Smile on my face when I saw this pop up, need more content - crave more content - but don't skimp on quality. These videos are meditative without intentionally being a meditation video. Love them. Great job Rolf!
Whatever is going on in my life whenever one of your videos pops up it's both relaxing and stimulates thoughts about enjoying what's around me more . In all my trios to Sweden I have only ever once seen the black woodpecker but being in the woods or on the coast there I'd always something good to see . Thank you for another video.
Your observations are really great and in some magic way, its all flyfishing. Waiting for that take, open up our senses for all life going on around us and even in ourself. Iceland next summer? Tight lines bro, and keep it up. Luv ya thang!
Good to have you back Rolf and your thoughts are just as interesting as always. There is a lot i dont know about fungi but as a bachelor in biology my best bet is this: there is no obvious advantage or disadvantage for mushrooms being colorful, hence they range from the dullest of grayish brown to glowing bright colors. We often mistake ourselves when thinking a trait only evolves when resulting in a higher natural or sexual fitness for the organism, when really traits are bound to evolve at "random" (due to mutations, genetic drift etc) given that they dont affect the fitness of the organism at all. All the best!
Just beautiful. I love me a confused person walking through amazing colored forests and talking about things that matters. Much love from austria and be safe.
the clean cut of the trees are definitely for safety and also to not take everything away what belongs to nature. I also do that when a dead tree is in the forest. I really like your videos a lot! Wish you a beautiful rest of the year 🙏🏽
A perfect camp spot,,,,coffee...trout in the river...no people...your camera eye ... non-dead wood...mushrooms...so much on this earth to be grateful for and take care of...thanks for sharing
I like thinking that colors are created in a symbiosis between the species and its beholder. That evolution affects both how you appear to other species and how you see other species. That a reason some fungi appear red to us might be because somewhere in evolutionary history we benefited from being able to distinguish it, as much as it could be that it benefited from being seen by us. Or I guess it’s also possible that by changing to become more or less visible to some other species, a side effect that didn’t matter as much was that it became red to us 🤷♂️
I really enjoy your videos Colors- for same reasons as flowers- some to attract insects and other spore disperses. others to mimic poisonous mushrooms to avoid being eaten. Propagation and survival- a story repeated in all evolutionary history
I love how much you love nature! I’ve watched so many of your outstanding fishing videos but you in the forest with birds and fungus melts my heart. I needed this relaxing nature video in my life! Thank you! I also appreciate not wanting to see people.
Always looking forward to you’re video’s Rolf! And I know how you feel with the straight stumps on the trees.. looks weird but at least now they can leave the dead trees without there being a danger for the visitors to the park..
Entligen igen! ❤❤❤ Not even a minute in, and you already made my day ❤. Yesterday I had to put down my 16 1/2 yo dog (RIP Geza, best little friend ❤️) and today afternoon I brought him to cremation. Not the best last 36 hours. But your videos always are so peace giving, and brightening, that it was the best that could happen this evening! ❤ Tack så mycket! I love birding too, I live in sweden, but just since few years. In the beginning always when I saw a bird I wrote it up in my language and translated it into swedish, but than one summer I forgot, stopped and lost my list. In your birding videos, you could write in the swedish name of the birds you see, and we viewers could translate them into english, or our mother language. Would also be interesting, in how many countries the same species are living. Or are known.
I’ve started including coffee on my canoe fishing trips. It makes me stop the chase for a little while and think more about the world around me. I’ll usually pick a little pine point to rest and boil the water.
I have been busy for the last couple of months, but suddenly, while watching your video, Rolf, I realised how much I miss my time spent in the backcountry forest by the river. Thank you for reminding me of what's important for my well-being and mental health.
After a stressfull and long work day this was just what i needed. Its something special about relating to your thoughts as you walk around looking at things. That feeling you get when you enjoy something that your mind tells you to hate, i get that a lot.
I much appreciated your mumbling on the value of dead trees. I'm wanting to clear some dead trees on our property here in Montana but on the other hand it so clear how the woodpeckers love/need them.
the uncanny valley is shaking the world. will try the salt in coffee. get me ready for steelhead season on lake erie and ontario. your art is deep. keep up the fine effort
I always look forward to watching your videos! You are so good an explaining/portraying the feelings many of us get from being in special places in nature. Thanks for sharing your content as well as your ramblings that many of us think but can't/won't express! I enjoyed the video with a cup of coffee, but somehow, I'm sure it wasn't as good as the stuff you were drinking!
Becoming a life cycle .. fishing then birding then snowboarding and skateboarding indoor., then music and thinking of spring😊 love then all! I case of the woodpecker.. saw the 3 toe woodpecker in funasdalen this summer.. strange that you had so little water., everywhere we went the water was very high..
Here in southeast BC we have a reservoir that goes up and down every year. In the winter it has almost no water and it's quite barren, but it's a peaceful place with no one around. In the summer when it turns into a lake, it should be beautiful, but it's full of wakeboats and noise. These things are weird that way. Thank you for your nature content, it makes me want to go outside just for the sake of it, not just to bike or hunt or get exercise.
A delight as usual. I am grateful. I just came back from a 4 day visit to our cabin in Southern Dalarna and was fortunate to find (next to copious amounts of chantarelles and funnel chantarelles) yellowfoot (rödgul trumpetsvamp). First I just thought it was another funnel chantarelle but the fantastic bright colour of the foot of the mushroom stood out. I also do not know the reason for this delight of colour.
Speaking of forest, the need for dead wood etc, I must recommend the book "Skogslandet" by Lisa Röstlund. Especially for swedes since it's about the Swedish forestry industry (perhaps it's not even translated to english). We, and most countries, must change the way we look at and use these once magnificent ecosystems.
Old hippy here again,i used to make little wooden tittskap with every possible kind of mushrooms found in the swedish forest after drying them out, the shapes form and colour was like you froze the piece of nature for ever, which made me write this because some of tittskap collection i have left ,the COLOUR is as vibrant as the day i pickek them and they are 30 years old, mushrooms and colour rolf ,lets ask the wood faires they might know...lol
As a marine biologist, my guess is that mushroom colours try to communicate something to certain "predators" that might eat them. After all the mushroom is the reproductive organ of a fungi. If the mushroom is eaten, and the digestive tract of the species that ate it doesn't damage the mushroom spores, then further dispersal of the mushroom spores is achieved which is Evolutionary beneficial. However some colorful mushrooms are also toxic, indicating to potential predators that it should not be eaten (although certain species of animals might still be able to digest the mushroom).
"It just bees that way." That's what's said in certain city neighborhood in the States. "Bees" does not refer to the busy insect but a verb tense. Translation: An fungi color explanation is unnecessary. "It just bees that way." Some of the birds crawling circular around the trunks were "nuthatches."
I have a B.S. in Biology, and studied mushrooms some while in college. I am not a pro, but I have some information for you on mushroom colors. Generally they are to ward off predators, but in some mushrooms they are colored that way to actually attract insects to them. This way the insect gets covered in spores, and then spreads the spores around the surrounding areas. The physical mushroom that you see is only the reproductive portion of the mushroom. So it technically does not have to survive and could be eaten by a predator of the mushrooms. So attracting something to eat them could be another way to spread their spores. The mushrooms could grow in the fecal material of the animal miles away from its original source. Scientists don't know the full understanding of why they are colored the way they are though.
"I usually don't go to those kind of places, you might see people there..." now I know why I like you :D it's not just the fly fishing Today was a quite a sh*tty day and that was a real cure... great work Thank You
Glad to hear somebody else puts salt in their coffee. I'd thought it might be good and tried it about 2 years ago and haven't had coffee without it since, it's so much better! Got my girlfriend on the salt as well. And I only use pink sea salt from Utah, here in the US. 👌

