I’m more mad about the 4th and 1 play call more than the refs spotting the ball short only because it was stopped multiple times before and they had no wrinkles off it or other answer. Kinda frustrating
The announcers called it during the game. The Chiefs knew exactly where Josh was going to go with the ball. Four failed attempts is just plain bad coaching
I don’t get people who are saying to blow up the coaching staff/front office/etc. We were 1 score away from dethroning the reigning Super Bowl champs in their own stadium, and got 1 game away from the bowl ourselves. We went 13-3 in a rebuild year and locked up our division in week 11, landing at the 2 seed. We stopped an unstoppable Ravens offense in the postseason and averaged 30+ points during the regular season. Do we need to make some adjustments? Sure. But ask yourself if we’re even in this position in the first place with Johnny Rando as our new head coach or OC. I’m proud of our boys, and fully confident that Allen will bring a Lombardi to WNY.
@@benguensche No, no, the Bills make sure to give KC good draft picks....Mahomes AND Worthy. Bills Mafia should have a fucking skybox at AssHead I mean Arrowhead Stadium in exchange for the Bills propelling the Chiefs Dynasty.
@@stevesalter3859dude worthy looked like shit all year and he doesn’t block. The bills wouldn’t have picked him… you know it but you’re being emotional. You wanna be salty about Mahomes sure, but we have the second best qb and I bet if we swapped KC would still have the rings.
I thought is was a great season. Very proud of our team for the unbeaten home record and the fact we beat both the Lions and Chiefs. I expected a loss Sunday and although I wasn't surprised at the final result I still was pretty sad. My hats off to the entire staff for taking a rag tag bunch of players and putting them in the Championship game.
Last year, Stef dropped the game winning pass in the endzone at the end of the game. This year, it was Dalton Kincaid. The KC players step up in clutch situations, the Bills dont. The opportunity was there. this is where you earn those millions of dollars you're earning. Do your job, make the play.
Well said. Just be better. Make the 2 pt attempts. Make the first down when you need it. The Bills rely on their opponents screwing up. KC doesn’t do that on this stage.
Until there is a gamewrecker, A GAMEWRECKER somewhere on the Bills' defensive line, this result will not change. We constantly say Mahomes vs. Allen. It's really Mahomes and Chris Jones vs. Allen....so let's go draft another big-bodied receiver!!! SMFH
💯 Bills need a great pash rusher, a shutdown CB who can consistently play man at a high level and a good safety who isn’t injury prone. Bills defense has been the main reason they lose vs Mahomes.
Like who, the Bengals? Any way you look at it, getting through the playoffs in the AFC is a tall task. I'm hoping the Bengals lose Tee Higgins, because having Burrow with Chase and Higgins is very tough to stop. I thought this year was our best shot so far just because the Bengals didn't make it. Only had to get through Baltimore and KC. Already beat KC during the regular season and our offense was riddled with injuries
I'm 47 years old I have been though so much with this team but I will never give up are time has to come Josh Allen is too good he will get one for this city and I'll be here like always
Huge problem for me is the draft capital and free agent dollars spent on the defensive line and they always come up short. Defense is mostly just role players with a few exceptions.
This is a HUGE off-season for Beane. Joe, other than Allen what game changing, championship talent has he brought in? (KC has Mahomes, Kelce & Jones). Any Coach ever win their 1st SB this far into the job as McD is? Can Beane McD ever get over the hump? This off season will be a big answer.
It's amazing how much better I feel today. It's almost like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I still LOVE my team. Plus, there is NO anticipation or anxiety leading up to a week from Sunday. I'll spend the day doing anything but watching the Chiefs and Tay Tay and momma Kelce. Maybe even get out of town for the weekend. Bills, we are PROUD of the year you all gave us. Concerning this topic, the coach of the Chiefs, Andy Reid, is on a totally different level compared to the other coaches in the league, and let's face it, Mahomes is incredible. Their scheme, the defensive coordinator, you name it, they are a superior team in those categories. I love the Bills, but I also, seriously - and I'll probably be scoffed at for this, think there is a psychological block with them when they play the Chiefs. EVERYTHING in life has a psychological aspect to it. Last year, they had the Chiefs at home and all we said was FINALLY we get them at HOME. What happened then? THIS year, and yes, I'll be honest I did think the Bills would probably win and I actually thought that even with the players made of glass in the backfield, that they were a better team and they'd prevail. Look what happened. I'm convinced it's a mental issue and that's why (maybe) McD and Brady went into their damn conservative offense again and then even worse, instead of taking their OWN advice and "trusting the process" they stopped running which was working and started passing on first and second downs. I don't know if it'll ever change as far as the Chiefs OWNING the Bills, because if it was going to, the law of averages says it'd have happened already. Thank you again Bills for a very fun season, and thanks to Joe, once again.
first round buy is a Huge advantage . you get the last week resting your players usually. then get one week rest . and you play the at best #4 seed . so you are 60 mins a way from AFC Championship game
Yup tough to do with the refs helping KC the whole way we were awesome this year 13-3 before the meaningless last game and still we ended up #2. Smh oh and they changed the rules to screw the 2 seed just when Bills came to relevance, of course, smh.
