Fantastic tutorial. Huge possibilities via assigns. Thanks to you I am able to tweak tones as per my liking. Earlier i used the ctl1 only to toggle the OD/drives, placed before clean amps like the natural clean and jcm 120. Now via assigns I can toggle between set of parameters!
Hi there. Thanks for your comment and kind words, I greatly appreciate them! Exactly, that's the optimal way of using the Assigns. I really love how the Assigns are working, and the almost endless possibilities they offer. Enjoy, and rock on. Let me know if you need anything else. Best regards.
@@GuitarNTabs Thanks for the tutorials. I am facing a small niggle. The 3 knobs changes values automatically, or becomes super sensitive/non responsive with slighest of touch or by its own. Could it be oxidation/carbon formation of the knobs/pots. I observed this after updating to the latest Jan 2021 updates. BOSS should update its firmware and should include modulation/delay/reverb in the FX1/FX2 block, and other delay/reverbs sims, this way we could create ambient patch. Right now, the Tera echo is the only delay/reverb capable of ambient shimmer like effects. Moreover Tera echo behaves more like a lush wet reverb rather than a delay. BOSS should include Polyphonic Harmony Delay (like the overtone, its polyphonic) and Shimmer/Particle verb like effects. Line 6 listens to their customers and frequently updates their units.
Thank you for this. I've been tearing my hair out in frustration trying to get the FS-7 to work with my GT-1 (double press problem). Who would have thought the switch would need to be on latch, but the function on moment? I'd never have thought of that! Cheers, Ian.
Great video! You should write the manuals for Boss... There is nothing included in their manuals that can even think about dreaming of coming anywhere close to this!
Thank you, I really appreciate it! Sadly you're right, and it's a real shame... So much potential to unlock! Let me know if you need anything else. Best regards.
Once again a very nice video earlier today I commented on your other video about assigns and actually you cover it all in this video so well done friend and thank you very much
Hey again, ChoatMusic! :-) Thanks - I'm pleased to hear that, really! Niice, that's great to know! Let me know if you have further questions. Best regards.
Thanks for your helpful video. How to turn on the loop function with only CTL1 instead of UP+CTL1? Can’t find loop function to assign. Please help. Thanks
Hello there, Fariz. You're very welcome, I appreciate your comment and question. The Loop function can't be assigned, sadly enough, it has to be activated via the UP+CTL1. Have a look in the Parameter Guide for the GT-1, found on Boss' webpage. On page 17 you can see all available assigns for the footswitches. I hope this helps, Let me know if you need anything else. Merry Christmas 🎄
@@GuitarNTabs Ah too bad. It’s such a hassle during live session to step on both button to activate the loop function. Thank you anyway. Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
@@jonpaghiz - I hear you, and that's true.. Stepping on two footswitches, at the same time, isn't easy... You're very welcome. Let me know if you need anything else. Thank you, I really appreciate it. 😊 Cheers.
Man I appreciate this so much. I’m having an issue with the GT-1, when I modify a patch and then save, some other patches are modified with the same CTL or Exp configuration.. it drives me crazy, I think it’s a software bug You should set up a venmo or something for people to give back for all your work.
Hi there! Sorry for the late reply! I really appreciate your kind comments and the kind words! Do you still have that issue, or did you update the unit? Hehe, maybe I should, we'll see, but thanks, I will keep that in mind. Cheers.
From the 'Assign' menu's, under the 'Source' options, there are choices for 'Wave Pedal' and 'Internal Pedal'. The manual doesn't give a very good instruction on their usage (imhop).
Hello there, pls could you do a video showing how to use the drop a pitch down a tone o a half tone on gt1 just for play a fewer song and than back to normal again without the need to re-tune the guitar.
Hey there, Zizu 😊 Thanks for your comment, and request, I appreciate it. Normally I have to separate guitars for such occasions, but I see your point. I will add it to my list, and see what I can come up with! Thanks Have a great day Cheers.
Hi! Don’t mean to intrude, but I tried that, and, imho, the sound gets so artificial that I solved this need by tuning a whole step down and using a capo. It’s much easier, organic and cost-effective than tweaking electronically the sound. I have even tried to use that fancy pedal (now I can’t remember its name/brand) that is said to tune down or up the guitar; but even with a dedicated tool like that, it sounded like a badly-recorded, artificial, and out-of-tuning synthesizer from the beginning of times 😂😂😂. I hope it helps! Cheers!
Hi! Can you do a video on using a FS-7 switch to use for CTL2 and 3 so we can have use of 4 total controls of a signal chain...to go for EX from Clean, to Marshall then to add ctl2 for turning on more than ctl 3 for different sounds...this way it’s like having a full pedal board set up differently for user presets thanks
Hello there, @Mark Stander 😊 Thank you for your comment and request - I appreciate it! Sure, I can do that, no problem! Do you want to do this in the Preset Mode, or in Manual Mode - where every single footswitch can be assigned to a specific effect/parameter? Let me know. Looking forward to hear from you, Mark. Regards 😊
Thanks for explaining assigns. I was cinfused with its n manuels weren't helping, great To start looping we need to press ctl1 and up switch together. its difficult when its hand operated(i keep gt1 on a table besides my mixer for convenience) . is there anyway we can assign it to a sigle button or can i assign loop start to exernal pedal switch? thanks
Hey there. Thank you for your comment and question, I appreciate it! Right off the bat I can't remember, but I will certainly take a look at it tomorrow! I'll get back to you, so stay tuned! Let me know if you need anything else, I'd be happy to help. Have a nice day. Cheers.
@Navaskj karim - I have checked it now, and you can't assign the Looper function to one footswitch/pedal.. The Looper is only activated when the two footswitches are pressed... Sadly enough. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers.
Hi.. Thanks for the valuable video. Can I assign the pedal function? Right now it only acts as a volume control of the current effect. Let's say I want it to gradually increase the speed of the tremolo.
Hey there, Omar. Thanks for your question and comment, I appreciate it. Yes, what you're asking is possible. But, let me ask you this, do you need that for some particular song, or? I might be better to simply assign some controls to the Tremolo, in order to get the speed you want. Cheers.
Well, it's more of a general question. The pedal is quite dynamic since you can control the level of things, all the other controls are just on/off. I used the tremolo as a good example, and since I am normally recording , using a DAW, it would have been nice to sync the tremolo with my project BMP, but there is no way to sync the pedal from an external source, so I thought a pedal would be good to achieve some sync. But of course you can use the pedal to control other things like preamp level, OD/DS level, etc, without having to bend down and reach for the knobs (if this is possible of course).
Thank you these videos are great. Is it possible to have a patch with both slowgear and the octive pedal active.. I would like to make a patch to make a violin/cello sound. Thank you again.
Thanks a lot! I was asking the same thing about the assigns ;-) Anyway I don't think I will use them at the moment but at least I know what is this! I could not understand from the manual. Thanks for your clear explanation!!
Hey there! I hope you still answer because since i am willing to buy a GT1B (i play bass yes, pls no hate) i have a huge question: can you like replicate the "Dunlop JCT95 Justin Chancellor Cry Baby Wah" sort of? I mean like can you assign both the Wah and the Fuzz at the expression pedal so when the pedal is idle the signal is completely clean but when moving it the signal starts going fuzz and wah together?
Hello Nico. Thanks for your comment and question, I greatly appreciate it. I'm always around to answer questions, no worries. No hate on the bass-players, the GT-1B is a great unit as well, that's for sure. There're several options, on the GT-1B, when it comes to Wah. For example, there's the T. Wah (Touch Wah) in the FX1 and FX2 block, but you also have a selection of other wah-types, found in the PDL-block. If you want to, then you can have a look in the Parameter Guide for the GT-1B, where all the wah-types are listed. I'll provide the link here: www.zikinf.com/manuels/boss-gt-1b-parameter-guide-sound-list-en-70160.pdf Have a look at Page 12, where it says Pedal FX. There's also a fuzz effect on the GT-1B, along with several overdrive and distortion type effects, and by using the Assigns, you should indeed be able to get a combination like that, especially when using the Expression pedal. I hope this helps. If not then please let me know, I'd be happy to assist. Best regards.
@@GuitarNTabs Thanks for all thr information! For the specific i need to make those sounds: " ua-cam.com/video/CqNmYNV88Us/v-deo.html " sounds that starts at 4:05 and the sound that starts at 11:05. If those are doable I'll buy this GT1B in no time. Thanks for your time :)
Hello there, I am sorry for the late reply... Sadly the looper can't be assigned, other than to the default two footswitches.. I know the struggle.. Merry Christmas 🎄
Thanks for all your GT 1 posts. I was wondering if you could post a tutorial that shows the whole process of creating complex patch for scratch? This could include several assigns to CTl and multiple mods on Ctl as well possible extra foot switch...etc... So in other words a gig/song worthy patch that has additional parameters for solo and maybe even intro or outro. Thanks for you help on this and other topics.
Hey there, Ramzi. Thank you very much for that excellent request - I truly appreciate it. I'd be happy to put a tutorial like that together, no problem! I'll see what I can come up with. Thanks for the kind words as well - my pleasure! Let me know if you need anything else! Stay tuned, Ramzi. Have a great day Cheers.
Do you have some video about the different settings or things that you can try or change with the pedal. Example different kinds of wah wahs or just volumen. How activate it and stuff.
Do you mean change with the CTL1 footswitch, or? If that's the case, then I believe I have some videos about something similar. Try to check out the Boss GT-1 assign videos I've made and uploaded to my channel. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers.
Hey! Great video! My gt 1 assigns do not work.. i already check the latest version (1.08) and i did pretty much the same as you do in your video but my assigns are not working... any idea on how to fix it?
Well... I tryied to do the same assigns as on the vidio but is just not working... Last night i tried to assign a Dly to an Od but dly is not turning on even when i already assigned