Your videos are so welcome eagerly anticipated, stunning just stunning.
I’m a more relaxed man after watching, great work as always Rolf ❤
Beautiful little film. Even though there was no trout in the story there was still woodpeckers, mushrooms and coffee. Worthy subject matter.
i think i like you guys more then my own family lol. Do not ever stop filming and uploading. EVER.
I love the style of your videos. 🔝Special work, thank you. Greetings from austria.
sending thanks from Idaho

Visually great, poetic and without comparison to anything else. Thank you.
Thank you too!
"What a weird place ... I might meet people there." This must be the most swedish statement ever since Frontside Fly days. 🤣😁
Rolfs back! Wohooo from Tokyo hope you're well Rolf. All the best James.

I am really sent to paradise when I watch your movies.

Rolf posted a new video! LIFE IS GOOD!

Rolf, Happy Autumn! Heck, happy fall to everybody (in the northern hemisphere, anyway).
I like the Swedish parts as well, as long as there's subtitles so I can learn. I slept thru my Swedish classes.
Long time no see your video ❤ Love your video~ Thank you for your sharing~
Amazing
Endelig - Rolf er tilbake! Sårt etterlengtet. Må det bare komme mer...
Thank you !
Fantastic as usual!
A great video as usual Rolf! Looking forward to the next 7,981 films! Love from North Carolina. (or is it 7,980?)
Coming soon!

Visually stunning, Rolf! Can I be a proper camera dork and ask what body you're shooting on these days?
Thanks! Panasonic GH6.

great work
Thank You
Thanks! 🙏
Högstubbe is atleast better than regular stubbe!
A shame it’s not 5 hours long..
To baaflyfisher..its next lvel spiritual thing.....
I totally agree - the clean cuts, they don’t belong. It’s an oddly awful aesthetic.
dude, pretty soon seems like you start doing crochet...
Haha! Probably
Glad to hear somebody else puts salt in their coffee. I'd thought it might be good and tried it about 2 years ago and haven't had coffee without it since, it's so much better! Got my girlfriend on the salt as well. And I only use pink sea salt from Utah, here in the US. 👌