@@BillsMafiaExperiencein the 7 years the Chiefs have made the AFCCG, they’ve had the #1 seed 4 times, so it’s not everything. You can win despite not having it, which the Chiefs showed last year.
Philly and the Rams both have 2 legit contenders for defensive rookie of the year. (DeJean, Baun, - Fiske, Verse) We need a draft like that this year. Lots of picks, no excuses, Beane.
Sucks we always play em in the regular season.. it's hard enough beating division teams twice a year, let alone the non divisional Chiefs. They're practically a divisional rival by this point, and we always split the two games. Difference being, THEY always win the second meeting.
Your content has a direct impact on my mental health. My husband and I have been waiting to hear your analysis. Right now all we have is emotion and it’s still brutal.
The kadarius toney trade was worth it. He has the longest punt return in super bowl history. Without that the chiefs might not win the game. That alone makes it worth it.
Yeah idk that I buy that they have some huge amounts of misses in drafting. Like everyone misses some but they traded tyreek hill and drafted a top 5 defense
@@rodneyjohnson5457 Rousseau is solid but he’s not a game changer like Chris Jones, Cook is good and with better play calling he might get better. But Allen, Cook, Rousseau is not equal to Mahomes, Kelce, Jones especially with how KC has coaches miles ahead of Buffalo. Bills have the players to start building with but we need to draft better giving up multiple pics for busts or developmental players isnt going to cut it. And we need at least one established coordinator.
It’s a matter of bucking the trend… once a team plans against you, you need to have alternatives off of what they’ve seen, that’s the secret of the Chiefs
We also blew these drafts. Coleman is a nice kid but we pass on Worthy or Ladd McKoney for him? What are the scouts looking at to make these decisions. We needed speed and or a seperator and we pass on both to get a slow, non separator who i hope turns into a fight for the ball good receiver. I like Kincaid alot but Brady is terrible for scheming him open.
Coleman looked outmatched for most of the season. This team passes on the obvious picks more often than not. Look at how the Eagles draft from winning programs. I’d rather draft a receiver that always seems to get open. These receivers do not win their routes. Mack Hollins impressed me this year but he should be your #5 receiver.
Joe….. thanks for being here every day. We are obviously gutted, but having you come on is a form of Bills therapy for me. Helps me kinda get through this sadness. Keep up the great work
I feel like in order to beat the Chiefs you have to build and develop your defense and you have to run the ball effectively. Too many teams focus on “dueling Maholmes”. Look at the Chiefs trading Hill and using those draft picks for McDuffie, and developing Karlaftis and Bolton and Snead and others.
I said this very thing to Bills’ fans before the Bills played the Chiefs in the regular season and people thought I was trolling but I was being honest. The worse things the Bills could do was beat the Chiefs in the regular season. Because by the Bills beating the Chiefs it did 4 things. 1. It gave the Bills false confidence. Because Andy Reid and Steve Spagnuolo absolutely hold back plays for the offseason! People wonder why the Chiefs struggle during the regular season and turn it on in the postseason because they save their best for the postseason! 2. They saw the plays and formations that didn’t work and they changed that before the playoffs! 3. They saw the personnel they weren’t working and were able to change that. 4. Most important losing to the Bills meant the Chiefs were no longer chasing an undefeated season! And that meant on week 18 it was not even a second thought about resting their starters. Which allowed KC to be the healthiest and most well rested ever going into the playoffs. Most teams were all dealing with some kind of injuries at key positions going into the playoffs. Not KC and that was because of the Bills!
@ I never said you should look bad. But showing your best plays in the regular season is one of the many reasons y’all will never prosper in the postseason. But I’m sure that makes no sense to you. Keep doing what you do! It’s obviously worked out so well for you so far. Remind me again how many Lombardi’s are located in Orchard Park, New York? 🤨
@@Justin-oz3lwif it means winning in the playoffs yes I could care less if we beat them in the regular season we just got bounced for the 4th time things gotta change
I know you seriously believe this. But to me it comes off as arrogance. There is absolutely no way Reid is not trying hard to beat the Bills in the regular season or holding back that much. He purposely tried to feature Worthy early in the regular season as a way to be petty and show KC won the Worthy trade. He is not a guy that is going to sacrifice a win as a strategy for helping in the playoffs. Sure, they do a better job at mixing up strategy and coming up with new wrinkles in the playoffs, and they are better than the Bills coaches at that. But it is not due to playing vanilla against the Bills in the regular season. Both teams are very equal and it is mostly coincidence that the Chiefs success has almost solely been in the playoffs.
