  • This is a video of my first run of a Enorossi Farm-Maxx 5' sickle bar mower. Designed for a sub-compact but I am trying it out on an L2501. Any tips would be helpful as I am new to running this implement. #Kubota #Enorossi #5elevendesignz #sicklebar

I also have the same sickle bar mower I use on a kubota bx25 to mow the side of a private road. I stared out with no rear remote or third function valve. Ended up plugging the hydraulic into the FEL valve that tilts the bucket down. That way the bucket does not tilt down while running and I can bring the mower up when needed. You could also adjust the three point to swing the mower more to right side so it mows past the rear tire and you don't have to get hit with as much brush. Now I have a third function valve and an extra switch mounted on the grab rail on the mowing side, because I was always leaning on that side and watching what was being mowed.

I just do not understand why anyone would buy a BX, sorry but I think they have horrible hydro controls. I have used them at the school district I retired from, and I hated them .

@@scrambler69-xk3kv It's because we probably don't know any better since we have not used anything else and we have limited amount of money. What do you suggest for the same money and same size?????

I have the same mower but a 7 ft. Use it to mow hay fields and pasture. Great mower.

I have the same sickle for my tractor, very interested in seeing how you set it up and use it for mowing and cleanup. Thanks for the video!

My pleasure. Interested to see your setup as well. Going to hook up some rear remotes in the next week or so. I will make another video after that is all set up.

That worked surprisingly well! I haven't seen a sickle mower used like that before. Did you notice any damage to the blades after you finished?

Not at all. It shows capacity to be about 1" if I remember correctly.

I'm considering an Enorossi to clip pasture fields. The online manual gives a 1-3/16" (3cm) minimum cutting height, and I assume that's using the lowest settings. I was wondering what the cutting height would be if you select the highest skid plate setting in under the bearings and highest sled setting out at the bar end.

Not really sure, but I believe the minimum may be more based on the distance from the bottom of the mower itself across the length of the bar.

I am concerned that you are not wearing good shoes to protect your feet, unless those shoes have safety toes!! Years ago I was hit in the back of my right heel by a quarter of a brick thrown from a rotary mower. My only injury was a good ‘sting’. I know that a sickle mower will not throw things like a rotary mower, but many other things can happen around machinery very quickly.
Also, watch reaching back toward the sickles, your hand could get pushed/pulled into the sickles.
In that upright position, all the debris piling up at the bottom of the sickle bar could get into the mechanism.
