Hronek is definitely 1.25 mill better than Myers was the last 6 years
I’m pretty happy with the signing. Definitely wanted the player, he’d have been extremely hard to replace. The term is a bit long, but if the cap keeps rising then the number stays good
Well, the term means we have him locked in at that amount until past his prime, and at 34, he won't be getting a raise from that $7.25 mil a year deal. he'll be in his decline by then and due for a pay cut to a veteran's salary of a guy who's there for his experience and has already cashed in on his performance as a 26 year old.
You get him from 26-34. That’s essentially his entire prime.
@@Starrynova and he probably re-signs after that for a lot less as he's in his reduced price aging veteran stage.
Hronek himself is one thing but Hughes also had his best season playing with Hronek. If Hronek can be a consistent 40-50 point guy in the next 5-6 years then this is a great deal. It's pricey for the point production but a top pairing RHD that can get you 40 points is a luxury in the nhl right now. If you aren't bringing back Hronek then who are you really replacing him with? A 34 yr old Tanev that won't be that far off in price? This is the big one out of the way, now we can bring back Myers closer to 2.75-3.25, Joshua at 3-3.75, Teddy B as a 4th line C n hopefully our big splash UFC Guentzel to play with Petey
Guys are getting the bag with 43 points 7 .25 7 yrs insane when to long a go that production good for about 4.25 million
gotta keep the captain happy - that’s priceless
Hopefully he can get more points because he dropped off half way through the season. Also he sucked in the playoffs. But cap is going up so salary is going up. As long as he plays the same or better, this contract will be a steal in the future. Someone is going to over pay a RHD. I guess it was the Canucks. LOL.
He nearly had 50 pts 7.25 mill is pretty fair especially with the cap going up
expected at least 8 mil, great signing for 26yo right handed D
I wasn't expecting him to re sign. The price is good, the term is a bit long (maybe).
But now we have Hronek and Miller through their entire primes. I think in the long run this will be a great signing
@@dirk903It’s a tradeable contract. Even when he’s 31-32
@@dirk903I'm not a huge fan of the term either. But at least he's still fairly young.
Yeah, what happened with the 8? Maybe he realized he shouldn't get paid more than Hughes. LOL.
@@sucraf1 I think his 2nd half of the season and playoffs cancelled out any chance of him getting 8.
Hronek and Hughes are a top pairing D in the NHL. A great signing at 6 million..but a decent signing at 7.25.
I'm guessing that this could be a sign and trade to Carolina for Guentzel's rights, Necas and whatever other pieces added either way. I can't see Allvin spending that much on Hronek due to other pressing needs such as a top caliber winger for Pettersson.
It is a fantastic signing.
Big W!!! Great defenseman and Quinn stays happy as well!
I would have preferred Zadorov being signed. Hopefully we won’t be putting him in the OEL category in a few years
It's okay. I would have preferred trading him, because $7 million for 43 points and mediocre defensive play is pricey, but who knows? Maybe he plays well all year instead of half a year and it ends up being a good contract. I still think they need to look at Pesce and Tanev at reasonable cap hits to round out the defence, but we'll see.
Man I can’t take you seriously you have some bad takes
Only reason he choked last half is they took hughes away from him.
I agree about Tanev or Pesce. Myers did develop chemistry with Soucy, so it’s possible we go budget this year on defense instead and load more forwards. I could see Dillon signing and maybe Cole again. I do want them to go out and get Toffoli and maybe Bertuzzi, at this point we could barely afford Guentzel and that’s only if we trade out Mikheyev.
As long as it wasn’t above 8M I was going to be happy. This is a good signing. Allvin does it once again.
I’m glad he doesn’t have a M-NTC/NMC and it’s huge there’s no signing bonuses. This makes it a fair signing.
Well, Capfriendly just updated and there are signing bonuses, and
M-NTC/NMC 😞
@@bobbyvv136I didn’t see any NTC or M-NTC on Capfriendly, I’m sure it’s included… But it hasn’t updated for me yet. Maybe because I’m looking on mobile. 🤔 What’s the stipulations?
This is a great deal that well get better over the years and hes only 26, so hes gonna get better as the years go on and the cap goes up, this well be good short term and great long term, as for the more pressing need being a top winger thats only because we signed hronek, our top rhd, imagine if we didnt have that top rhd..how much would the focus be on our biggest weakness is now our defense...damned if you do and damned if you dont ,damn rights good job alvin
If he finds consistency it’s a good deal, but him playing with Hughes is crucial to his success if that d-pairing falters and their spilt I could see him being as spotty as he was most of the season. One of those deals that are hard to make heads or tails of until it’s a few years in.
Well, if they re-sign Myers to a team friendly 2-2.5 mil per season contract, then we are basically paying the same two defenders the same amount of money as we were last year, just allocated differently.
C’mon guys let’s sign Joshua now.
Doesn’t look like Zadorov is a option now
Guessing that this deal got done after Canucks management realized that they are probably too far apart with Zadorov's camp.
Oh not you again
It doesn't but maybe they can trade Ilya or buy out his contract.
It will be interesting to see where Zadorov lands and how much he gets paid. We obviously don't want to pay him too much even if we all like him.
Not bringing back Z is going to come back to haunt the Canucks. Even with Joshua and Z in the lineup, Hughes got bullied and bruised and was unable to perform up to his standards. Now they have zero toughness and will be run out of the playoffs early.