@ I’ve been a Chiefs fan for over 30 years and I’ve literally been at or seen every Chiefs game in that timeframe. I’m not speaking from arrogance. I’m speaking from seeing it. There are people close to Andy, Spags and Toub that say the same thing. All 3 of those coaches save stuff until the playoffs when you have no time to prepare for them. Wasp, corn dog and popcorn are 3 of the plays that come to mind. The teams they used them on had no idea those plays existed until it was too late. It’s one of the many things that separates the Chiefs from the other 31 franchises. That’s not hyperbole. 7 AFCCG’s in 7 years and 5 SB appearances says it loud and clear!
Everyone wanted a receiver. It’s easy to look back and say “this player has been good we should of got them” I suppose we should have drafted puka nakua over Kincaid as well
Miller needs to be cut or retire he doesn’t have the aggression anymore. Linebackers are needed, Milano was doing all he could with one arm. We need three really good ones that way they can be rotated. Also bigger aggressive DL to make other teams QB’s move around. Was disappointed in Elam when he came in. Offense and Special Teams are great. Defense needs some huge improvement.
I would even offer Rousseau and next years pick for Crosby. Keep this years #30 pick and use that along with the 2 2nd round picks on the best defensive players available. Preferably CB,S and DT.
I have no doubt now that if Bills played Chiefs again in another week, they would find a way to lose again. The terrible play calling thru at least half of that game and the defense faltering, Bills just don't have the right mix of players and coaches to win.
I agree. The three and out to start the game was very concerning. They didn’t have the same focus, grit as previous games. They were shook. Never got the impression their heads were in it enough to win. They let the Chiefs take it to them. Does the same thing happen in orchard park? Unfortunately it probably would have. Nerves got them. Players and coaches.
Should have built a dome. No elite offensive skill players ( WR, RB , TE ) want to play in cold wet slippery snowy weather for half of the year. Allen should go back to California and play for the 49ers. I’m not a 49er fan but they can get all the elite skill players that will help Allen win a SB. Samuel, Coleman and Shakir is disrespectful for a top 5 QB. If you can’t land a true #1 WR you have to have a top 5 tight end.
It’s all about opponents mistakes…. They should have lost to Ravens, Raiders , panthers, falcons, broncos and now bills … but other teams blew it … in the end
I'm beginning to have concerns about a few things. #1 Is Buffalo's strength and conditioning dept. doing enough. Buffalo seems to have a ton of injuries. Are the players being taught proper techniques to stay healthy. # 2 Is there an issue with Buffalo's scouting process. Elam was simply a bust ( be it just the wrong player or lacking ability to develop). Coleman was not productive. He was supposed to be a contested catch guy. #3 If not scouting. Then it has to be the coaching staffs failure to develop players or place players in a scheme that makes them their best. #4 Philosophy doing thing's the same way over and over. Inability to develop and change in game is a huge issue. EXAMPLE every 4th down is Josh Allen tush push to the left every time. Why do we have a full back?
Loved to see this season, glad if we ever had a year like this, it was this year. Go Bills a lot to fix still but progress is progress no matter how small
I'm a Niners fan, but I pull for the Bills as well. What a great, even-handed podcast you do. You're seriously great at this. That said, the Bills would have won this game if the coach would not run the tush push over and over. How about a little creativity? A swing pass? A dink over the line to a tight end? There is the difference. When the Chiefs are behind the eight-ball, they dial-up something creative.
If Allen would have slid the protection to the right and threw it to Shakir out of the backfield where he was wide open by 10 yards, might be a different story. Come on JOSH!
I really think people underestimate how difficult that catch was for Kincaid. People keep saying that he should have caught it, but he had to lay out just to get a forearm on it. I keep hearing people saying it hit him in the hands, make the play. I don’t see it being that easy.
You mean the roster that got all the way to the AFC Championship game,, when most analysts didn't have them making the playoffs? The problem at the end of the day is coaching. The Chief's are just better. Can the Bills improve? Highly unlikely.
Joe, can you talk about some of the criticism that Sean McDermott has been getting? Even after the loss to KC people are saying he was out coached. I didn’t see that. I believe Sean McDermott is an amazing coach who personified Buffalo football. I’m not saying he hasn’t had his fair share of faults in the past but by far I think he’s still a top five coach in the league and it’s unwarranted to have a conversation about firing McDermott you can’t continue to blame the coach for player execution as well.
The entire Bills coaching staff was out coached. Reid and Spags were running circles around us the entire game. It's okay to admit that. I'm not saying fire McDermott, but we need to face the fact that the gap between Reid/Spags and McDermott/Brady is as wide as the Grand Canyon.
