I guess I’m not prepared to judge it as a full game because it’s…early access? Where it is right now is already wonderful and I think it can only get better.
Honestly, Mistria really doesn't seem like an early access game, as other than only having one seasonal event so far, it plays like a full release. It reminds me of the recent games Go-Go Town and Farm Together 2 in this respect. It's priced very reasonably, is VERY enjoyable, has few to no bugs, and a roadmap full of content. I agree with you that it's wonderful already! ♥
I love this game and have been playing it for hours on end when I can. At 4:14 though, they do give hints in conversations they have. Whenever the Saturday market comes around I know that they would say things like “I love the coffee Merri makes.” Which is from Balor, it comes up in highlighted text. (Correct me if I’m wrong in the Balor part but I know Errol says he loved the latte art which means he likes the lattes)Small things like that. Though I can be hard to tell since they interact with the world well like when you donate items they’d comment on it.
Ooh, great tip! I hadn't noticed them dropping specific hints like that (I probably raced through the dialogue too fast). I need to start taking notes I guess! 😁
@@BuckeyeBunnyNo I definitely get it! I sometimes rush through things also which is how I came up on this video. Watching others reviews helps see things I might have missed. But I love the vid anyways! Keep up the work!❤

I love this mechanic, similar to some old harvest moon games where you have to pay attention to the dialogues to find out what they like. Tedious at times yes, but very immersive and immersion can go a long way in making cozy games cozier. I hate it when every bit of information is provided in the UI, like how did i learn about this and that?
Im REALLY keeping an eye on this game, it seems like everything I liked about Stardew, but less tedious, and the characters are more colorful. I really hope this game does well!
Same! It's SO worth the $14 IMO! Although, I do wonder...now that I discovered how enjoyable Mistria is after getting through the initial low-level grind, I do wonder if I might like Stardew if I just pushed through the beginning gameplay. 🤔
@@BuckeyeBunny imo stardew really starts to shine in the mid to late game, after you unlock certain community bundles. For fast players they can reach that point as early as year 1 summer, but on average people get there during fall or winter. Year 2 is when things start to get really fun. So yeah, it takes a bit to get through those early game growing pains. Also, if you're into modding, some people have created whole new areas on the map to explore that also add a lot. To be honest, the modding scene is the main thing making stardew so enjoyable to me.
Completly agree on everything and mostly on the Time Adjustment Slider feature! This game is already awesome, but the time slider would make it so much better since we would be able to add "relaxing" to the long list of wonderful qualities of the game. Also, thank you for the video, I didn't know the channel before seing it.
I'm glad someone else agrees with this. 😊 I know a lot of people won't play games like Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon because the sense of time brings pressure and a rushed sense to the game. This simple change would sprinkle even more chill vibes into Mistria. ♥
Heads up You get more stamina as you level up your town, via stamina enhancing potions that are permanant. Your stamina bar (once you hit that level 50 cap for Early Access so far, doubles your beginning stamina! which is great!)
Yes! I just received a stamina potion yesterday, and it definitely helps!! Players just have to patiently wade through the slow initial start (which was my main problem because I'm super impatient, lol). 😋
The big plus for me is the fact that I can buy stuff at any time. Next one: items stay on the ground, so I can pick them up later, when I have more space in the backpack (are there more upgrades? I'd like to have two or three more tabs :( ). The other thing is that it is pretty tiny. If you've seen "Sun Haven" then you'll know what I mean.
Yes! When my inventory is full, I just harvest extra items and leave them scattered about. It looks messy but is a nice way to still get everything eventually. Oh, and I believe after the general store is upgraded, you can buy more inventory slots. (I just need two more iron bars and I'll upgrade and confirm this.) I've never played Sun Haven...maybe I should?!
@@BuckeyeBunny It's nice not to run to the farm to leave stuff ;) I think I've completed every quest from the board, if that's so, then no more easy money.
I agree with the innovation problem. Once it's out of early access I'm 100% buying for the aesthetic and feminine style, but in terms of unique gameplay, I can't say I've seen any of that in the farming genre.