@@alvin8287yeah they’re gonna need to go out and find some tougher guys this offseason. Thankfully they seem to be going out to try to immediately replace those guys for dudes on cheaper deals which is necessary
The number is fine, its the 8 years that might hurt... but by that point if the Nucks dont have a cup this core will have failed and Allvin will be out. First 4 years should be fine, which is all you should need. Hughes is underpaid as well, so that helps a lot.
If he was a LHD i would argue more........ I didnt expect too see this deal done in Vancouver for less than 8.5........ i think in q few years its going too start looking discounted
"love Hronek first half, terrible second half", and that guides your opinion. Like most Van city fans its a regency effect when looking at new contracts. RHD, plays with Hughes well, 26 years...this is not a bad deal at all. He was going to get 7.5-8 on the open market. Take the positives.
PS - Puckpedia is the new caprfriendly. Embrace the change
I'm ok with this. If we let him go and tried to find an RHD replacement of his caliber it would have cost the same if not more.
5v5, Hughes and Hronek were one of the best 1st pair Ds in the league both offensively and defensively.
He'll be 34 when the contract expires.
Look at the brightside. If he performed well in the second half. It would probably cost more
Now that he has a big contract should be easier to deal
Don’t know what these comments are talking about. I think this is a good contract
I would have liked a little closer to 7mil buts this is fine it would have been so hard to find a replacement and now hronek doesn’t have to hear us fans bitchin during the summer about contract or trades
And we are supposed to be okay with over paying this guy for two years longer than they should have
It’s about what was expected. Who ever was signing hronek was probably paying that.
Not a bad deal, I expected worse.
Alvin cooking
I guess if he's just 26, that means he's still not at his peak yet, so he's got plenty of room to grow.
Nice. Glad we managed to keep him. But 8 years by 7 mill will not be great in year 6,7,8
With a big pay like this, leaves not alot of space to resign many other players. So Z is out, Joshua is out, Lindholm is out.
Can the Canucks make a deal for one of the big name wingers now?
no way this guy has one good season and gets 7.25 lol
sleepy jim got fleeced lol
now people can shut up about trading him for necas
Interesting.
Not worth the long term cost
I thought for sure he was a goner. Now get Zadorov.
It’s a smart signing
NHL 24 ahh contract
Does this mean Canucks are out on Necas? Or sign and trade soo ?
People need to chill. 7.25 mill is to much for Hronek but 5 mill for Zadarov is great. I would love to have them both. Left vs right d is a different game. Zadarov is more replacable. Brendon Dillion could be signed for 2.5.
What a terrible move. Zadorov should've got all this money.
hughes is gonna leave the Canucks at this point, when he sees all these other klopecks getting paid more or similar to him when he is CLEARLY the best player on this team.
If I were him, Id be pretty upset
good deal
How can you at all say there was any sense to the oel trade 😂 sure we wouldn’t have garland, but we wouldn’t be paying for oel right now and we would have Dylan Guenther or whoever they picked with that first round pick, and all we had to do was have one more non playoff year which who knows, maybe would have gotten us a higher pick again
So how much cap space do we have left?
Capfriendly says $18,553,333 and that includes Tucker Poolman being on LTIR
@@ht5587 I am praying they sign big Z
Anyone who thinks zadorov is better then hronek is delusional. Zadorov would be your 3rd pairing left shot D behind soucy. You cant pay the guy what there asking. Hronek is way younger and a right shot D. Cant pay a guy for what they do in playoffs. Let the guy get the bag he wants on another team. Hes not worth anything over 4.5 mill a year by his season stats.
They still have plenty of money left for JG DJ NZ TM bah bye 👋 lindholm
Sweet, another future OEL.
Zadorov is better
He just ain’t that good
way too long. way too much. this will comeback to bite them hard...
nooooooooooooooooo wtf why wayyy wayyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy over paid rip we are finished back to the bottem next season fk this they cant DO ANYTHING RIGHT LIKE FK WE HAD ONE GOOD SEASON THEY JUST HAVE TO FK IT UP
You’re drunk
@@mcj44 they guy had 0.25 pts a game in the late half he was also non existed in play off. Hughes made him look good that is all. He is worth 5.5-6 not a penny more ruined cap space for real good players like Z
@@YPM-fx4yj Drunk.
Tbh when the cap goes up next year and the year after that, this contract will look alot better
Very bad, dumb move by the Canucks knuckleheads. They could have get Justin Barron from the Canadiens for a. 3 rd round pick and he would have been even better option than Hronek. The Canucks will regret this signing
Nah that's not a good signing. For over 7M for 8 years? At the most his a 4.5M. same with Zadorov and Myers. Sign them, you'll need big defensemen for the long run. Having short D is not good, ask your gf. Lol
That’s not bad. 7 mil would have been acceptable, just a tad over. Hopefully he lives up to his contract..
250K is negligible
@@Starrynova For his pockets, yes. But to all adds up when you have to sign a ton of other contracts. I’m sure team management has already worked out the math and this fit into the structure. Overall it feels like a fair contract, so good job for them.
Bwahaha! 😂😂😂😂way overrated! His defensive play is horrible put him in as a forward😂😂😂 he will dumped within a few years if he does not vastly improve defensively he gets burned constantly on defense 😂😂😂😂😂😂 he was really bad in Detroit a big let down! Yeah he had good points but was horrible in his own zone constantly
Wanted big z
Good
What an overpayment Lol.. unreal lmao Hronek 1 Canucks 0
Omg sounds like the happiness a heartless man would have putting down his dog ..... 😅
Welcome to the core Fil 😎
Is he worth it, I think not. How does this impact cap space?
He is worth and we still have 18.75 million in cap space
BOMBOCLAT
You're better than Canuck Clay...by far