I agree. I think this was McDermott:'s best year as Buffalo's HC. I can't believe how quickly people have forgotten the 18 years in a row we didn't even sniff the playoffs with a merry go round off coaches who couldn't get us there. Yes I know, we didn't have a QB like Josh Allen, but we didn't have any direction from those coaches or front office and management either. Joe's right when he says we shouldn't take any of our current successes and accomplishments for granted. McDermott and Beane and the rest of the coaches have built a winning culture in Buffalo where players now want to come here and play for this team.
It's pretty amazing that a lot of the McDermott haters are even football fans. A lot of quality's it takes to be a football player these people have none of ( loyalty, toughness, character, ect.) Also these people seem to have no idea about cause and effect. A new head coach means a new system. A new system means new players and time for the system to get in place. This makes me wonder if these people are bills fans at all or just haters.
You guys are close. Keep your heads up. Coaching and experience help in the key games. I don't mention Patrick because you guys have a great qb, too. Also, the Chiefs training staff is low-key the best in the league. You need games like these to get stronger. You guys will probably win next year in the same spot and get to SB LX.
The first year that the Bills became a contender, the league changed their playoff format by allowing an extra wild card team into the tournament. That ended the top 2 seeds getting a bye. The Bills should have really gotten the bye these last 3 years. I truly believe that those Lombardis would be in a different trophy case if it weren’t for that change.
It’s not like the Chiefs haven’t also had to deal with that change though. And they end up playing the toughest, on paper, schedule every season. The Patriots are the ones who truly benefited from being able to rest by only needing to be the #2 seed.
Let's ignore the fact that Mahomes doesn't touch the ball in overtime. Brady win. Josh doesn't touch the ball in overtime. Mahomes wins. THEN they changed the damn rules that have been in place FOREVER!!!!
@danielfishback6348 how about pĺy a smart football game against them just once. McDermott acts like basic football strategy doesn't exist when playing the chief's. things like Punting for field position, kicking field goals, going for one, being patient and not forcing plays that worked in regular season but not in playoifs. The list goes on. When andy reid has a chance to put points on the board he takes the most reasonable approach and lets the game play out. mcdermott forces it in the moment as if its now or never
You know it was over when the D couldn’t stop Ravens passing game on last drive …. If Lamar can get it done …. U know Mahommes is going To rip u apart … the D .. 6 years now
My 12 year old son was Sad😢..I said Son. I've loved this team for 35 years! I sat through 4 Superbowl losses, and the Music city Miracle....Lets not Cry when we lose...lets Save those tears for when the Bills will Win it All!!!!..He Said ok Dad...❤😊 Go Bills!!!❤
I'm really looking for the Bills to show some urgency and try to make a bold move this offseason. But they've gotta be smart about it at the same time, so they don't wind up in a Von Miller situation again. Make a trade. Find a way to bring in an established HIGH impact player. Particularly on the defense, or another boundary wideout with some speed. Order of priority for me would be CB->EDGE->S->WR. I'm going interior defensive line in the 1st round of the draft in all likelihood. Go try to make a trade for another boundary corner. Let Benford play on the right side and go get a guy who can match up 1 on 1 against the solo receiver. Maybe someone like Jaycee Horn from the Panthers. Go get an edge rusher to pair up with rousseau. Go get Maxx Crosby lol. Doubt they'd have the money for it but just generalizing here, find a way to bring in a dog to add to this defense. Someone who can be a game wrecker. Sacrifice some future assets because Josh isn't getting younger. He's gonna get hit a point in his career where all the scrambling, hurdling dudes, taking shots, that's gonna start fading away. It always does. I'm not as worried about the offense as I am the defense at this point, because this season proved this team can be highly efficient and score loads of points with just a random group of dudes. Also, It is absolutely imperative that the Bills hit on their draft picks this year. Lastly, free agency. Gonna have to see who gets resigned or not, but I'm looking towards the secondary first. Some potential UFA safeties that could hit the market if they're not resigned. Justin Reid(KC), Jeremy Chinn(WAS), Julian Blackmon(IND), Jevon Holland(MIA), Trevon Moehrig(LV). Cam Bynum(MIN), Andre Cisco(JAX). I'm looking at safety because I'm not sold on Bishop being a long term answer at free safety, and as much as I love and respect the guy, I'm not resigning Damar Hamlin if I'm Buffalo. We just need more speed, size and athleticism in this secondary and Hamlin doesn't check any of those boxes.
Clearly, the Bills don't have that big of a problem with the Chiefs. They beat them during the regular season. If the Bills had just an ounce more talent on Defense, they would stomp the Chiefs...and everyone else.
You had the #1 ranked defense in 2021 and the #2 ranked defense in 2022... both losses to the Chiefs in the playoffs. Got any more easily shattered narratives you want to spin?
The difference is the general manager position. The Chiefs draft better. And then, during the middle of the season, the Chiefs lose their running back, but instead they managed to find Kareem Hunt off the couch.
Von has been good this year despite only playing 30% of the snaps. I could make the argument that he deserved more snaps. Especially over Epenesa. He was our best edge player this year.