I have a patch with clean then hit CTL1 for distortion, on my clean I have chorus and delay on my distortion I have delay but no chorus I used assign 2 to turn down my delay for the distortion - after hitting CTL1. Is that the correct way? It works but I want to make sure. Thanks!
Hey there, Pulse2AM 😊 Thank you for your comment and question! Well, if it works, and the assign is taking out the effects you don't need, then yes, it's working. Anything else you're wondering about, regarding this? Cheers.
Hey there, Chris. It is possible, and you would simply do it by changing the placement of the two patches, so that they would be right after each other. For example, patch number 4 would be saved on its original position, number 4, and patch number 36 would simply be saved on patch spot number 5. Go to patch number 36, then press both the ENTER and EXIT buttons and press WRITE. Then select the location for patch 36 - which you wanted to be number 5, in order to have the two patches right beside each other. That should be it. I hope this helps. Have a great weekend! Cheers.
Hey there. I have recorded a video about this, I just need to edit it, but maybe I can have it uploaded later tonight - I'll see what I can do :-) I'm sure that video will answer most of your questions, so subscribe and make sure to stay tuned for the video :-) I hope this helps. Cheers.
Hi there, I really appreciate your videos thankyou but I still am having a problem assigning a boost for solo's to my CTL1 switch on a patch. I followed your instructions and it works fine - until I turn the GT-1 off, then when I go to use it next I find the assign for the CTL1 switch hasn't been saved and it reverts back to its default for the patch?
Thank you for the help it’s hard to find good tutorials about the GT1 that people actually respond to the questions haha! One more thing, I love using the loop pedal but I’m not sure if I can use the CTL1 as a stomp box to turn the over drive on while looping. Everytime I step on it all it does is overdub whatever I’m recording
Hey there, Nick. Thank you for the kind words - I appreciate it. Well, I'm always here to comment and reply to questions, so just fire away :-) So you want to start out clean, record a loop that way, and then engage the overdrive? Is that correct? Hmm, I'm not a big looper fan, so haven't used it much, sadly.. But I seem to believe that you can apply effects to the loops or atleast when you jam along to them.. :-) Maybe the good people at Boss could help you out, if you send them an email.. I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but the looper isn't really me.. All other things I can be more helpful with ;-) Have a great day, Nick Cheers.
GuitarNTabs thanks again for being so responsive man it’s awesome I think this is my final question haha! I’m not really sure how to assign the wah to a patch it seems pretty confusing
Nice, you are more than welcome - fire away, man! Haha, there's no such thing as a final question ;-) Hmm, I believe the EXP is already set, by default, to be acting as a wah. Have you tried to activate the EXP? Cheers, man!
Hey, thanks for the video! Could you please help me to understand what PrA solo and OD solo are on this unit? Are they different effects? What's the difference between preamp and preamp solo / od/ds and od/ds solo? Thank you!
Hey there, Vladimir :-) Thank you very much for your comment and question - I appreciate it :-) I've recorded a video about your question, and I'll upload it as soon as possible, so subscribe to be updated with new videos :-) The video will explain all the differences and what you're looking for :-) I hope it will help - if not, then feel free to contact me afterwards :-) Stay tuned & Cheers.
Thank you so much for this clarifying and enlightening tutorial! Just a question: Are the assigns 1 through 6 as well as CT1, 2 and 3 PER PATCH? Meaning, for each of the 99 user patches you have 3 CTs and 6 ASSIGNS free to use? Thanks again!
Hi there, Luis. Thanks for your comment and question! I greatly appreciate it. Yes, they are all per patch, so you have plenty of opportunities in regards to assigns and CTLs. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Have a great day.
Hi, your videos are really informative and are helping me to get the most from my GT1. I bought a Boss SY1 recently which has strings and organ sounds. Is there a way to program the GT1 to have a strings sound?
Hi there, Thank you, I greatly appreciate your kind words. There are one or two Factory Presets, I can't remember what they're called, but I'm sure that if you go through the Factory Preset selection, you'll find them. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers.
Thanks for you tutorial. I need your help - can you explain me fhe following features: MEMORY EDIT: MASTER SETTING MST: BPM? KEY? MID FREQ? MID Q? Than you in advance. Greetings.
Hey there, Robert 😊 Thank you for your comment and questions. I'm sure most of it can be found in the Owner's Manual, but I'll gladly explain. MEMORY EDIT: Pressing the MEMORY EDIT-button will take you into the signal chain, where all your effects/parameters and Preamps/Cabinets will be. Along with all of the Assigns and similar controls. The MST (Master Setting) menu will be there as well, as an icon, and that has the features of BPM, KEY, etc. which can be adjusted, to correspond to that particular patch. That will be the same for all the patches. The BPM is the tempo for that particular patch - for example, matching a tempo from a specific song. Once the Master BPM is set, in the MST-menu, you can match delays, chorus, tremolo, or other time-based effects to that BPM. Keeping the in sync. Most of the time-based effects has a sub-division category, when you scroll past the 0-100 adjustments. Here's what the Manual says about the MID Q: "Adjusts the width of the area affcted by the EQ centered at the MASTER MID FREQ. Higher values will narrow the area" MID FREQ: "Specify the center of the frequency range that will be adjusted by the MASTER MID GAIN." You can find the GT-1 Parameter Guide, on Boss' webpage, and it will have many useful explanations 😊 I hope this helps, if not, then let me know Best regards Cheers.
I have a question. There are many effects in the fx1 and fx2 functions. But what if i want to use a third effect from the fx function? I mean, is it not possible to use chorus, compressor, and tone modulation all at the same time?
Hey there, Satyaki Das 😊 Thanks for your comment and question. Yes, there are many effects in both FX1 and FX2, but you can only use one effect, from each, at the same time. So you can't have, as you ask, the chorus, compressor and tone modulator, not at the same time... You can have one effect from FX1 and one from FX2. However, by using the Assigns, you can change between effects from both FX1 and FX2. So, for example, if you already have the chorus on, from FX1, but want to change the chorus to the compressor, then you should simply set up an Assign to change from the chorus to the compressor, and so one. That way you can have a little more versatility. The same applies for FX2. I hope this helps. Cheers.
One thing I found very interesting stepping down for a bigger boss unit to be more Mobile on the bigger boss units you have to save things you might say every step of the way well with this once you choose it it seems like it automatically saves it. In other words there's no master save button once you select it and back out it seems to be saved
That's not true, you have to save your adjustments, just like on the other Boss units. The GT-1 has no auto-save. You press the Enter and Exit button, at the same time, and this will open up the Write menu. All your adjustments will be lost, if not saved. I hope this helps. Cheers.