The stamina improves the more you play. Improving skills, getting the silver weapons (as they are the max in early access) and by improving the town's rank. There's also the spell that refills the stamina and health points
Indeed the stamina improves greatly after a while...it's the slow grind at the beginning along with hurried time that nearly made me quit. I'm glad I persevered, as it's much more fun now. ♥
@BuckeyeBunny Actually what I mean for an update if you could darken or lighten the color of your hair, skin, and eyes in a way like you can darken or lighten your hair and eye color in Stardew Valley.
The fishing is brilliant. I know that the vast majority of people, especially very casual players dislike Stardew Valleys implementation of fishing. If you have very little experience in gaming, it can be very difficult. If you are experienced, it is probably too easy and repetitve/boring. In my opinion this game tackled fishing very well. It is more interactive, since you have to actively seek the fish out by moving around the map and casting your fishing rod near the fish. You are then prompted to move somewhere else once you score a catch. This is miles better than the monotone system of Stardew, where you simply cast your rod as far as possible and wait for a bite. Then recast into the same spot once you catch the fish.
Excellent review! I haven’t played it yet and this helped me decide to buy! It definitely seems worth the money. Also, I saw on another video that the other villagers do give you hints about what gifts other villagers like so you don’t have to do just trial and error. Idk how easy it is to get the dialogue since I haven’t actually played yet lol but that’s what I heard
You're correct. With the help of other viewers, I realized that on occasion, such as during the Saturday festival, some characters will drop hints about gifts...but there doesn't appear to be a way to record these hints unless you keep notes. But still, it's something! ♥
Just discovered your channel and really enjoy your content! You have a very pleasant and mature demeanor compared to the usual Gen Zers who typically cover this space 😅😊
I suppose this comes down to semantics and subjective interpretation, but I always consider settings and options that adjust the gameplay to better match the player's abilities or assist with disabilities as "accessibility" or "adaptability." I just think Mistria needs more options in this regard, though I still REALLY like it as it is. ♥
@BuckeyeBunny I'm fully prepared for there to be a spell like the stamina/health recovery spell that extends the day/resets the clock by a couple hours tbh. That can come in clutch if you forget to give a birthday present or for anything else you'd want to do. This would make the most sense to me
Great video! I disagree with your point about stamina adjustment, though, as you build it as you play the game. Having that would take away the challenging element of the game! I'm so used to Stardew Valley and being able to do so much in a day that I find myself trying to replicate that in Fields of Mistria, too, but I think the point is that you can take things slower and not everything has to be done in one day! The stamina could be a tad bit higher at the start though, lol.
Valid point, and as I'm late-game with much higher stamina, it is no longer an issue. I do still wish for the days to go slower though. That curfew comes way too quickly. :)
Mistria DOES make you aim the bobber right at the fish, especially before you unlock fishing perks and a better rod, but yeah...it's pretty simple and I love it, but it won't likely appeal to those who like a challenge. 😊
You deserve more subs. Subscribed. I think perhaps if you'd widen your niche a bit, you could definitely grow faster (that's if you want to. maybe you're super comfy doing exactly what you're doing). Good luck.

Coral Island is beautiful, but I too lost interest, and I can't exactly pinpoint why. I've put way more time into Fields of Mistria than Coral Island, and I think it's because Mistria just seems more manageable to me. I do think it's worth at least trying for 1.5 hours and refunding if it's not your style (though be warned, it starts off a little grindy but gets better as you unlock perks). Plus, Mistria is half the price of Coral Island. 😊
What defines a Stardew Valley knockoff exactly? Stardew Valley is a knockoff of Harvest Moon. Stardew Valley did not define the genre... I remember when it first came out I was so disinterested because it was just another Harvest Moon 2.0.
@KanariRingo I agree that stardew valley didn't define the genre, but it definitely reinvigorated it. I wouldn't say that SDV is a knock-off of Harvest Moon. I would say that SDV is an IMPROVEMENT on Harvest Moon. Harvest moon (at least the one I played) wasn't a bad game, but the controls and UI were clunky, and I remember being confused and frustrated that I couldn't progress.