Good Morning Joe The Bills have a drafting problem and McDermott’s unwillingness to make changes to his schemes. Look at Ponah Ford playing on the Chargers because Ponah played well as the Bills are to small on defense.
Success breeds success; Failure breeds failure. It’s all in the mind , it’s the same in any sport . If only the Bills had won that first Superbowl against the Giants .
The Bills have had the same Chiefs problem since 2020. The Bucs showed us the recipe, and it hasn't changed. It's the difference between the JA17 era and the JK12 era: PASS RUSH. This team is a universe removed from the D line dominance we enjoyed in the K-Gun era. We aren't going to build that signing aging veterans at top dollar, we are going to have to prioritize it, build it, and develop it, FAST! Where is our Bruce? Where is our Biscuit? I'd mortgage our future to put two game wreckers on our roster for the next few years, but I'd rather get that in the draft.
Superstar QBs like Josh Allen don’t grow on trees. Bills should be willing to deal some players and a couple of picks if they can get Max Crosby or Myles Garett. They have to nail the draft like Philly did last year if they want to have a better chance in 2025.
@@jameskfouri1896 I mean when I wrote "I'd mortgage our future to put two game wreckers on our roster" I was thinking about both of them. That would leave us in the same position the Rams were in after their SB win. I'd take that, but I don't want to do that for a couple of dudes who are aging out like Khalil Mack. Teams who make annual deep playoff runs like us need to build our teams through the draft, and then develop our picks into stars, but be willing to let those stars go, and live off the comp picks we get from their free agency signings. We should only shell out big FA money on younger guys who we know will produce like Garret and Crosby. But I'd want both of them.
Yup they have no difference maker on defense. I’m so tired of letting every offense go up and down the field on us waiting for them to drop the ball or turn it over. The chiefs do not do that.
Chiefs are significantly more talented than the Bills on defense. They have multiple stars on their defense and 2 superstars in Chris Jones and Trent McDuffi. It would be great if they could get a speedy deep threat at WR but their biggest offseason priority should be getting a superstar pass rusher and a few difference makers at Safety and CB. It would be difficult but if they could swing a trade for Crosby, Hendrickson or Garrett they should do it. Hamlin,Miller,Douglas,Rapp and Elam should also no longer be on the team.
Good perspective. Although the "result" is the same every playoff against the Bills (i.e., KC victories), there is NOT a wide gulf between the two teams. The Bills are close, and the Bills PUSH the Chiefs to have to play THEIR best in order to beat the Bills. But we MUST find a way to make the key playsto win.
Of the starters, who are we at risk of losing for next season besides Johnson? Sorry if that is a remedial question...I'm trying to learn. Also, just a comment, but if the Chiefs have Reid, Mahomes and Spagnuolo and we have Josh, then it would seem the main areas we need to strengthen is HC and DC. I really like McDermott so wonder if he can improve in the areas where he is deficient while keeping the things he does great. As for Babich, is he just needing more time to adjust along with some more talent on the defense? Again, just trying to learn.
Question: On the last play it looked like the outside receivers were crossing in front. Why wouldn't the right receiver recognize his defender just blitzed and just turn around (hot rout) and Josh throws it for a first down? The Chiefs knew Josh would roll to his right, the receiver should know as well.
Because the safety was lined up over the corner that blitzed, meaning he's dropping down to pick up the blitzers man that he would've covered. Him dropping down is why Kincaid got open deeper down the field. Gotta catch the ball. Josh made an incredible effort to get that ball off and it somehow ended up in a spot where only our dude can make a play on it. Biggest game of your life. I understand the pass wasn't perfect, Josh had 2 free rushers in his face and was about to get lit up. But it was catchable, it hit him in the hands. If you want to be a team that can win a super bowl, if you want to be a championship caliber player, you've gotta catch that ball. There's good players, and then there's great players who make winning plays in the biggest moments. That ball gets caught, and the Bills go on to win that game, that would've been one of the greatest postseason plays in NFL history and NFL films would be making documentaries about it. All sorts of things you can point to. I'm mad about the officiating like everyone else but the bottom line is... We got the ball, down 3, with 3 minutes left and 3 timeouts. Normally you don't get those chances against Mahomes. The opportunity was there for this offense, and Josh, to go on a legacy defining game-winning drive, to ruin the dreams of that team, their organization and every fan in their building last night and we just couldn't do it. We couldn't do it last year either and had to settle for a game tying fg that missed. Situational play calling in the biggest moments is a major flaw with this team. Just feels like there's a lack of steadiness, composure and ingenuity in these situations. We have got to get it done. Noone is gonna hand it to us on a platter. You have to take it and you have to do it in convincing fashion. I don't want to win a super bowl by avoiding the Chiefs. I want to beat them. I want this team to earn their respect and not just be a checkbox that Pat has to check off on his yearly path to the super bowl. Something has to give. Something has to change.