these videos have been a great help to me and tons others. Thanks! could you please explain how can we set (Tap) delay live at any tempo. i hope you get my problem
Thank you very much, Shorya Bisht - I really appreciate that! Do you mean a tap tempo assign that you can use on a patch, and the tap it for different beats per minute?? Cheers :-)
yes sir! suppose we're playing a song at the tempo of 90 bpm and i want the delay to be set according to that it gives that perfect echo type feel. but can it be done instantaneously as bpm will vary from song to song. i hope you'll be my saviour! thanks
Hey again :-) Yes, if you have different patches, and you need different delays and delay times, then you would simply set up the delay bpm in those different patches - depending on the different bpm values. If you want to have a delay bpm tap, within one patches, so you simply can tap the bpm with your foot, simply select the Bpm tap for the delay, in the assign menu :-) I hope this helps - if not, then please let me know. We can easily solve this :-) Cheers.
Wow your videos are very helpful. I wanna ask something if you dont mind. I already know that the GT1 sounds great live when hooked straight into the PA. But does it still sound great when used in front of the amp? I hope you can come up with a demo on this if you have the time. Again thank you so much. God bless you
Greetings, Timothy 😊 Thanks for your comment and question - I really appreciate it! I'm pleased to hear that you've found them helpful! The GT-1 does sound great in front of an amplifier, no problem. It will just have to be set-up a little differently. The Output Select would be set to match the type of amplifier you're using - whether that's a combo amp, stack amp or perhaps a Roland JC-120 amp. Next you would turn OFF the GT-1's onboard PREAMP-block, because you won't need that, since you're already plugged into an amplifier. From there it's all a matter of getting the amplifier set-up, to sound the way you want it to, and then make sure that the effects you add, from the GT-1, is leveled out with the level of the amplifier. Just listen for any drop or increase when the effect activates. Sure, I'd be happy to make a video on that subject, I'll add it to the list - thanks! Let me know if you need anything else! Best regards & God bless!
GuitarNTabs thanks for the reply man. But what if i want to use the GT1’s preamps but i dont have a PA during live gigs? Will connecting it to an amp’s effects loop have the same effect as if youre connecting it straight inyo the PA? Thank you
@@timmthelion - Hey there 😊 Thanks for getting back, Timothy! Exactly as you write - that would be the way to do it. If your amp, or the given amp on stage, has an effects loop, then the effects loop return will be the place to connect the GT-1's left output. Doing so will disable the external amplifier's preamp section and then leave the power amp section running (the speaker) and that will allow you to still use the GT-1's onboard preamp models. Just remember to switch the Output Select from Line/Phones to either Combo Amp Return, Stack Return or JC-120 Return, depending on the type of amp being used. I hope this makes sense. Please let me know if you have further questions or issues. Best regards.
On some of the settings, I see "Level+10" or "Level-10". Could you please demo how these settings work? Pretty sure they alter the overall level of the preamp, but I can't seem to get them to work the way I want. Perhaps I'm not using it right. So yes, I'd like to see you demo those.
Hi - sorry for the late reply. These settings will bump up the volume level by 10, or lower the volume level by 10. That's pretty much it. I haven't really found that useful, since I either use an OD/DS solo boost, preamp Solo boost or EQ level boost. How do you wish to use them? Cheers.
I had no clue how to use the assigns so this helps a lot. I will have to try it and I bookmarked the video to watch again . I don't understand the CT2 and CT3, there is only a switch for CT1 (and an up and down) so how are they accessed? Is this on another video? thanks.
Hello, Whole Witt. I'm glad that my video helped you out :-) The CTL1 is the onboard footswitch but the CTL2 and CTL3 can be accessed by connecting a Boss FS-7 footswitch - then you can use CTL2 and CTL3 to get more assigns :-) I'll make another video, these next days, to show how to set up the CTL2 and CTL3 :-) Hope this helps - if not, then let me know! Cheers!
I saw the extra footswitch in another video then realized that was for CT2 and 3. I wanted to try the A & B footswitch that came with my Blackstar ID Core 100 amp but it uses a standard TS cable, not stereo, so I don't think it would work for the GT-1. Not a big problem for me anyway. thanks, ...Ron
About this A1 to 6. Can I use, for example, 1-2-3 to change something about pre-amps. And the 4 to change something about the delay, and 5 to change something else. it will work just by pressing the ct1. ? Thanks man.
You can do all that, yes. You can have A1, A2 and A3 to change some pre-amp parameters, for example if you've assigned it to the CTL1 footswitch. Then you can have A4 and A5 to do some other things - activate effects, etc. and if you wish to have all that done on just the CTL1, then that's fine. It will work just by pressing the CTL1, yes. If you add another footswitch, like the FS-6 and FS-7, then you can use the CTL2 and CTL3 as well :-) I hope this helps. Cheers.
Great stuff! So, anytime you make any changes to any parameters throughout the signal chain, do you always have to press edit and enter at the same time to rewrite and save those changes? I didn’t see you doing that here, but I assumed that was it. Thank you! 👍🏻🎸
Hi, I wonder if you can help? Hard to articulate what i mean. I used the GT-6 in the past, and am used to being able to navigate through banks of patches while playing on a specific patch, and then tap 1,2,3 or 4 to engage the patch. This is great when playing live, as you can pre-prepare by navigating to a bank and stomp it to engage it at the exact time. Whereas with the GT1, you can either go up or down patches one at a time. Is there a way to navigate to a patch without engaging it, then tap it again to engage it?
Hey there, modern :-) Thanks for your question. Okay, I see what you mean, even though I'm not that familiar with the GT-1. The GT-1 only features the UP & DOWN switches, so you won't have the option to do the same as you did on the GT-6... Sadly enough.. Depending on what you need, and what you use, then perhaps you could take advantage of the Assigns, and then simply assign some effects/parameters to do somewhat the same as on the GT-6 :-) Let me know what you think. Best regards.
I am only looking into Gt-1 again because my main pedal died and I need a cheap replacement but, also something somewhat familiar. I had a gt-1 previously and could not for the life of me figure out how to get multiple things assigned to CTRL1. I called and emailed boss for help and in the end I ditched it because I thought that extra button was only assignable to a single parameter. Too bad boss couldn’t have just shown me this back then or I would have never gotten rid of it!
Hi there, Thanks for your comment. You won't go wrong with the GT-1, I can promise you that! Well, please explain to me, what you want to have assigned to the CTL1? Then I'd be more than happy to help you out. Sadly Boss' customer service isn't all that great, sometimes... Let me know, and I'd be happy to help you out. Best regards.
Would it not be simpler if you could press down the switch, configure it how you want, save the configuration? At this point you can have 2 different patches next to each other with vastly different parameters and that can be a toggle switch
