It's always good to see what others are carrying and how they carry it. Well done.

i'm surprised i don't see more lockable motorcycle hardcases on the top rear racks of trikes. Mat Galat had one for his drone.

I had a hard case rear trunk on my first cross country trike trip in 2009, which was lockable. It was quite bulky, made of hard plastic, and heavier than bicycle trunks, so I sold it after the first trip. In its place, I bought an Arkel Tailrider rear rack trunk, which was much lighter and useful for my needs. I don't keep anything of value in my trunk or panniers when I am away from the trike, so I don't worry about being able to lock it all. In 15 years of riding and touring, no one yet has stolen from me, and since I don't have an expensive drone or electronic equipment like my friend Matt Galat carries, I have little to nothing to lose.

Steve, can you buy the 16L top rack pannier separately from Lone peak?
Steve, you should weigh everything of all your gear and panniers.
Not many tourists weigh all their gear.
Which I think is important to give yourself (as well as others) an idea of how much weight your carrying just in gear only.
Depending on the length of a tour, I'd say a total gear weight of 35lbs-55lbs.
I don't count food and water because those fluctuate throughout each and every day do to consumption and amount needed between distances.
    Great video

Yes, you can buy the Deluxe Rack Pack trunk by Lone Peak individually:
      lonepeakpacks.com/product/deluxe-expandable-rack-pack/
In recent videos I have told the weight of the pannier setup, and even with that, my gear remains under that 50 pound limit I impose upon myself, probably quite a bit less actually. The water is slightly shy of a half gallon, so probably comes in at 4 pounds, and food for me is very simple, so never a huge weight issue (except on my first trip in 2009, when I had 50 pounds of just food in my trailer because I was scared I'd come up short ... a great lesson in how fear guides us).

I have a fishing hanger weighing scale that I use to weigh each item or each pannier that is already loaded with gear.
I already bought the 16L Delux Expandable rack bag, after I commented previously.

@@The-GreenHornet I think you will like the Rack Pack trunk! I absolutely love it! I like that it is boxy in shape, which makes it better for me when arranging things inside ... compared to my trusty Arkel Tailrider trunk, which has five fewer liters in volume, and where items cannot be stood up neatly. Even though I have used the Tailrider for many years, and it has served me very well, I have now retired it in favor of the Rack Pack (my Tailrider is still in near-perfect condition, a testament to how well these bags all hold up over time).