Just catch the ball ….last year it was diggs who dropped bomb …look how worthy’s determination made that catch … bills didn’t want it … that’s a coaching problem, when a team can’t get up enough … chiefs were fired up …
Like I know it was their best play but if it isn't working why keep using it that literally insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
It’s not just about bad calls. I’ve studied the Chiefs this year and before this game I told my wife to prepare herself for what has happened. You will see every close call whether it’s a catch or a spot the Chiefs way. It looks legit because they review the play. The “clear and obvious” standard for overturning these calls on the field in the Chiefs favor make it likely to be a Chiefs positive play and an opponents negative play. It’s extremely easy to stall an opponent drive or sustain the Chiefs drive. This isn’t just sour grapes. The NFL has polished their technique in funneling teams where they want them and forcing the matchups they want.
And let’s not forget the “just in case” flags that are thrown. Just in case a big play is successful. Just in case a Chiefs play goes bad. These just in case flags are brutal.
That's cope you forgot that the only reason the chiefs punted was because they got called for false start when it was the bills who should have gotten an encroaching penalty. Defence clearly went across the line first. That fourth down play was close the only reason you think it was obvious was because of your bias. Did you lose the ravens game because of a really bad pass interference penalty? That penalty gave you a td before half.
As someone who's been following pro football since the mid 1990s, I've been calling Allen "this generation's Dan Marino" for awhile now. An epic and elite QB in a franchise that can't quite make it to the big game...
“Trust the process”……. How about a tendency breaker on offense. That was the most predictable play calling ever. The defense stinks but we already knew that
Bucs and the Bengals gave the rest of the NFL the formula to beat the Chiefs. It should be obvious to everyone who watches football. No matter how good your QB is, you can not beat KC if you don’t make Mahomes really uncomfortable. The Bengals sacked him 4 times and intercepted him as well. The Bucs sacked him 3 times and took the ball away 2 times. The Bills will not win until they significantly upgrade their pass rush and their secondary. That means game changing players on the DL and in the backfield. That’s a combination of trades, free agency and the draft to address their defensive weaknesses. Mahomes outside of that one drive in the 3rd quarter never looked uncomfortable. Fix that and you can beat him.
Let's not forget the times Buffalo broke our hearts in '93 and in some other big games. We couldn't get past the Bills. That's before a lot of you were even born. Lol The Bills may have lost all those SB's but broke our hearts several times in those years. Gotta add Brett Veach to those names, Veach, Reid, Spags and Mahomes. And don't underestimate Kelce out there. A vet everyone looks up to. And who opens the field up for others to eat while drawing double teams.
I actually think the 13 seconds was the worst coaching in history. Also dont think McDermott learned anything from it. Were still playing that off coverage, run away from the Wr defense . I believe it plays into the Chiefs wins against us every year but we still do it
Lets face it, without Josh we are a 5 win team. Its not fair to josh that we dont give the weapons. Cook is a nice back, shakir is great, matt is a great team player, but we passed on hopkins for Cooper. Big mistake.
Whew! I get to live another year!! Bills fans my age pray, "Just one before I die."

Yeah Brady had 0 tendency beaters these playoffs. He had a bad game
The announcers called it during the game. The Chiefs knew exactly where Josh was going to go with the ball. Four failed attempts is just plain bad coaching
Kincaid had the first down on the previous play and it looked like josh had it on the 4th and 1. Plenty of video out there

@peterwilson4865 all year I was thinking by always going left they are really setting up a playoff must-have to the right...
Happy to have you as a steady reassuring voice for us frustrated bills fans. Thanks joe 👍
Amen. Me too. 👏👏👏👏👍👊

I will say that you make good points, but in this game KC was gifted that Xavier Worthy catch. That not a catch and we know it.
@@ToddSparks-c1sand we gifted them Xavier Worthy...
SMFH
Exactly, Chris jones was helping stop those tush push. We need one guy. And two safety
💯 Bills need a great pash rusher, a shutdown CB who can consistently play man at a high level and a good safety who isn’t injury prone. Bills defense has been the main reason they lose vs Mahomes.
Someone on Cowherd said it best, we need to pray Someone else takes chiefs out because our coaches ain't beating theirs.
Josh is gonna leave for the rams soon. Wants to work with McVay in a more offensive focused organization who can actually win a superbowl
Huge problem for me is the draft capital and free agent dollars spent on the defensive line and they always come up short. Defense is mostly just role players with a few exceptions.
Every team has a Chiefs problem. The Eagles are about to experience it on February 9.
Because they are favored. Hard to beat a team that gets the benefits over everyone else.
They have to get the first round bye. They have to
Yup tough to do with the refs helping KC the whole way we were awesome this year 13-3 before the meaningless last game and still we ended up #2.
