Because the British SA80 has more moving parts and it freezes more easily in Arctic Warfare and it failed trials when Canada was looking for a new rifle to replace the Belgium FNs. In actual fact the British special forces and the Royal Marines as well as elements of the Royal Military Police use the Canadian C8. You could ask them the same question. Otherwise both New Zealand and Australian Army are part of the Commonwealth and they use the AUG which is bullpup.
Oh please. You just need your basic para to be in 3SOR (making fun of 3 VP) para company. The whole idea of Canadian para is to jump into the arctic and reinforce the northern flank.
@michael dowson Exactly, the Americans are currently preparing for war in the South China Sea, while we're getting ready for war with Russia in the Baltic.
They're not, actually. PPCLI is one of three conventional infantry regiments in Canada. Their para companies have some of the same capabilities as the Rangers. Canadians are able to take the Ranger course, and you see the Ranger tab on Canadian uniforms now and again. Canada has dedicated SOF units for Tier 2 and Tier 1 operations (CSOR and JTF 2).
War games with this unit in Alaska in the early 80s, very serious and competent soldiers!!
Question. Why do Commonwealth military use a version of the M-16 but UK use the Bullpup?

@@alvindurochermtl NZ no longer uses the AUG. They have moved to the LMT MARS-L.
THE EQUIVALENT TO THE US ARMY RANGERS
Yes but tougher! My American military friends tell me they were proud to have Canadian troops serving with them in Afghanistan!

@@IndustrialMilitia Neither of you two have a clue what you're talking about.