Hi mate - thanks for doing these videos - is there any way to save/store individual presets to the up / down and ctl1 buttons? I want 5 individual preamps with fs7 switch Up = clean Down = crunch Crl1 = Solo A = acoustic B = clean + chorus Thanks in advance Chris
Hey there, Chris :-) Thanks for your kind words and comment - I really appreciate it. No, you can't store certain patches to the two switches (UP & DOWN), but you can arrange the patches, so they will come right after each other. So using the UP switch will let you scroll through the patches, since they're now in order :-) Perhaps you could also combine it all, into one patch, or maybe two patches, if that's possible for you. Of course it depends on how many assigns you'll need to make it work. Let me try and lay it out here, and you can correct me: Start by setting up the Clean sound you want, then use one of the assigns to assign the chorus effect to whatever footswitch suits you best. Then use another assign to switch the preamp, from clean to crunch, and use another assign to activate either the PrA Solo or OD Solo feature, for your solo sound. Then you could have the acoustic patch on a different patch, to keep it a little easier. What do you think of that? Let me know. Cheers.
Thanks for replying Champ - you really need to be on the Boss payroll - seriously. The manual is not much use, same with boss tech support. You’ve answered my simple question. It’s strange that the up down button let you choose preamp - but can’t assign. I’ve sorted it out now. A million thanks mate, hope tons of good Karma comes your way! Cheers Chris
Hey there! Sorry for my late reply, but I'm very happy that you made it all work out! Thanks for your kind words, I truly appreciate it! Just waiting for Boss to reach out.. any day now :-P Rock on! And feel free to get in touch if you ever need further help, Chris :-) Best regards.
You're welcome :-) What exactly do you need the CTL2 and CTL3 to do, in terms of the Looper? Would you be able to explain it again - that would help me :-) Cheers!
I’m having a problem with the Assigns that I can’t solve. I have a Crunch overdrive set on my main channel and when I step on the CTL1 button it changes to a fuzz pedal. That’s fine but what should I have my CTL1 pedal set to in the Edit section. I don’t want it to change anything but I have to set it to something. I already have everything on so, for example, if I set it to Delay it turns it off when I don’t want it to. What should I set my CTL1 edit to when I don’t actually want it to change anything apart from what I have set up in the Assign edits? Hope that makes sense.
Hi there, No, there's only one OD/DS effect block, however, if you want to switch between different OD/DS models, then use the Assigns, and use the TYPE parameter, within the Assign, that way you can have the T-Scream on at first, for example, and then later change to the Clean Boost, for example. I hope this helps. Best regards.
Is there an easy way to set the ctl 1 and ctl 2 to use the same FX1? Not on same time, but independently? So the setup is like this: Up =delay Down = pitchshifter Ctl1 = chorus (fx1) Ctl2 = tremolo (fx2) Ctl3 = flanger (fx1) I Solved everything but 1) cannot get ctl1 and ctl3 to change separately? The ctl3 activates the fx1 = chorus on ctl1... 2) and the Down I use for delay tap tempo because of the same problem... it only activates either the fx1, fx2 or the delay...
Actually use this on my Moog Subsequent 37 synth! Phaser, reverb and delay sound great. Need to experiment with distortion and overdrive, it will be fun.
Hey Mike :-) Thanks for your comment! That's cool - guess it sounds great, man! :-) Yeah, take a look at the overdrives and distortions - they are great sounding! Cheers mate!
I have a Q. I have one patch, in that specific one, when I use the pedal to put the volumen down or up, it doesn’t work!!! How can i set up the pedal to work just for volumen. The other ones they work fine, I don’t know what’s happening with this one. With other i try to put the wah wah and it doesn’t change anything, even though says that wah it’s activaded. Thanks
Hmm, that seems strange.. I would try and Initialize that particular patch. Press both the ENTER and EXIT-buttons, at the same time, and select the INITIALIZE-icon and press ENTER. Then try and set the patch up again.. It might be a flaw in that particular patch :-) Also, make sure that your unit is installed/updated with the latest update. I hope this helps. Cheers.
Hello, how can I adjust different volume levels on my preset? The clean tone is too quiet and DS one is too loud. When I edit the volume, it sets the same level for both of them. Thanks
Hey there - great question! This is a broad topic, but I will share some tips - listen carefully. The first place to start would be to have a "Target Level", which is your overall level, and this "Target Level" is the one that you level match all remaining effects/preamps to. I generally take my clean sound, as my "Target Level", and match that with my Overdrive/Distortion patches, etc. Another thing, when it comes to Overdrive and Distortion.. It's important to keep an eye on the Gain knob, because uncontrolled gain-stages will really ruin a decent sound... Whenever you activate an OD/DS pedal, listen for any increase or drop in volume, and then adjust the effect's output level. It's important to level out each effect, instead of just using the Patch Level parameter or anything else.. If the effects and preamps aren't matched with each other, then things will never match up and sound as intended. I hope this helps, but please let me know if you have any issues or further questions. Best regards.
I have watched this video over and over. I have checked my settings again and again, but all the control switch does is turn the effect on and off. All I want to do is switch the limiter level from 25 to 65, it just will not work.I tried controlling something else but again all I get is on and off. It's driving me crazy.
Hey there, Rendy. Yes, yes we could, that would be no peoblem. I would just suggest doin it this way, using the assigns, because that allows you to have it all within one patch - which is much easier :-) But your method can be just as good - it just needs to be set up :-) Let me know what you think. Best regards Cheers.
Hi Mike. Thanks for your comment and great question. The Assigns can either be set per patch, where you have different Assigns on different patches, or Global, where the Assigns stay the same on every patch - these settings can be changed in the MENU screen. I have my Assigns set per patch, so I can have different Assigns on different patches. I find that easier, because the effects I Assign always change - depending on the song and artist. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else. All the best.
Can I assign patches to external pedal instead of just parameters?? For example can I have a lead tone assigned to one pedal and then an ambient tone to another?
Hey there. Thanks for your comment and question. The short question is no, you can't assign individual patches to individual pedals. However, you can basically have those patches you are talking about, all within one single patch - by using the assigns available. You would simply have to set-up the sound you want to start off with - whether that's the ambient sound or the lead - that's up to you, but when that is done, then you would just have to assign the effects/parameters you want to activate, using a pedal, and that will take you from the ambient sound to the lead tone. I do most of my patches that way.. It allows me to have many different sounds, all within one single patch, which is great! I hope this makes sense. Let me know. Best regards.
GuitarNTabs so awesome of you replying thanks! How do I go about it? What if I want a drive, lead and ambient patch? How can I set that up to use easily live instead of scrolling through patches?