Didn't we pass up on Dejean and McConkey
Like everyone misses some but they traded tyreek hill and drafted a top 5 defense
kincaid got that first down and then we got it again on that 4th and 1
Refs effectively manufactured a turnover gifted to the Chiefs.

@@rodneyjohnson5457groot just a guy. We need that dude , like Chris jones.
@@rodneyjohnson5457Rousseau isn’t a star pash rusher. There is at least 3 dozen players who are better than him at his position.
We brought him in for “contested catches”and the guy barely did anything for us the whole season and against the chiefs should’ve stayed on the plane
Wow. So we should strategically look bad and lose so we don't give them any insight into our playoff plan. God that sounds moronic.
It’s time for an aggressive offseason. No more signing role players/ transitional pieces, go for the big fish in FA & trade up in the draft
Bean needs to stop wasting first round picks. WTF is he doing? We should have drafted Cooper Dejean last year - he was right there for the taking.
We have to hit on these early picks this year
This year & next year #1 for Max Crosby????
Or Myles Garrett
But they want do it, we will draft a guy that probably want be no help for a year or two.
I would even offer Rousseau and next years pick for Crosby. Keep this years #30 pick and use that along with the 2 2nd round picks on the best defensive players available. Preferably CB,S and DT.
The 3rd down play to Kincaid was a 1st down & y didn’t we challenge? We were too busy racing back up to line of scrimmage to run next play
You summed it up Joe. Make the play!
Your take on Veach and the Chiefs is wild. Veach has hit on so much go take a look.
How is Andy Reid and Spags always one step ahead of our coaches after all these years?
They stayed ahead of the curve and have more talent in key positions.
Loved to see this season, glad if we ever had a year like this, it was this year.
Go Bills a lot to fix still but progress is progress no matter how small
Chief burnout is real, no one I know is watching the super bowl. Especially not the swiftie I know, they don't even know when it is
Superbowl will set an all time viewing record
I'm a Niners fan, but I pull for the Bills as well. What a great, even-handed podcast you do. You're seriously great at this.
That said, the Bills would have won this game if the coach would not run the tush push over and over. How about a little creativity? A swing pass? A dink over the line to a tight end?
There is the difference. When the Chiefs are behind the eight-ball, they dial-up something creative.
If Allen would have slid the protection to the right and threw it to Shakir out of the backfield where he was wide open by 10 yards, might be a different story. Come on JOSH!
Yeah I noticed that too Shakir was wide open but Allen panicked when he saw the corner blitz.
This is where this team comes up short. Everyone knows KC will blitz in the crunch. Gotta be more aware in calling plays in the moment.
I really think people underestimate how difficult that catch was for Kincaid. People keep saying that he should have caught it, but he had to lay out just to get a forearm on it. I keep hearing people saying it hit him in the hands, make the play. I don’t see it being that easy.
Brandon Beane deserves some blame for the roster construction who is always failing the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs SMH
That's exactly my #1 issue is poor roster construction and also wasted early Rd drafting. Tho there are other issues after that.
@@kentcarmack5879 I would categorize them as arm chair coaches. We do not need a new coach or GM, we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work.

It's possible. Boy, do we get screwed in every way possible huh? 😂
I agree. But our Defense needs some help!!

But dude… the Chiefs exist. We have multiple key injuries every time we play them in the playoffs. What do you want to do differently??
@danielfishback6348
Your defense needs to be on the Chiefs' or Eagles level.

Point the finger right at the coaching, these guys shit the bed when the lights come on
Ok so how about if we win a Super Bowl our last season in Highmark Stadium and again our first season in the new one? That would be nice, right?
Brandon Beane has to get more actual talent on both sides of the ball,. clearly " Bills DNA" doesnt work,
We need ACTUAL TALENT
Culture only gets you so far. It failed them on Sunday. They lost their way and didn’t have the talent to overcome.
Clearly, the Bills don't have that big of a problem with the Chiefs.
They beat them during the regular season.
If the Bills had just an ounce more talent on Defense, they would stomp the Chiefs...and everyone else.
Josh broke his hand first half, #1 CB out, #1 safety out it's every years recipe
You had the #1 ranked defense in 2021 and the #2 ranked defense in 2022... both losses to the Chiefs in the playoffs.
Got any more easily shattered narratives you want to spin?
@@brandoncomer6492we never seem to have all phases humming together…or at least not one of them being a train wreck
The difference is the general manager position. The Chiefs draft better. And then, during the middle of the season, the Chiefs lose their running back, but instead they managed to find Kareem Hunt off the couch.
The problem is the bills don’t have any nasty junk yard dogs on defense .to many nice guys .. we have no players on defense that has “that attitude”
Von has been good this year despite only playing 30% of the snaps. I could make the argument that he deserved more snaps. Especially over Epenesa. He was our best edge player this year.
“The Bills have given the Chiefs hell in the last 3 playoff games” if hell is winning football games I wonder what we are dealing with right now….
