;-)
Thanks for the reply, very much appreciated. I'm certainly no novice, just not a fast listener. 🙂
I was rated 1530 (if memory serves) before I realized I would never be any damn good at it and gave it up, decades ago. I'm doing this now for my daughter, who is fascinated by the game and not burdened by any of my illusions. 🙂
4:15 , why not to play Rh3 instead of playing Rh4
thought of it too but then i saw Qf4 Qf4 Bh3 and with Ra1 behind a5 it's not so simple and I think black will be the one struggling to draw.
@
B vinay ratna Thanks for your comment and question; this is a very intresting line! @Bora is right; White can sacrifice his queen...