You are very welcome - it's my pleasure to help out :-) Well, I would do it this way: 1. Start by setting up the Ambient patch first. I believe it would have a clean preamp, some reverb, chorus, etc. 2. Once the Ambient sound is set-up, then I would make use of the assigns. I you need a drive pedal, then I would press the MEMORY EDIT button, then head to the CTL1-icon, press ENTER and scroll through the options, until you see OD/DS. Then make sure the OD/DS will be toggled ON/OFF. Now you have the OD/DS assigned to the CTL1 pedal. If you wish to assign more to the CTL1, then move to the next available assign (A1 to A6). 3. For a lead boost I would simply assign the OD SOLO option to either the CTL2 or CTL3 - given that you have connected an external footswitch, like the FS-6 or FS-7 from Boss - that will allow you to spread out the different assigns - making it all easier to figure out and control. 4. That would basically be it. There should be nothing more to it, other than some final tweaking, to get it sounding right :-) I hope this makes sense. If not, then let me know, and we'll figure it out! Best regards.
Hello there, Neil! Happy New Year, and sorry for the late reply.. I've been behind on these comments... The Assigns can be set up to both, actually.. Depending on what you're after. There's a global setting for them. You have a total of 8 Assigns, per patch, so you can have as many different assigns, on different patches, as you want. That'sthe beauty of this thing! I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything else! Best regards.
Happy New Year to you too. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me, its much appreciated. Your videos have been a great help. Boss should employ you.
@@neilh4729 - Hey again! Thank you - and you're very welcome! I try to get to all comments, and help out as good as I can. Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! I surely wouldn't mind that... Boss, are you there?! 😉 Let me know if you need anything. All the best.
Do you know if it is possible to change the CTL1 function in loop mod to use an external CTL 2 or 3 pedal? I would like to be able to control the loop function with pedal sitting on my desk so I can adjust effect parameters.
Hey J Bran :-) Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it! You can change the function of CTL1 to almost whatever you need :-) Just select the effect/parameter found in the assign-menu. Press the MEMORY EDIT-button and scroll to the very last of the chain, there you should see the icon labeled "CT1". Press ENTER and there you can adjust the setting :-) You can also connect a Boss FS-6 or FS-7 and get two extra footswitches, where you can also assign different effects and parameters to! I hope this helps - otherwise let me know :-) Cheers!
Hey there, Conner. This is because the CTL1 is already programmed for that particular patch. You can Initialize the patch, press both the ENTER and EXIT buttons and select INIT and press WRITE, and start from scratch, or go to the CTL menu, to see what the CTL1 is set to do, and then disable it, or change it, to what you need it to do. I hope this helps! Best regards.
this is a great tutorial, very clearly explained - but this is almost making me want to NOT buy the GT-1... do you find this assign set-up limiting? It's already losing the dual amp configuration, which was one of my favorite features of the GT-100... Should I still buy it? I can't afford the Gt-1000/ :0(
Heey there! :-) Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment and question. I'm pleased that you find my tutorial clear and well explained - thanks! Sorry to hear that it makes you want NOT to buy the GT-1.. That's not the goal here.. I love the assigns, and the possibilities it opens up for, and they are in no way limiting - trust me. You can have this little treasure doing almost anything for you, with the press of ONE button, if you wish to! You can also choose to layout different effects, etc. on separate buttons too :-) I haven't missed the Dual Amp feature, really... The sound and quality of the preamps and cabinets are still superb and great sounding. I use the GT-1 straight into my band's PA, for every gig, and the sound is fantastic! I use it in stereo as well, and that makes all the difference, oh boy! The effects are top notch, just like you would expect from Boss. I would still buy it, honestly. I'm convinced you'll love it anyway :-) The GT-1000 looks promising, but yes, it's quite expensive... I hope this helps you, but feel free to ask futher questions, if you need it. Have a great weekend. Best regards & Cheers.
GuitarNTabs Thanks so much for the reply, you have eased my mind. I stress over these things so much, I will literally lose sleep over it! My wife says relax, if you don't like it(whatever 'it' is), you can always return it. Just how I am, I guess... I will buy the GT-1. Thank you again!
Hey there, again! Sorry for the late reply! I'm glad I was able to help you out! Don't worry, I feel the exact same way, whenever I'm getting in to new gear or can't make certain effects/parameters work, hehe :-D It just means that you're trying to make the right decision ;-) I hope you've gotten the GT-1, man! It's a great piece of gear, truly! Let me know how it goes! Cheers.
The procedure in the video should apply to other effects, etc. so by following the video, you should be able to make it work.. Try again - I'm sure it will work!
Actually you can, yes. You can activate up to a total of 6 individual effects/parameters with the CTL1 and the assigns. So if you want the CTL1 to turn on the FX1, FX2 and delay, then you can easily do that, by setting it up via the assigns :-) If you add an extra footswitch, like the Boss FS-7, then you get two extra footswitches - CTL2 and CTL3 - and you can then use those for other assigns as well - within the total of 6 assigns :-) Hope this helps :-) Cheers!
Hey James! Excellent question... Yes, it's possible to Assign multiple effects to just one CTL switch. On each patch you have a total of 8 available Assigns, this means that you can lay out the Assigns as you want. For example, have three Assigns for CTL1, two assigns for CTL2 and maybe four assigns for CTL3. I hope this helps. Cheers.
Thanks for your comment, Jason :-) I hope you're enjoying your GT-1! Right off the bat I can't remember, since I'm not with my GT-1 at the moment.. You could check it by going to the CTL1-assign menu or any of the 6 assigns (A1-A6) and see if you get options to assign the looper features :-) Sorry about the late reply, anyway, I hope this helps. If not, then let me know. Cheers.
Hey man how do you even save patches that you change like settings for the preamp and stuff? Everytime I plug it out the patch just goes back to default hope you’re still using the GT1!
Hey there, Nick. Thanks for your question. Sure, I'm still using the GT-1 - almost every day! ;-) In order to save patches, and for the GT-1 to properly save them, then you must ensure that you are using the User Presets, and not the Factory Presets. You can change the Factory Presets, but not save them and their changes. But you can do that with the User Presets. The User Presets, which you can fully change and save, are displayed with a U before the name of the patch. Then make your changes and adjustments and press both the EXIT and ENTER-buttons, at the same time, and press enter to save the patch. I hope this helps. If not, then please let me know. Best regards Cheers.
Yes, in the FX1/FX2 effects-section you can find the Harmonist, Pitch Shifter and Octave effects, and that should do it :-) Play around with the different options and see what happens :-) I hope this helps. Cheers.
Hey there, Dante 😊 No, there's only one input for an extra footswitch, like the FS-7. That input can be either an extra exp pedal or an extra FS-7. I hope this helps.