Good Morning Joe The Bills have a drafting problem and McDermott’s unwillingness to make changes to his schemes. Look at Ponah Ford playing on the Chargers because Ponah played well as the Bills are to small on defense.
Both are average at best if you look at all the picks and whatnot
Poona Ford was trash he had no desire to be in Buffalo.
Thanks, Joe. You're the voice of Bills reason.
Success breeds success; Failure breeds failure. It’s all in the mind , it’s the same in any sport . If only the Bills had won that first Superbowl against the Giants .
Our home schedule is rough next season
Our schedule is brutal next year. To be fair though this year we had a tough schedule and then a couple of those tough teams fell off a cliff
Good thing its home. Away schedule looks favorable
Would much rather have a tough home schedule than road schedule!
Bills had the ball with 3:33 left . with 3 time outs . Allen with the ball for the win or at worse case tie for OT .....
Dalton Kincaid WILL be fine -- fine/highly capable talent, great character, top-notch attitude, and a beloved, respected member of the team.
Buffalo is now officially just the "Buffalo Bill". Bills is a misleading name. "Boy I Love Losing". There, it's accurate now.
Did u really do an add for the Super Bowl Joe ? Wow too soon my guy ! That hurt ! lol 😂
All 22 film wasn't available on time because NFL was busy doctoring it digitally, especially those 3rd and 4th down ball spot calls!
Kinkaid and Knoxx are always injured. They are what they are.
We need home field throughout the playoffs to win that game
Chiefs beat you at home last year Josh is overrated
Or to have a whole stadium full of Bills fans brave that lovely winter weather just to watch the would-be game winning field goal sail wide right...
We need another big playmaker like Saquon Barkley to get us over the hump!
Question:
On the last play it looked like the outside receivers were crossing in front. Why wouldn't the right receiver recognize his defender just blitzed and just turn around (hot rout) and Josh throws it for a first down? The Chiefs knew Josh would roll to his right, the receiver should know as well.
Tons of miscommunication with receivers this year, I think josh broken hand made it hard to get extra work in
Because the safety was lined up over the corner that blitzed, meaning he's dropping down to pick up the blitzers man that he would've covered.
Just catch the ball ….last year it was diggs who dropped bomb …look how worthy’s determination made that catch … bills didn’t want it … that’s a coaching problem, when a team can’t get up enough … chiefs were fired up …
Allen played awful from the jump .. the coaches were brutal i was screaming dont do the tush push again ...
Bummer
Where’s our Chris Jones? Their’s has a ticket straight to Canton when he’s done.
We need home field and #1 spot next year. Go Bills!
Like I know it was their best play but if it isn't working why keep using it that literally insanity. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
Four superbowl losses in a row, 20 years of Tom Brady, and now this!!! What did Bills fans do to deserve this?
Fans continue letting the GM and coach keep settling for 2nd place.
Ha
That's cope you forgot that the only reason the chiefs punted was because they got called for false start when it was the bills who should have gotten an encroaching penalty. Defence clearly went across the line first. That fourth down play was close the only reason you think it was obvious was because of your bias. Did you lose the ravens game because of a really bad pass interference penalty? That penalty gave you a td before half.
I believe we have a Dan Marino situation here. HOF caliber QB and we will never see a Lombardi. NEVER!
As someone who's been following pro football since the mid 1990s, I've been calling Allen "this generation's Dan Marino" for awhile now. An epic and elite QB in a franchise that can't quite make it to the big game...
Marino never had a defense either.
I hate so say it - but the Bills loss was predestined when they didn’t take Xavier Worthy and instead gave it to KC and took Coleman… what a mistake
Nobody here wanted Keon, lets be real. Even Joe Marino. He produced in big games in college but so far it’s been what we expected. Jury still out
Worthy's agent told 31 teams not to draft him cause he only wanted to play in KC. He would have been another locker room cancer, not worthy it
Correct pick there was either Ladd McConkey or Cooper Dejean. My comments here repeated this before that draft
Buffalo should have learned its lesson after Mahomes, but didn't. How does that saying go? "Fool me once: shame on you! Fool me twice..."
You can't beat a team that the NFL favors because of ratings...ratings are undefeated...
On the final drive the Bills needed Cook on the field. Huge mistake not to have him carry the ball.
I actually think the 13 seconds was the worst coaching in history. Also dont think McDermott learned anything from it. Were still playing that off coverage, run away from the Wr defense . I believe it plays into the Chiefs wins against us every year but we still do it
The best you cans say about the Bills coaching staff and front office is that they're slow learners!
Lets face it, without Josh we are a 5 win team. Its not fair to josh that we dont give the weapons. Cook is a nice back, shakir is great, matt is a great team player, but we passed on hopkins for Cooper. Big mistake.
We didn't have cap room for Hop.
Timid ass runs at the end where is the angry guy at?
Still stings! Great season. #3 team in the league! We will be back here next season.
