Real Tottenham fans do not need to apologise for a few mindless idiots. The main issue is with the football club. They need to end the chaos outside the ground that happens at every North London Derby. I love the rivalry between the two sets of fans but the club has a responsibility to try and keep away fans safe when they visit WHL. At the moment there is no organisation and every year there is trouble. The chaos outside the ground means that a small minority of fans feel like they're free to hurl missiles, punch kids wearing colours and hurl vile and sometimes racist abuse. Most Spurs fans I met yesterday were great and I have respect for every true fan of their club.

Robbie, I went to Tottenham a few years ago, not even for the football but I was near white hart lane. I am a Chelsea fan and when I was in my car spurs fans tried to intimidate me and my brother when we where young we where scared a lot. I do think the security needs to be improved around that area.

I've actually worked in hospitality at Tottenham for the same fixture last year against Arsenal, on the 5th March. On the stroke of half time Aaron Ramsey scored, and part of my job is to serve drinks and food. I kid you not, they were horrible. I'm an Arsenal fan but I never mentioned it for obvious reasons, and they abused me they way the did to Robbie today. Verbally and racially (I'm black). Haven't worked there since.

Today was very scary. It felt like something from the 70's and to be honest it is the last time I will go to Spurs. I honestly believe my age (60) would have made no difference if the Spurs fans could have got to me. I have never felt worried going to the Emirates and really makes you realise the difference between the 2 clubs - one which a very safe environment, the other where your personal security is in great danger.

Hi Robbie, I'm Spurs through and through and yesterday was the first home game I've missed this season. I've seen some of the videos of what happened afterwards and am gutted. It was a fantastic day for the team and the club and a minority do that, to a guy who in fairness has always been pretty respectful about other clubs - massive apologies on their behalf. The issue of away fans' safety is one that I've said about time and time again - after the West Ham game this year when we won late on, their fans were allowed to just wander onto Tottenham High Road before the FT whistle - no segregation or anything. That's the issue here - the racism is dreadful but hand on heart I can say that's the first time I've seen it from our fans. Enjoy the rest of the season, keep up what you're doing mate - Tom.