Hello there, Fariz.
You're very welcome, I appreciate your comment and question.
The Loop function can't be assigned, sadly enough, it has to be activated via the UP+CTL1.

On page 17 you can see all available assigns for the footswitches.

Hi Berg, Can you do a tutorial on how to assign, and use, the 'Internal Pedal' and the 'Wave Pedal' features?
Hey Tim!
Nice to hear from you! Hope you're doing well :-)
Hmm, by the internal pedal, do you then mean the EXP pedal?
Cheers, mate :-)
From the 'Assign' menu's, under the 'Source' options, there are choices for 'Wave Pedal' and 'Internal Pedal'. The manual doesn't give a very good instruction on their usage (imhop).
Aah, I see!

Hello there, pls could you do a video showing how to use the drop a pitch down a tone o a half tone on gt1 just for play a fewer song and than back to normal again without the need to re-tune the guitar.

Thanks for your comment, and request, I appreciate it.
Normally I have to separate guitars for such occasions, but I see your point.
I will add it to my list, and see what I can come up with!
Thanks

Cheers!
Hi! Can you do a video on using a FS-7 switch to use for CTL2 and 3 so we can have use of 4 total controls of a signal chain...to go for EX from Clean, to Marshall then to add ctl2 for turning on more than ctl 3 for different sounds...this way it’s like having a full pedal board set up differently for user presets
thanks
Hello there, @Mark Stander 😊

@Navaskj karim - I have checked it now, and you can't assign the Looper function to one footswitch/pedal.. The Looper is only activated when the two footswitches are pressed... Sadly enough.

Hi,
You can use both FX1 and FX2 for each effect, so that should be possible, yes.
I hope this helps, and sorry for the late reply.
Cheers.
Thanks a lot! I was asking the same thing about the assigns ;-)
Anyway I don't think I will use them at the moment but at least I know what is this! I could not understand from the manual. Thanks for your clear explanation!!
You're welcome! I'm glad that you found it helpful!
It's a nice little thing to know, and it can come in handy at some point! ;-)
Thanks & Cheers! :-)
I'll provide the link here:
www.zikinf.com/manuels/boss-gt-1b-parameter-guide-sound-list-en-70160.pdf
Have a look at Page 12, where it says Pedal FX.

Hi can you please explain how to switch for instance from effect number 4 to number 36 with one press only and vice versa...if it is possible.
Thanks
Hey there, Chris.
It is possible, and you would simply do it by changing the placement of the two patches, so that they would be right after each other. For example, patch number 4 would be saved on its original position, number 4, and patch number 36 would simply be saved on patch spot number 5.
Go to patch number 36, then press both the ENTER and EXIT buttons and press WRITE.
Then select the location for patch 36 - which you wanted to be number 5, in order to have the two patches right beside each other.
That should be it.

Thanks for asking that, I was also wondering.
Hi, your videos are really informative and are helping me to get the most from my GT1. I bought a Boss SY1 recently which has strings and organ sounds. Is there a way to program the GT1 to have a strings sound?
Hi there,
Thank you, I greatly appreciate your kind words.
There are one or two Factory Presets, I can't remember what they're called, but I'm sure that if you go through the Factory Preset selection, you'll find them.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if you need anything else.
Cheers.
@GuitarNTabs thanks for your prompt reply. I'll go through them again, although I have tried a few times. Keep up the good work
Thanks for you tutorial.
I need your help - can you explain me fhe following features:
MEMORY EDIT:
MASTER SETTING MST:
BPM?
KEY?
MID FREQ?
MID Q?
Than you in advance.
Greetings.
Hey there, Robert 😊
Thank you for your comment and questions.
I'm sure most of it can be found in the Owner's Manual, but I'll gladly explain.
MEMORY EDIT:
Pressing the MEMORY EDIT-button will take you into the signal chain, where all your effects/parameters and Preamps/Cabinets will be.
Here's what the Manual says about the MID Q:
"Adjusts the width of the area affcted
by the EQ centered at the MASTER MID FREQ. Higher values will narrow the area"
MID FREQ:
"Specify the center of the frequency
range that will be adjusted by the
MASTER MID GAIN."
You can find the GT-1 Parameter Guide, on Boss' webpage, and it will have many useful explanations 😊
I hope this helps, if not, then let me know
Best regards
Cheers.
Thank you my best!
Helped.
Until next time ;)

