I should mention... I am not doing this for money or sponsors, or subscriptions. I am just a guy who decided to tackle this myself, because its allot cheaper than having someone else doing it. With that in mind I had a hard time find a complete source of truth for some of the tricky aspects of doing this, so I created my own video, in hopes it will help someone else out there! If this helps you, let me know.
Excellent final product & video. Thanks for the great detail in your video, buddy. I'm grateful to you for paying careful attention before and during the renovation. You should feel good about all your selfless efforts 👍
thanks man! i have worked on cars for 13 years but never have i removed a headliner. it nice to watch what you are going to do before you actually go do it! thanks for posting and sharing advice
you are the man! couldn't figure out how to get the damn overhead console off but you made the whole replacement process a breeze! my 99 ram looks great! I appreciate it!
My pleasure. That's why I created the video. I was having trouble finding examples of doing this start to finish when I was going to do mine. Hope it goes well for you.
In my experience if you press the padding too hard while the glue is still wet it will leave lumps. Nice even pressure. Gentle. Let the glue dry before flipping over and installing.
It;s been a while since I did this, but I think I had to push it far to one side so that some tabs holding it in would be exposed so I could lower it down and pop it out.
Great instructional video... I have the same truck style 2002 ram 2500 quad cab also how many yards of fabric did you purchase? I didn’t hear it during your video. Amazon sells it by the yard I most likely not buy enough
Thanks so much for the comment! It was one of those things where I could not find this information when I did mine, so I decided to make this video in case it helped someone else. Here is a link to the fabric I bought for mine off Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X2TLA82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It was a 120" x 60". With that much, I had plenty left over. I am also pleased to report the headliner is still looking good. Hope this answers your question.
Thankful for this video. It is extremely helpful. Do you have a link to this one you bought so I have no issues...theres so many out there. Most stay dash cover replacement and wasn't positive if thats what I need because in red letters it says its a cover almost like it isn't like yours. Yours is what I am looking for..any help would be really appreciated.. Thanks again
In my case I have a quad cab. I had to open both doors, and then fold the front seats as flat as the would go. Once its loose, drop it down, then angel the back up toward the rear window as high as it can go and drop the front of the headliner toward the floor of the front seat. From there I kind of jimmied it back and forth until I was able to slide it out.
Tetris. Yes, getting it out of the vehicle can be challenging. Some vehicles require you to lower the seats or twist the headliner. Remove the seat if it's too hard
I used an auto headliner fabric I purchased from Amazon. You can find the link here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X2TLA82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The glue I used was from 3m. You can find it here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MEBENM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1
You can find headliner material online and at most fabric stores. The soapy adhesive is available at most automotive part stores (and online, of course)
The fabric was some generic headliner fabric I bought on amazon, you can find it here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X2TLA82/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The glue is 3M 38808 Headliner and Fabric Adhesive, also bought off amazone, here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004MEBENM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My biggest piece of advice on that is buy two cans. I only bought and it barely was enough. In hindsight, I wish I had two so I could be more liberal with the application.
"Stellantis" should have their corporate collective asses kicked for this nonsense. I just got done converting my 01 Cummins to 4WD, using a donor V10 96 and a "rolling" 98 parts frame.
Was the perfect opportunity to use black or dark brown fabric for the headliner to match interior!
the best part is you did it your self im 68 iv done this stuf all my life and you did a excellent job i proly cant do any better thank you LOOKS GOOD

What glue/adhesive did you use, and how did you go about making good adhesion while it set up? Also where did you choose to source your fabric?
Excellent final product & video. Thanks for the great detail in your video, buddy. I'm grateful to you for paying careful attention before and during the renovation. You should feel good about all your selfless efforts 👍
Thanks for sharing. LMK Trucks sells a roof liner that bolts in, no fabric and will NEVER sag. Just wanted to share as well.
Help immensely. Thx so much. Looks awesome too. Hopefully mine comes out nice.
thanks man! i have worked on cars for 13 years but never have i removed a headliner. it nice to watch what you are going to do before you actually go do it! thanks for posting and sharing advice
Nice job. Appreciate you talking the time to show us ram guys how to do this. Looks great.
you are the man! couldn't figure out how to get the damn overhead console off but you made the whole replacement process a breeze! my 99 ram looks great! I appreciate it!
A angle grinder with a wire brush and a vacuum .would make short work on stripping the foam , just go slow and easy. Good video thanks
Looks great to me. Thanks for taking the time to show how it’s done.
Awesome job, deff a lot easier with the way our doors are. Full access to the inside of the truck.
Thankyou so much i was so worried i was going to break the center console
Doing my headliner tomorrow, thank you for the help. Doing my 97 Dodge Ram.
My pleasure. That's why I created the video. I was having trouble finding examples of doing this start to finish when I was going to do mine. Hope it goes well for you.
Nice job looks real pro one thing though you didn’t show us The adhesive you used I’ll give this video👍👍👍👍👍

Great video. I've been trying to figure out how to get the headliner out of my 99 which has the same issues yours did. Thanks!
Looks good. I plan on doing mine but I want to change it the dark gray and paint the plastic pieces updating the dome light to LED.
thanks man, getting ready to do this now, my headliner is deteriorating
the soft foam on my headliner is turning to dust, dusting my entire cab
put the visor screws just slightly in after you rewove the visor, that makes it very easy to locate the holes when reinstalling
Great video. Ready to repair my 99 dodge headliner.
Thank you so much!
I have a 99 dodge and need to replace the headliner too
In my experience if you press the padding too hard while the glue is still wet it will leave lumps. Nice even pressure. Gentle. Let the glue dry before flipping over and installing.
Great dodge vid. Do you have any more?
How do the coat hooks go back in. I know they are two pieces but don't know how to get them back into their spots.
With the headliner removed, could you see the clearance lights holes for a truck that doesn't have clearance lights?
no clearance light holes on my truck.
Thanks for the video. It helped a lot!!
How do you get the clips out I’ve been trying to many ways for over an hour
Thanks man this really helped
HOw did you reinstall the coat hanger clips?
they're hard asf to get back in
Awesome video! Thank you sir, very helpful
Hi where you get the carpet
I did not see any holes for clearance lights
How did you get the connector out of the dome light. Can’t get my fingers int their

Measure, but I'd say 2 yards is plenty. A yard and half might be enough (not every store will sell cloth by half yard, though?)
How is it looking a couple years later, still no sagging?
Still looking great. That 3M glue is doing it's job!
@@etwalgade awesome, i'm glad to hear

Remove the seat if it's too hard
So what kind of fabric did you use and glue? Is it kind of like an iron-on fabric or peel and apply?
I used an auto headliner fabric I purchased from Amazon. You can find the link here: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X2TLA82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Nice job. Where and what kind of fabric? Glue used? Thanks for any feedback you can give me. Thanks!

What is the shell made of???
It's kind of a fiber board.
where can i get the fabric from?
Amazon: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00X2TLA82/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thank you so much,,
Has it started sag at all?
no, still looks great.
Oh! A scraper!!!
I used a nylon drill brush. That drill brush is super handy for all sorts of things.
"Stellantis" should have their corporate collective asses kicked for this nonsense. I just got done converting my 01 Cummins to 4WD, using a donor V10 96 and a "rolling" 98 parts frame.
........dat ain't no center console
