The original artist, Indila, is was born in Paris, but her family is from middle east. Diana Ankudinova's voice, in addition to being a contralto, is (or can be, as she chooses) absolutely full of overtones, giving it a beautifully complex and confusing sound.

It's an over 300 year old folk song about a Cossack warrior who dreams of his death in an imminent battle. On Diana's face you see sadness, anxiety and pain of the soul of the Cossack warrior. One would swear she borrowed that soul to perform the song. I'm not sure how many people appreciate the emotional gasps she produces here that absolutely melt me. You said everything, there is not much to add so i will not ever try, i wll just say that this is the song that put her on the map, even after all those years since she first sang it people still beg from her to sing it and it is also one of those rare instances were the cover has surpassed the original, although in this case Diana did not just surpassed it, she completely obliterated it and the original is already a super top rated song, that is only goes to show just how incredible Diana is. As for her name congratulations, you said it correctly, most people do not even try to search for it and others although they hear it for some reason they do not even register the difference of tonality in their brain. So this already seperates you from the masses good job.