I have a question.
There are many effects in the fx1 and fx2 functions. But what if i want to use a third effect from the fx function?
I mean, is it not possible to use chorus, compressor, and tone modulation all at the same time?
Hey there, Satyaki Das 😊
Thanks for your comment and question.
Cheers.
@@GuitarNTabs Yup, completely cleared my doubt. Thank you so much. ❤️
@@satyakidas7045 - That's fantastic! I'm pleased to hear that!
Enjoy, and rock on!
Cheers.
@@GuitarNTabs thank you it does help and I have since figured that out nonetheless great videos and I appreciate your education
these videos have been a great help to me and tons others. Thanks! could you please explain how can we set (Tap) delay live at any tempo. i hope you get my problem
Thank you very much, Shorya Bisht - I really appreciate that!
Do you mean a tap tempo assign that you can use on a patch, and the tap it for different beats per minute??
Cheers :-)
yes sir! suppose we're playing a song at the tempo of 90 bpm and i want the delay to be set according to that it gives that perfect echo type feel. but can it be done instantaneously as bpm will vary from song to song. i hope you'll be my saviour! thanks
Hey again :-)
Yes, if you have different patches, and you need different delays and delay times, then you would simply set up the delay bpm in those different patches - depending on the different bpm values.
If you want to have a delay bpm tap, within one patches, so you simply can tap the bpm with your foot, simply select the Bpm tap for the delay, in the assign menu :-)
I hope this helps - if not, then please let me know.
We can easily solve this :-)
Cheers.
Wow your videos are very helpful. I wanna ask something if you dont mind. I already know that the GT1 sounds great live when hooked straight into the PA. But does it still sound great when used in front of the amp?
I hope you can come up with a demo on this if you have the time. Again thank you so much. God bless you
Greetings, Timothy 😊
Thanks for your comment and question - I really appreciate it!
Thank you
@@timmthelion - Hey there 😊
Thanks for getting back, Timothy!
I'm glad that my video helped you out :-)
The CTL1 is the onboard footswitch but the CTL2 and CTL3 can be accessed by connecting a Boss FS-7 footswitch - then you can use CTL2 and CTL3 to get more assigns :-)
I'll make another video, these next days, to show how to set up the CTL2 and CTL3 :-)
Hope this helps - if not, then let me know!
I see, great to hear, Ron :-)
No, that wouldn't work properly. The FS-6 or FS-7 would be a good option.
Thanks & Cheers!
Hey !! Can you have 2 overdrive effects simultaneously ?? Like a rat and fuzz ?
If you add another footswitch, like the FS-6 and FS-7, then you can use the CTL2 and CTL3 as well :-)
I hope this helps.
Cheers.
Great stuff! So, anytime you make any changes to any parameters throughout the signal chain, do you always have to press edit and enter at the same time to rewrite and save those changes? I didn’t see you doing that here, but I assumed that was it.
Thank you! 👍🏻🎸
Hello, Parra.
Every time you make an adjustment, it needs to be saved, otherwise it won't be stored.
I hope this helps.
Hey there, modern :-)
Thanks for your question.
Okay, I see what you mean, even though I'm not that familiar with the GT-1.
The GT-1 only features the UP & DOWN switches, so you won't have the option to do the same as you did on the GT-6...
Sadly enough..
Depending on what you need, and what you use, then perhaps you could take advantage of the Assigns, and then simply assign some effects/parameters to do somewhat the same as on the GT-6 :-)
Let me know what you think.
Hi there,
Thanks for your comment.
Hi Nick.
Perhaps it would, yes, but I don't think it's that hard as it is right now.
Did you have anything in mind?
All the best.
Could you do a vid on how to set up a wash effect please

Thanks for your comment and question - but.. What exactly do you mean by "wash effect"?

Hi mate - thanks for doing these videos - is there any way to save/store individual presets to the up / down and ctl1 buttons?
I want 5 individual preamps with fs7 switch
Up = clean
Down = crunch
Crl1 = Solo
A = acoustic
B = clean + chorus
Thanks in advance
Chris
Hey there, Chris :-)
Thanks for your kind words and comment - I really appreciate it.
No, you can't store certain patches to the two switches (UP & DOWN), but you can arrange the patches, so they will come right after each other. So using the UP switch will let you scroll through the patches, since they're now in order :-)
Perhaps you could also combine it all, into one patch, or maybe two patches, if that's possible for you. Of course it depends on how many assigns you'll need to make it work.
Let me try and lay it out here, and you can correct me:
Start by setting up the Clean sound you want, then use one of the assigns to assign the chorus effect to whatever footswitch suits you best.

Thanks for the response. I still cant see how the loop control function can be reassigned to CTL2 or 3?
You're welcome :-)
What exactly do you need the CTL2 and CTL3 to do, in terms of the Looper?
Would you be able to explain it again - that would help me :-)

I’m having a problem with the Assigns that I can’t solve. I have a Crunch overdrive set on my main channel and when I step on the CTL1 button it changes to a fuzz pedal. That’s fine but what should I have my CTL1 pedal set to in the Edit section. I don’t want it to change anything but I have to set it to something. I already have everything on so, for example, if I set it to Delay it turns it off when I don’t want it to. What should I set my CTL1 edit to when I don’t actually want it to change anything apart from what I have set up in the Assign edits? Hope that makes sense.
Hi.
Hmm, I'm not really sure I understand your question, sorry...
Can you explain it in other words?
Cheers.
hey bro, thank you for this tutorial, Just quick question, Is there any possible to assign OD to CTL1 then DS to CTL 2?
Hi there,
No, there's only one OD/DS effect block, however, if you want to switch between different OD/DS models, then use the Assigns, and use the TYPE parameter, within the Assign, that way you can have the T-Scream on at first, for example, and then later change to the Clean Boost, for example.
I hope this helps.
Best regards.
Is there an easy way to set the ctl 1 and ctl 2 to use the same FX1? Not on same time, but independently? So the setup is like this:
Up =delay
Down = pitchshifter
Ctl1 = chorus (fx1)
Ctl2 = tremolo (fx2)
Ctl3 = flanger (fx1)
I Solved everything but
1) cannot get ctl1 and ctl3 to change separately?
The ctl3 activates the fx1 = chorus on ctl1...
2) and the Down I use for delay tap tempo because of the same problem... it only activates either the fx1, fx2 or the delay...
Actually use this on my Moog Subsequent 37 synth!
Phaser, reverb and delay sound great.
Need to experiment with distortion and overdrive, it will be fun.
Hey Mike :-)
Thanks for your comment!
That's cool - guess it sounds great, man! :-)
Yeah, take a look at the overdrives and distortions - they are great sounding!
Cheers mate!
Thinking of adding a cheap guitar, any suggestions around €300?
Cool!
What type are you looking for?
Tele, Strat or Les Paul?
Cheers!
For rock and blues maybe a Les Paul?
Yeah, a Les Paul would be good for that, no doubt! :-)
It might be worth looking at some of the Epiphones.
It might be a flaw in that particular patch :-)
Also, make sure that your unit is installed/updated with the latest update.
I hope this helps.

