Because that colonial mindset is still prevalent, which believes that these old-school clergy who are a product of the missionary churches of pre-independence days (e.g. Anglican/Catholic), have some kind of high moral authority. And the cycle continues: the more platforms they speak on, the more platforms they are invited to.

And nothing is going to shake him from his wilful blindness. And how come with the Margaret Dongo interview (also outdoors) you guys kept going round to film the back of her head, and you didn't do this here? Nor have you done it for other notable male guests. Seems like double standards 🤔

My brother, Zimbabwe has never been a democracy since 1980. It was the British who created a Shona Dynasty in 1980 .Zimbabwe is more like Swaziland a Shona Monarch. That is why Chamisa says Mugabe and Tswangirai anointed him to be Zimbabwe President. He is not lying, that how Monarches work.
And that's why all these politicians constantly speak of "ruling" the country, and not "leading" it 😞

Part of it is also that he grew up and was trained in that very traditional Roman Catholic culture, and as people now know from the revelations of under-age abuse, it was very good at brushing things under the carpet and not calling a spade a spade. He has probably been institutionalised not to say things as they are. And this makes it easier for him to navigate the kind of political and social circles he has access to. So he has no incentive to change.

We have to understand that Father’s thinking is typical Jesuit educated.
No wonder he was so tight with Mugabe. Even his manner of speaking is very similar.
Is this man blind? If he is indeed blind, metaphorically, does he see whats going on and is this not a waste of time having this conversation? I think its a waste of time, these are the beneficiaries of the current situation!!

I am sure the Fr needs civic education himself to be genuine and stop being evasive. He have no future as a nation with these people in positions like he holds. I am disappointed in him. You begin to wonder what the church stands for and their role in maintaining the status quo.
In simple terms the Fr has no sound argument.
It's just a diversionary tactic. He suggests a solution that is so niche that it is practically impossible to implement or to measure its impact. Zimbabweans have education coming out of their ears, but that doesn't address the problem of politics of the stomach.