I think its an inherently unfair question to ask, to be honest. Fields of Mistria hasn't even been fully released yet, and Stardew Valley received an update that added an entirely new area four years after it was published. We won't know if Fields of Mistria is as good as Stardew Valley until it's had the chance to have eight years of updates.
It's really rough at the game's beginning, before extended stamina is earned/unlocked through upgrading the town. If you think it's fine, that's great...I was merely stating my opinion in this video.
I agree...they COULD have charged more and it would still sell, but I guess that's the beauty of an indie studio; they have fewer people to support through the game. ❤️
I mean they tell you SOME hints, but it's not much. I like guys who don't play games. Like, "Woman, brew me a zesty latte as hot as you and I'll be yours." You know, very direct. 😂
I don’t agree with the stamina comment, most farm sims have challenges with stamina so that you go to bed and progress through the year. This just sounds like you don’t know much about the farm sim genre. You missed that there are multiple pots for stamina across the maps, free daily soup at the inn. The bath house and 5 free full stamina refills. The magic stamina refill every 4 days. If there wasn’t the stamina bar the game would feel cheated.
I'm simply saying that the stamina drain is excessive at the beginning of the game to the point that players might stop playing and give up. Every farm sim game is different (and yes, I've played MANY over the past decades) in terms of stamina depletion and how quickly potential skill perks can be earned to alleviate this issue. I just wanted to share my honest thoughts about the stamina and wish for a way to adjust this in the beginning of the game. Even Palworld has this option...it just helps more people enjoy the game. But, we can of course agree to disagree on this point. 😊
Get rid of Stamina, replace it with mana and you have a unqiue system right there. Bring in magic earlier and get rid of the tedious elements of farming and focus on letting the player set their own pace
I wish one of these games would have a more serious combat side for those who want it... Just have a low key summoner option for those who don't want to engage... I mean we normally get a single button attack and no evade or parry, it doesn't need to add much
Mistria does a ton of things better, but Stardew is still a way better package for now, it'll depend on how far Mistria devs will add to the game, it's hard to compare an early access game that was just released with a game that was released full and got tons of free content added along the years.
It’s early access. To me it feels pointless to compare an early access game to a game that’s been out for like 8 years and has had a bunch of content updates and bug fixes in that time.
your Wishlist is horrendous, especially the time bar or the stamina bar, I understand you want a easier game, but that would be a setting you would define on the creation of your save and not in the middle of your gameplay, but as you said in the end of the video, you cant maintain focus for dear life.
Clearly we share differing viewpoints, and for some reason you felt the need to insult me instead of tactfully stating your opinion. Thank you for your kindness. ♥ Oh, and by the way - Palworld has TONS of sliders that can be adjusted at any time on a save (daytime speed, nighttime speed, stamina, damage from and to player, etc), so clearly it's possible.

I’ve found this easier to play to be honest.
@@LilMorphineAnnie pretty much. Fields of Mistria is way too empty as for now compared to games like Stardew Valley. But it has good potential.
Was guna buy it till i found out this game does bra1 n washing so pass
your Wishlist is horrendous, especially the time bar or the stamina bar, I understand you want a easier game, but that would be a setting you would define on the creation of your save and not in the middle of your gameplay, but as you said in the end of the video, you cant maintain focus for dear life.
Clearly we share differing viewpoints, and for some reason you felt the need to insult me instead of tactfully stating your opinion. Thank you for your kindness. ♥
Oh, and by the way - Palworld has TONS of sliders that can be adjusted at any time on a save (daytime speed, nighttime speed, stamina, damage from and to player, etc), so clearly it's possible.
@@BuckeyeBunny but this isn't palword.... and also they're being sued by nintendo
Can you have KIDS tho?
Not yet and you can't date yet either but it's on the roadmap. With the amount of effort gone into dialogue so far, I'm so excited to see it
I can't WAIT for this. Olric and I are gonna have a dozen at least. 😉
Copy of Stardew Valley??
Definitely similar but a good amount of differences too (and prettier IMO). 😊
@@BuckeyeBunny really? I'll have a go! What are the differences?
ummm, no, a copy of Harvest Moon if anything