Thank you very much man!Its very useful! Thanks!!!!
Thanks, man! I appreciate your kind words!
Enjoy the GT-1 and rock on!

I have watched this video over and over. I have checked my settings again and again, but all the control switch does is turn the effect on and off. Could we achieve the same goal by saving two settings as different patch, and save the patch adjacently so we could use the up and down pedal?
Hey there, Rendy.
Yes, yes we could, that would be no peoblem.
I would just suggest doin it this way, using the assigns, because that allows you to have it all within one patch - which is much easier :-)
But your method can be just as good - it just needs to be set up :-)
Let me know what you think.
Best regards
Cheers.
Do you make assigns and program CTL functions per patch or will they do the same things regardless of the patch you’re using
How about using EXP 1 ( Pedal as a Volume Pedal)
The EXP1 is the onboard expression pedal and it acts like a volume pedal by default?
I'm not sure what you mean? :-)
You are very welcome - it's my pleasure to help out :-)
Well, I would do it this way:
There should be nothing more to it, other than some final tweaking, to get it sounding right :-)
I hope this makes sense.
If not, then let me know, and we'll figure it out!
Best regards.
Hi, are the assigns patch specific or global? Could I set up a completely different set of assigns on CTL1 for different patches?
Hello there, Neil!
Happy New Year, and sorry for the late reply.. I've been behind on these comments...
The Assigns can be set up to both, actually.. Depending on what you're after. There's a global setting for them.
You have a total of 8 Assigns, per patch, so you can have as many different assigns, on different patches, as you want.
That'sthe beauty of this thing!

Do you know if it is possible to change the CTL1 function in loop mod to use an external CTL 2 or 3 pedal? I would like to be able to control the loop function with pedal sitting on my desk so I can adjust effect parameters.
Hey J Bran :-)
Thanks for your comment, I appreciate it!
You can change the function of CTL1 to almost whatever you need :-) Just select the effect/parameter found in the assign-menu. Press the MEMORY EDIT-button and scroll to the very last of the chain, there you should see the icon labeled "CT1". Press ENTER and there you can adjust the setting :-)
You can also connect a Boss FS-6 or FS-7 and get two extra footswitches, where you can also assign different effects and parameters to!
I hope this helps - otherwise let me know :-)

What do I do if it automatically turns the CTL1 pedal on when I switch to a certain patch?
Hey there, Conner.
This is because the CTL1 is already programmed for that particular patch. You can Initialize the patch, press both the ENTER and EXIT buttons and select INIT and press WRITE, and start from scratch, or go to the CTL menu, to see what the CTL1 is set to do, and then disable it, or change it, to what you need it to do.
I hope this helps!

this is a great tutorial, very clearly explained - but this is almost making me want to NOT buy the GT-1... do you find this assign set-up limiting? It's already losing the dual amp configuration, which was one of my favorite features of the GT-100... Should I still buy it? I can't afford the Gt-1000/ :0(
Heey there! :-)
Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment and question.
You can also choose to layout different effects, etc. on separate buttons too :-)
I haven't missed the Dual Amp feature, really...
I'm convinced you'll love it anyway :-)
The GT-1000 looks promising, but yes, it's quite expensive...
I hope this helps you, but feel free to ask futher questions, if you need it.
Have a great weekend.

Don't worry, I feel the exact same way, whenever I'm getting in to new gear or can't make certain effects/parameters work, hehe :-D It just means that you're trying to make the right decision ;-)
I hope you've gotten the GT-1, man! It's a great piece of gear, truly!
Let me know how it goes!
Cheers.
I followed the same steps, but after assigning it's not working. I have OD set on CTL 1 menu.
The procedure in the video should apply to other effects, etc. so by following the video, you should be able to make it work..
Try again - I'm sure it will work!
so you cant activate for example FX1, FX2 and DELAY with the CTL1 ?? only one effect?
Actually you can, yes. You can activate up to a total of 6 individual effects/parameters with the CTL1 and the assigns. So if you want the CTL1 to turn on the FX1, FX2 and delay, then you can easily do that, by setting it up via the assigns :-)
If you add an extra footswitch, like the Boss FS-7, then you get two extra footswitches - CTL2 and CTL3 - and you can then use those for other assigns as well - within the total of 6 assigns :-)
Hope this helps :-)
Cheers!
Just wondering. Is it possible to assign 2 effects to one ctl1 switch or do I need an external footswitch.
Cheers.
@@GuitarNTabs Very helpful thank you.
@@james6234 - No problem at all!

Are you able to control the looper with an external footswitch?
Thanks for your comment, Jason :-)
I hope you're enjoying your GT-1!
Right off the bat I can't remember, since I'm not with my GT-1 at the moment..
You could check it by going to the CTL1-assign menu or any of the 6 assigns (A1-A6) and see if you get options to assign the looper features :-)

I need to know how to make the dispaly bigger!!
Press the Enter-button while being on the main screen - that will do it.
I hope this helps.
Hey man how do you even save patches that you change like settings for the preamp and stuff? Everytime I plug it out the patch just goes back to default hope you’re still using the GT1!
Hey there, Nick.
Thanks for your question.
Sure, I'm still using the GT-1 - almost every day! ;-)
In order to save patches, and for the GT-1 to properly save them, then you must ensure that you are using the User Presets, and not the Factory Presets.
Best regards
Cheers.
❤thanks
Thank YOU for watching!
Cheers.
is it available detune settings with gt1? thanks
Yes, in the FX1/FX2 effects-section you can find the Harmonist, Pitch Shifter and Octave effects, and that should do it :-)
Play around with the different options and see what happens :-)
I hope this helps.
Cheers.
What I want to do is .... set the gt1 unit on my desk and use ctl2 and ctl3 pedal set on the floor to control the loop functions.
Alright, I follow :-)
I'm not with my GT-1 right now, but I'll check it once I have it near me!
Stay tuned!
Cheers!
how did you do it can you share with me , thank you
How did I do it? Well, it's pretty much in the video?? I'm not sure what you're talking about...
Cheers.
Can I use 2 boss fs7 and assign 4 different patches at the same time?
Hey there, Dante 😊
No, there's only one input for an extra footswitch, like the FS-7. That input can be either an extra exp pedal or an extra FS-7.
I hope this helps.
GuitarNTabs can I assign another patch to the expression pedal and have an external volume pedal?
@@plug-jayrmorales3155 - Patches can't be assigned, I'm afraid...
So that's not an option.
WOW. Thanks
Thank you, JRD, for watching my video!
Let me know if you need anything.
Cheers.

Quindi si possono fare un sacco di funzioni con questa piccola bestiolina?
Yes, the GT-1 is a capable and versatile unit, especially when using the Assigns.

Hello,
Let me know if you need any assistance, I'd be happy to help.
If not, and you're not interested in the GT-1, then I can't see the relevance of your comments.
Have a good day.
