I hope your next week will be better! I also find difficult to read when I'm having rough times at work. Reading is a nice scape from reality but it still demands lots of brain energy, especially if you're reading in a foreign language. So when I'm trully tired and/or upset from work, I tend to mindlessly scroll on my phone (not even watch a boring TV show, imagine that). I hate that but I try to be gentle with myself and aknowledge the fact that my brain needs to turn off once in a while. Anyways, I wish you a better week!

I hope the week ahead will bring you positive, fun days and that the pleasure of reading will be back. Take care. 🌞

Interesting idea as to whether the RWYO challenge is affecting your desire to read. I haven't tried this challenge, but it seems likely that possible effects (for some people anyway) are feeling generally limited in book choices and missing the fun and excitement of exploring new interests and books. I like freedom of choice and the thrill of discovery. 😎 I also love having a collection of unread books (my own personal bookstore!) that is there for me if I ever *can't* buy more books for any reason. 📚📚📚
I hope you find much more joy and comfort in reading these last 6wks of 2024 and that your work situation improves immensely. 😊 ~ Kim

I hardly ever buy a book, but I still plan to "read what you own" - without a specific numeric goal. I agree with you that I want my library to be books I love or at least reference.

I find all the "read what you own" stuff to be, well, dumb. If I collected coins would anyone say "you can't buy another coin until you spend the ones you own." Of course not so why this logic for books. I've read 80+ books this year and yet I have unread books in my library. Does this make me a bad person? Am I not maintaining proper library hygiene? I don't think so. Book collecting is a great hobby, whether you read one or not. Likewise, reading is a great hobby whether you have a library or not. Good to hear that you saw the light on this cuz I like to read about the new books you bought (grin).

I lost interest in Grey's Anatomy when Sandra Oh left the series. I liked the earlier shows better. Sorry you had a 'sucky' week at work. One of the worst books I have read was connected to the terrorist attack in France (Rafflesia by Alice Hodgson).
